A few weeks back I had a little trip with my daughter and we headed to Isle of Wight, we booked this place and the price was reasonable, that's what the star I gave is about.
First when we got to the hotel the woman who checked us in said barely two words and asked if we were someone else who was on the list, first tip is let the customer tell you who they are, don't make an assumption. She didn't tell us where in the hotel we were staying just led us up the stairs to our room and casually pointed at a door telling us that one of the keys we had opened it.
She then showed us our room, at the top of the building and walked away. Zero customer service.
We went out and came back and the key would not work in the patio door nor the door which I assumed it would fit so I had to call the manager, he came out saying "I don't know why it doesn't work, this isn't the front door, that one is" and motioning to another door. I felt quite angry at this point, you run a lodge, custom is your life, don't talk down to the customer because otherwise you may not have any customers!
We went up to the room, the door key didn't work, I tried about 5 times before it actually worked, I was not wanting to call the manager since he seemed to think customers were too much for him to deal with!
Thankful to be in the room I was hopeful to have a good night, that did not happen, firstly the beds were hard, secondly no fan so we had to keep the window open then from 7 to 9 in the church opposite they were doing bell ringing practise, not great when you want to get an early night, all this plus traffic lights and cars constantly made me wish we could leave.
Trying to make the best of a bad thing I decided a hot shower would be good, except the shower would not run warm at all.
In my opinion this place is an avoid especially since it's quite run down and up on a hill! read more
