There was an attendee who literally kept putting himself in front of others and reaching across and bumping others, interrupting the auctioneer. The auctioneer helped quell the actions of this person and everything went back to normal. It was nice to see that the auctioneer was attentive to the situation and stop a possible problem. Goods range from antiques and farm produce to collectives and junk. Prices vary, but generally the best deals can be found early. The dealers are salt of the earth farm boys sprinkled with a few Amish. Everyone is very friendly and willing to dicker. There are 2 buildings with dealers but most set up outside under little pop ups. Today was ok with about 60 dealers. We saw some nice antique farm implements and assorted military and fishing collectibles. We have attended on 5 star days. The offering changes from week to week. A food truck and small cafe provide assorted breakfast and lunch fare. I have not tried the food because it is mostly fried. There is plenty of parking and restroom facilities. The pieces we were interested in were in excellent condition, and were absolutely lovely. We made the drive to Wycliff's showroom and were greeted by a handful of friendly, helpful staff who answered our questions well. We decided to bid online and, after a brief learning curve, got the hang of online bidding. We picked up our items the following Monday and genuinely appreciated the loading help they offered. These are really great, friendly, helpful folks who have had truly impressive estate items for sale. It wasn't just a lot of fun, we can't wait for the next auction.

Auctions are held about once per month with notices coming via mail and email with descriptions of pieces on their website. They offered previews on Friday 2-7:00 and on Saturday 1.5 hours before auction start. This is a family run operation. The gallery is well lit and very clean. The art is nicely displayed and organized. There is plenty of parking but limited seating for patrons. Beverages and lite snacks are available for guests. A security guard is on site keeping an eagle eye on merchandise. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, professional and helpful. This morning the auctioneer proactively spoke with me on the order and timing of items for auction. You need to sign in to get a number paddle to bid. A 15 percent buyer's premium is added to each credit card purchase or 12 percent to cash or check payment. You need to factor the premium into each bid plus sales tax. Today's auction features vintage modern art, jewelry and furniture. I am not a fan of modern but there are some nice antiques and mid century funky pieces that I have in my sights. The gallery fills with about 100 whispering collectors. Online and phone line bidders participate as well, driving up prices. Dang. Online bidders pay a 20 percent buyers premium. There are 931 items listed in the catalogue that is provided to guests. After the catalogued auction there is a second room with more glass and art that will be part of a "market place" uncatalogued auction that starts after the catalogued auction. They offer "reserve" advance bidding prior for the catalogued auction for people that can't be present. It is interesting to see what others are buying but better when I can take something home.

There's a lot of history being told and you get to see some really cool items at Baxter Auction. Bill actually has run the longest auction of all time and there's pretty good stories about it. And you really must go to the kitchen and try the chicken salad and sausage and gravy, but you better get there early cause it goes fast even if she makes tons of it. If you like dolls and tools, they have some of the best well-known auctions in town for that ...and if you like old tools or clocks, same thing. Then when he wrote up the final settlement, he not only charged the a greed amt of 25% which was $235.38 but added in a website fee of $100.00, a clerks fee of $100.00 and a cashier(his wife) a fee of $200.00. In addition to this his wife was very rude to me when I caught them selling an item that was not in the sale and insisted on getting it back. one star was the least I cld give them but they deserve none

As a buyer, I like their normal estate auctions, but BEWARE of their online Amazon return auctions…read more They will advertise the item as something specific from amazon, even include the main amazon link/photo, but when you get the item it is completely different. I have received rugs that were not the advertised size. Lights that were said to be solar but end up being electric. (they cannot claim they did not know, as I was able to type in the number on the box and it brought up exactly what the item was, not what they advertised it as. They had not taken a photo of that part of the box, so I was unable to look it up beforehand). Sometimes you can visually tell from the photos they post of the ACTUAL item, that it is indeed not the item they say it is. Other times they will not post a single picture of the actual item at all, so you have to assume it is what they are advertising it as. They clearly state in the details that it is an open box auction and the absence of defects does not mean they do not have them. THAT IS SHADY! See photos of an example of one of their listings. at least with this one, you could tell it was not even close to the item they said it was. Basically, if it's an estate sale, you are fine to buy, they seem to be honest and upfront about those items. If it is a return amazon sale, be very careful and prepared to lose money.
