I had used Northridge Auto for service on my vehicles, and routine work generally appeared…read moresatisfactory. However, two experiences involving specifically defined work scopes and customer-supplied fluids ultimately caused me to lose confidence in the shop. My 2018 GMC Acadia had developed a torque converter clutch shudder. I was following a specific OEM diagnostic/service approach that included a transmission fluid change. I discussed the scope with the Service Advisor, provided detailed written instructions, supplied the specified Dexron VI fluid, and left another copy of the instructions on the driver's seat for the technician. Despite this, Northridge used its own multi-vehicle ATF instead of the fluid I supplied. This wasn't simply a brand preference; it changed a controlled variable in an ongoing diagnostic process and set back my troubleshooting. The same work scope requested inspections of the engine/transmission mounts and CV joints as possible shudder sources, but the documentation I received did not record the performance or findings of those inspections. When I questioned the ATF issue, the Service Advisor became animated and raised his voice. I subsequently documented the issue in writing to the Service Manager/Owner and requested reimbursement. Northridge refunded the cost of that service, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, a similar issue occurred afterward. During a rear differential service, I supplied OEM lubricant because I specifically wanted the proper friction characteristics for that application. Despite the earlier ATF issue, Northridge again used its own fluids. I was charged for those fluids, and the lubricant I supplied was not returned. When I questioned the second fluid substitution, I again experienced an animated, raised-voice response from the Service Advisor. The recurrence after the first issue had already been formally addressed is what ultimately caused me to lose confidence in the shop. I am not suggesting Northridge is incapable of satisfactory routine automotive service. However, if you specify particular fluids, parts, inspections, procedures, or a defined scope of work, my experience suggests verifying what was actually used and ensuring requested work and findings are documented. For me, following the agreed scope and responding professionally when legitimate questions are raised are fundamental to trusting a repair shop. After these experiences, I chose to take this work elsewhere or perform it myself.

Initially I…read morethought it was going to hit my windshield- it landed in the road in front of my poor little car. Because of oncoming traffic, I could not swerve, or because of the car behind me- stop safely. I hit it and heard the crunching tearing sound. Mercifully, the car behind me stopped. I had to back out to get this giant chunk out of the bottom of my car. In the moment I should've pulled over, but I asked Siri for the closest repair shop. This was Steve and Jerry's. At this point I prayed for help. I was petrified. I spoke to a sweet woman who said she was going to go chat with her son in law. My car died a minute from their shop. He chatted with me briefly and said he would be right over. He walked over in the rain. As he looked- his expression was grim. It seems this chunk tore the radiator and compressor, and he wasn't sure about the engine. The cars check engine light was on. My tow driver towed it over. He had a longer look and came in to chat with me. This was pretty massive. He felt it needed to go to the dealer, and told me to file an insurance claim. I started the process in the waiting area and soon I had a plan in place. Not only did the technician offer to drive me back to my home (I had a friend coming), but his mom in law kept the store open until my friend arrived, keeping me warm instead of standing out in the cold. I did request to pay for the detailed assessment, and I did so. Can you say over and above? I don't know many places that would do this. Even though the damage was beyond their means (because it was pretty catastrophic needing a dealer's help), they still made sure I wasn't left literally out in the cold. I can just imagine how their regular customers are treated, I was new to them! The office Goddess informed me they'd been around for 54 years. I can certainly see why. Her husband took great pride in his service (he's been departed a decade or so) and the business remains in their family. What great, kind people I ran into today. I would recommend this business wholeheartedly. On a cold, rainy, horribly gone wrong and not so funny April Fool's Day- I met a couple angels that gave me hope. Thank you both of you for your help, and especially your kindness. I am deeply grateful.

The shop has flatly refused to diagnose the engine light in my VW Beetle. Their sales pitch about using "the best oil" is no more than a full synthetic compatible with your car. Any shop will do this. What's more, Foreign Auto Solutions doesn't care about their customers other than getting paid. They don't clean up their parking lot nor do they salt it. Right smack in the middle of the winter, I slipped and fell on the black ice in the parking lot, and a kind bystander helped me back to my feet. Bystander, and not one of the shop workers. I walked inside and grabbed a piece of a paper towel to stop bleeding in my hands. I was actually lucky to even find a piece of paper towel; it was almost used up and not refilled. This was the last time that I visited this shop. Never again, and don't recommend it to anyone. Enough said.
