Got multiple bids from several companies. Really wanted to patronize a local business. Superficially, it looked like other, big box businesses, were less expensive. Upon closer inspection -- not necessarily. For example, some only took down make and model of vehicle, not VIN number. Turns out windshields get upgraded, too, with vehicle upgrades. Roscoe Glass wanted the VIN, right from the start. Roscoe Glass quoted a price, explained process. Gracious. Zero pressure. Big box companies had some deceptive practices going on. Later some hounded me. (Wanna bet they sold my info, too?) After several days of checking out different versions, decided Roscoe Glass was most confidence inspiring. They had next day apptmts. Excellent. They had kept all the info from the first call. Nice. Took vehicle in the next day. Excellent repair. They explained windshield had been replaced before. There were some problems with how that had been done. As such, there was a small difference on the current windshield installation. Ok, thank you. Thorough. But now comes the magic. I go out to my vehicle. Front door will not unlock. Not with fob, not with key. All others open. Oh dear. What happened? Went back into store. A technician came and checked. He thought something had come loose. (Literally completely incidentally. Not their fault. They had done nothing on the driver side window.) They took the vehicle back into shop. They took the door apart, reattached whatever had come loose. Did not charge extra. Who does this any more? I will not go anywhere else for windshields or glass anything. Such a pleasant, high quality experience. Could not have been better. Customer service is alive and well at Roscoe Glass.

My father was 91 years old and had been diagnosed with dementia. Before this roofing project, his physician had determined that he lacked the capacity to make financial decisions, and an activated Power of Attorney was already in place. My sister personally spoke with Mr. Hiester and informed him that our father was not capable of making these types of financial decisions and that the family needed to be involved. Despite being told this, the project proceeded. Our family also informed Mr. Hiester that our father's health was declining and that he likely would not remain in the home for very long. Rather than discussing whether a less expensive repair or patch would meet his needs, he recommended a much more extensive roofing project. The roof that was installed was an overlay over the existing roof rather than a complete tear-off and replacement. Based on the work that was performed, our family believes the amount charged was excessive. Within just a few months, my father was hospitalized multiple times and ultimately moved into assisted living. Looking back, the money spent on this roofing project could have helped pay for the care he now needs. What has been most disappointing is the lack of accountability. Before posting this review, we made numerous phone calls and sent a certified letter asking Hiester Construction to discuss a fair resolution. Despite confirming receipt of our correspondence, no one responded. Because Hiester Construction chose not to communicate with our family, we are now filing complaints with the appropriate Illinois licensing authorities, consumer protection agencies, and elder protection agencies while seeking appropriate compensation. If you are considering hiring this company, especially if you are helping an elderly parent or loved one, I strongly encourage you.

If you want a contractor who will properly install your roof and honors their warranties when there is an issue then look somewhere else. They were fine to work with at first, their salesman was very responsive and helpful with working with insurance. But he left the company shortly after the insurance was approved and the contract was signed, and then it quickly became so hard to get a hold of anyone at the company. We went through 3 different project managers with them, each one worse than the last. It took months to get the roof and siding replaced, then months later I found out they weren't paying their supplier because that supplier threatened to put a lien on my house. We finally got that resolved in November and I thought I was finally done with them. But, now our brand new roof is leaking, I have water coming out of a light fixture, and water spots forming on my ceiling and getting them out here to do anything about it has proved impossible. This is supposed to be covered under their warranty their owner, Jeremiah, told me it would fall under their warranty and he'd be out in a week to take a look. That was well over a month ago at this point. Since then it's been almost impossible to get in contact with him. He doesn't answer his phone, or the company phone, and doesn't really respond to texts. When he does, it's just to say he'll be over in the next couple days, and that inevitably passes without him showing up or communicating to me in anyway. Dealing with First Edge has been nothing short of a nightmare, if you value your property being fixed properly, and a warrantied work actually meaning anything find another contractor. This one is not it.
