My wife and I had an excellent experience leasing our new Tahoe LTZ from Abernethy Chevy in Lincolnton! We did our homework and got pricing from several dealers in the area before making a decision. Abernethy's admin fee is a few hundred dollars less than dealers in the Lake Norman/Charlotte area, and they don't charge for extra paint protection or other add-ons that we didn't need (other dealers we visited tried to charge $1,000 for this on top of the selling price but didn't tell us about this charge when we called ahead of time!). We dealt directly with the sales manager Josh and he had most of our paperwork ready when we arrived. We were in and out in less than an hour and the entire team at Abernethy made our buying experience a seamless process which we greatly appreciated. read more

I am extremely disappointed with how Abernethy Chevrolet has handled an ongoing water leak in my 2020 GMC Terrain. I originally brought the vehicle to Abernethy to have the sunroof replaced. After the replacement, I began finding significant amounts of water in the rear passenger floorboard after it rained. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and was told a leak specialist determined the water was coming from the roof antenna rather than the sunroof. I was told that issue had been repaired. The vehicle continued to leak. After another rain, I found approximately 1/2 inch of standing water in the rear passenger floorboard. After numerous calls and multiple emails to management without a resolution, I was eventually able to reach a general manager who agreed to have the vehicle looked at again. Abernethy kept the vehicle for 8 days. When I picked it up, I was told they found one sunroof drain clogged and another completely disconnected, and that both issues had been corrected. Unfortunately, what I found when I picked up the vehicle was extremely concerning. The windows were fogged from heavy moisture inside the vehicle. There was STILL standing water in the rear floorboards, and there were now large, visible patches of mold throughout the carpet. After having the vehicle for 8 days, it appears there was little to no effort made to properly dry the interior, remove the standing water, remediate the mold, or prevent further moisture damage. My concern is no longer just the original leak. This vehicle has now had substantial water intrusion for an extended period of time. I am concerned about mold and mildew, saturated carpet and padding, electrical components, wiring, corrosion, and other long-term damage caused by the water. What makes this especially frustrating is that this entire situation began after I brought the vehicle to Abernethy for a sunroof replacement. I have repeatedly given the dealership opportunities to diagnose the problem and make it right. Instead, after multiple repair attempts and 8 additional days at the dealership, I received my vehicle back with standing water still inside and visible mold throughout the carpet. I understand that water leaks can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. What I do not understand is returning a customer's vehicle in this condition after having it for more than a week. I am documenting this experience so other customers can make an informed decision. If Abernethy Chevrolet ultimately takes responsibility, properly repairs the source of the leak, professionally addresses the water and mold damage, and ensures the vehicle has not suffered additional damage from the prolonged water intrusion, I will gladly update my reviews to reflect the final outcome. read more

Horrible customer service in their service department. I've always had my Yukon Denali serviced and repaired at GMC dealerships. This was hands down the worst service and attitude I've ever experienced. I wish I could give them a negative - read more

Recently had a great experience with their service department. We had a vehicle that was leaking oil and I needed it repaired quickly. We called and they were able to get us a diagnosis appointment the next day. They have always been very good about fitting you in their schedule for most things. We dropped the vehicle off and got a text message that let us know updates would be provided. The text message system was so convenient they do still call you if you prefer that but with the text I had all the details available and didn't have to write anything down. The same day it arrived we got information about the repairs and were given a few other options for add on this is common with all dealerships so no big deal. The price seemed reasonable. The vehicle was ready when they said it would be and there was no delays. The service was fast and easy making my life so much easier. read more

customer service is disappointing The supposed mechanics are sad, they do their job more than poorly! read more

Jessica in the service department is horrible. Had recall repair work completed. I also requested service on an interior repair. Picked it up after hours and saw the repair was not complete. Turned the keys is again asked for repair. Got a text the next day that was extremely rude, passive aggressive and unprofessional, stating I should have asked about it. A professional dealership should call to inform of services performed or inability to perform others. Dont say your car is ready leading them on with expectations of completed service, only to find they have not made the repair. Jessica should be fired for inability to maintain professionalism and customer care. read more

I have had several good experiences dealing with the owner and staff of Abernethy. They have a straightforward and upfront approach to selling cars. I've shopped several dealers in the greater Charlotte area and they are the only one that I found that DID NOT have some additional charge for a Dealer Add-on package. Friendly and Fair. read more

This place should be a zero star for customer service. I've never purchased a vehicle from this location but I did attempt to get service done on my vehicle. The lady that didn't want to help me was rude and did not care about issues I was having with my vehicle. No one seemed to care, including the manager. If they don't care to help you due to lack of knowledge on the repair side, I'd say what type of individuals do they hire as salesmen/saleswomen? I'd never suggest this place even to someone desperate. Save your money and save yourself from this location. Turn your head and drive north to Hickory or even south to Gastonia as far away from this dealership as possible! Please don't ask me to contact your dealership over these issues because you obviously didn't care when I was there! read more

This dealership is not concerned about taking care of its customers. I've purchased several cars over the course of my life, and this dealership leads the award for the worst customer service possible. The ladies in service are EXTREMELY rude and hateful. They just want you off the phone; they do not care about you or customer loyalty. My car has been in their service department more than it has been on the road (I've only had the car for about 6 months). A manager will not show their face to talk to you, which as a manager myself, I can not wrap my head around. I'm done with this dealership. Head down the road to Hickory or Gastonia, they have MUCH better customer service and more competent service departments. read more

I purchased a new grille from Abernathy via Ebay for my wife's birthday. I live in another state. This is what I experienced: 1. They sent the wrong grille for a different type of vehicle. 2. They wouldn't process the return until I sent them the serial number on the box even though I sent them a picture of the grille in the box (I was out of town for a week following the delivery of the incorrect grille and had no access to the box or the serial number). 3. They sent me the wrong return label. It was suitable for a 13 oz object whereas the grill is at least 30 lbs (the post office sent me away after I lugged the box up there and waited in line for 20 minutes). 4. They wont send me a corrected label to process the return. 5. My wife's birthday has passed and I'm stuck with an incorrect grille that I cannot return unless I pay the shipping. Competence, attention to detail, and customer responsiveness. These are things you should NOT expect when dealing with Abernathy Chevrolet. read more

Absolutely the worst consumer service I have ever dealt with. They tell you one thing and they give the run around. Take my advice and go somewhere else. read more

If I could give a negative star rating, I would. We helped our daughter purchase a truck from Abernethy Chevrolet on Monday, August 8th - a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with 30,000 miles, certified pre-owned. Certified pre-owned meaning Abernethy gave it a 172 point inspection prior to listing it for sale on their lot. Our college aged daughter saved and saved to put money down on the truck of her dreams..... On Tuesday, August 9th she drove back to college in her new truck. Tuesday night the truck started shaking and making strange noises. Warning lights were flashing and it was obvious something was terribly wrong. She called home in tears but thankfully was able to nurse the truck back to her house. I of course called Abernethy the next morning... you would have thought that I was calling to say thanks. There was zero concern or remorse for what had happened literally less than 48 hours after leaving their lot. Furthermore; the salesman had the audacity to say "its 3 days OR 150 miles" knowing full well that my daughter had to drive over 150 miles to get back to school. Pretty much saying, too bad sorry about your luck. My husband and I both called REPEATEDLY to the sale manager with no return call, we even had him paged, nothing. We called again no answer even after the receptionist told us she could see him sitting at his desk! We took the truck to a local dealer - it needed a WHOLE NEW ENGINE!! How does 172 point inspection miss that? It doesn't. The local dealer that helped to replace the engine was way more responsive and apologetic then Abernethy was. 172 point inspection would have caught the issue, they frankly just didn't care. I have never experienced such horrible business processes, total disregard for the customer. I told them about the engine needing to be entirely replaced... "well, you know... you can never tell with a used vehicle" is what I was told. WHAT!! less than 48 hours later... not great customer service. Not even okay customer service. From the salesman to the sales manager, service manager, and owners themselves, by far the worse experience we have ever had. Never a call from a manager or owner even stating they were sorry for the experience and can we help! Nothing, radio silence. If you are looking for a used vehicle GO ANYWHERE BUT ABERNETHY. If you want communication, honesty, and integrity Abernethy is not the place for you. Buys beware. read more

So happy with everyone here! We needed a new, safe car for our son with an affordable payment, and we got that and a ton of features. We went with the Encore, a perfect car for a college student. Thanks! read more

Great customer service! Very friendly and knowledgeable in both service and sales! Great prices in service especially for oil changes in comparison to other local places such as Meineke or Mr. Tire type places. I typically do not go to the dealership for service and have not for 15 years. But my experience today has caused me to once again believe in the dealeorship service experience. Mitch and his staff are great to work with. The benefits of a locally owned dealership is that you are treated as an individual rather than a transatlantic. This dealership is awful. The owner lies and everyone else swears to it. Stay away from them at all cost. They screwed up my payoff on traded vehicle. Owed me money, never gave it to me. Suppose to register vehicle and pay sales tax. Never did it. Had to get an attorney to deal with them. Could not take any more of there empty promises. read more

Bought a 2016 Chevy Silverado here it was supposed to get free oil changes. But every time I go I get denied so I just change the all myself but the other big issue when I bought the truck it was daylight the cargo lighting on the interior is LEDs so I did not notice that the rear cargo lights did not work until that night after purchasing this truck I have been there five times to try to get this fixed. Every time I've been there my truck has not even made it to the shop where I get turned around and said they can't get to it today now as a business owner I don't have a whole lot of time to continue to come up here. So you call and set up an appointment when you get there they say oh we're sorry we can't get to your appointment today so you call to set up another appointment and they say oh you don't need an appointment just come on in and will get it right on out but yet my truck still broke what a joke read more

I wouldn't buy air from this dealership, nor would I allow them to service my toy Hot Wheels car! They tell you whatever you want to hear to make a sell and then deny ever saying what they've said when it comes time to back it up. Their used cars are nothing but JUNK and they will NOT stand behind them once you sign the contract. They only sell the used junk to make money in their service department which find something wrong! Every time you're having one thing fixed the "mechanics" find two or three other things that need fixing before your inspection can be passed. Are you thinking maybe I just happened to get one bad car from them? NOT!! I recommended a friend to them before my car started falling apart (two weeks after signing my contract) and her car started falling apart with-in the month, just like mine. Both of our cars have left us stranded, lights shining on the dash, headlights turning off and on while driving at night, car going completely dead in the middle of traffic, etc.. Never think you can go to anyone to complain because it's always passed to someone else you never hear from again. Even requested a "meeting" with Abernathy himself and was told he would contact me when we could meet about my and my friends complaints...still waiting on that call and it will be a year this coming October. Even he doesn't stand behind autos with his name on them, that should tell you all you need to know. Never again. read more
