The 5 star reviews on Google Maps are solicited after a purchase is settled. I'm trying to get through to someone at the dealership to figure out what went wrong, but they're largely hands-off so far. I'll adjust this review if necessary. I found out about this after putting around 400 miles on the vehicle and wondering why the engine temperature sat above normal throughout all of those miles. None of this was apparent during the short test drive and whenever I asked for some clarity on the vehicle's history, no one had information. Turns out, I was sold a car that had coolant and engine oil mixed in the coolant reservoir and the radiator was on its way out. The glaring issue was that the radiator fan was loose and was scraping the radiator fins, but none of this was disclosed before or during purchase. I only found out about it after I took it to a Mopar technician post-purchase. There's a reason there's a peak with 1-star reviews - there's a pattern with how they receive and service vehicles if they missed that the radiator fins were broken, which is similar to some others who have found post-purchase damages. read more

Recently found a Jeep on their website that I was interested in purchasing. Website showed it was available to purchase. I went to the dealership - met with Steve ( nice guy & helpful ) who showed me the vehicle and allowed us to test drive and gave us the run down & info on the Jeep. Once we were sold on the Jeep & decided to start talking about buying it - he was told that another salesman had someone driving to Mooresville to come look at the Jeep and they couldn't sell it to us. In my experience - if you have a car on your lot or your website AVAILABLE to purchase and it's actually not been purchased then you should be able to buy it no matter who is "coming to look at it". Basically they were deferring to a potential buyer - when they had a cash buyer in front of them. Not good marketing or customer service. So give them a heads up that your coming to look & they'll hold it for you - but don't plan on driving there and wasting your time test driving, etc. because there's a chance they're holding it for someone else. Nice business model if you're the one who calls and say's your coming to look at it - they'll reserve it for you - no matter if they have a buyer or not. read more

I found the car I was looking for on a website and sent them an email asking for more information. Within a short time I received a reply from Jeff King who provided me with all of the information I had asked for. To make a long story short within five days he had helped me arrange to get the car inspected and we negotiated a price. I flew into town to close the deal and the car was waiting for me at the front of the store ready to go. I looked it over and took it for a test drive and everything was exactly as Jeff had said so we closed the deal, a process that took less than 20 minutes since they had prepared all of the paperwork beforehand and had everything waiting for me. I can't say enough about Jeff's courtesy and professionalism. Actually, that applies to everyone at the dealership. They have all been great to deal with. We found the car we were interested in on Cargurus.com, and drove out to Mooresville to see it this past Saturday (1/13/18). Unfortunately, the car was not at that location and we had to drive to their Lincolnton lot. They have one account on the car searching websites (Mooresville location), so don't go by the dealer information - read the description to find out which lot actually has the car you're interested in. If it wasn't for this little hiccup I'd give them 5 stars. My wife and I arrived at the correct lot close to closing time, and they didn't mind staying late to accommodate us. I had a great experience purchasing my vehicle from Carolina auto direct. From the first call to delivery, my sales consultant Jeff was fantastic! I could tell he was a true car guy by the way he handled the call and orchestrated the deal. I was thoroughly impressed. Buying a vehicle site unseen for over $100,000 is not the most comfortable thing to do. Jeff made it easy and put my mind at ease. The sale was closed the same day within hours. By the way I tried to purchase the same car from a Maserati dealership. It took three days for a return call or text. Ironically 10 minutes after closing the deal with Jeff I received a Text from the dealership. So I immediately responded thank you, but 10 minutes too late as I just purchased one. The finance department was a breeze with the online application. They had all necessary documents prepared in advance and they made my experience seamless. Furthermore, Jeff made it so convenient for me he had a car waiting for me at the airport to take me directly to the dealership. One thing I can truly say about Carolina Auto Direct, is that it was like boutique shopping. A small but quaint establishment, so sophisticated, with knowledgeable sales staff. They had a Clean environment with specialty hand-picked vehicles by the owner. Great job! read more

I am disappointed with my purchase. I bought a 2004 Cadillac XLR site unseen as that car wasn't available within 200 miles of where I live. James the sales rep there assured me the paint job was in great condition and everything mechanical worked fine. I even asked him to personally go over the car, make sure all the components were working and send me additional photographs of any imperfections so I wouldn't be surprised when I received the vehicle. He sent me some photos of a small scratch on the wheel and a tiny scratch on the paint job below the front bumper and said that was the only imperfections otherwise the car was great. The car has a huge list of features which he stated all worked. When I received the car there were many broken parts such as: the navigation system did not work, the CD player was broken, the emergency flashers did not work, the heads up display was broken, one of the tire pressure monitoring transmitters was out as well. I asked James what happened " I thought you checked it all out for me and said everything was working". He replied "those guys were supposed to make sure all of that stuff was working before we checked the vehicle out". I was going to give this dealership one star but I will bring it up to two stars since they were nice enough to find me another navigation system and mail it to me. The paint job was so horrendous I had to get the car repainted and I'm posting some pictures of what the paint job looked like when I received the car. read more

I would not recommend to purchase or do any business with this dealership. I purchased the car on 05/20/22 and on 06/4/22 the car shut off with my family out of town. I called and spoke with Paul who stated he would speak with Ryan and contact me by end of business day. After waiting 2 days with no response and no car I had to call again this time I spoke with Ryan who was/ has a very nasty and rude attitude. I explained to him calmly and nicely that I already purchased a new battery (because I was stuck out of town) and wanted to see what he could do abt the alternator. He tried to talk over me and say autozone doesn't have quality parts and and I should buy a battery for $250. Again After waiting 2 days with no response and no car He said he could only give me $125 after I had already spend over $600 and only had the car for 16 days. He proceeded to say that I would have to sign a goodwill form/clause because he doesn't have to help me even though this shows how he treats his customers. The previous reviews from FB, and online only confirms this mans character when there is a issue with his cars. After I explained to him I would accept the $125 only if he signed paper confirming the original value of the alternator, if it's new/used, and any warranty for within 30 days of getting the alternator and he again got very upset and nasty. This is not how you treat your customers. I declined the $125 because of his character and behavior. Also because he knows there are issues with the cars he has you sign a form to cover his self. If you want to save the headache from spending more money and being disrespected I would take your business elsewhere. Seriously. read more

They even filled the tank for me. The car was very clean. I knocked off one star because they advertised 2 items for the vehicle that it did not have. Traction control and remote start. I drove 6 hours to Lincolton, NC to purchase a truck from Carolina Auto Direct. We agreed to a deal and I drove off in the truck. As I was driving home from the dealer, the bed cover on the truck flew off and hit the car following behind me. I called Carolina Auto Direct hoping to get some sort of reimbursement for the cost of the damage or at least the cost of the bed cover. The salesman Chris who helped me out spoke to his general manager and mentioned he could try to reimburse the cost of my bed cover but that we would have to go through insurance to fix the repairs to the other vehicle. I agreed to this proposal. Chris then contacted me and stated that Carolina Auto Direct was only willing to cover half the cost of the bed cover. I told the salesman that i was not happy with this proposal and would like to make things right and avoid taking legal action. I am extremely dissatisfied as a customer. I came into the dealership and paid for the truck in cash. I would expect a dealership to thoroughly inspect a vehicle is safe to drive before letting the truck leave the lot. Two of the clamps of the bed cover remained in the bed of the truck which leads me to realize that the bed cover was not securely fastened. I tried several times to contact the dealer and the person who answered the phone kept stating that the general manager was in meetings. I reached out to the general manager via email to hopefully come up with a resolution to this incident. The General Manager stated that I called the dealership and threatened the sales guy with an attorney and that we have nothing to talk about. A threat was never made. One of the papers the dealership makes you sign is an agreement to attempt to settle any issues with the dealership before seeking legal action. This is exactly what i attempted to do but the General Manager refuses to contact me back. read more

Bought a vehicle there and had it for 3 months. They sold me an extended warranty which was suppose to cover everything, so I was told, but they failed to tell me that it didn't cover head gaskets etc. Motor practically blew up, needed head gaskets and other parts but the warranty would not cover them. $5300 worth of repairs. They were not helpful to me at all. I tried for 2 weeks to see a car they posted and never got to see it. It was first in detail where it stayed for over a week (so they said) and then in service. I called again and it was out of being serviced and they said it was being detailed. This went on for 2 weeks. I would never buy a car from this place. Awful service!! read more

Buyer-beware with these guys, plenty of other places to buy a car. Read on and learn from me. It turned out to be a very expensive lesson. Purchased a 2001 BMW from these guys, within a month I was bringing it back to them with burning oil issues and cooling issues. Most of the time they said they fixed it, and even did it for free 3 times (probable to make sure there was no record of the issue), charged me 3 other times. I also purchase a full Silver warranty. Sales guy told me "oh it covers almost everything it's a great warranty". During my 8th. month of ownership the engine blew, this just a week after they worked on it for low coolant. The guy filled it back with coolant nothing else. The BMW expert guys told me it's a closed system, and if it was leaking coolant ,then you had a major problem. My daughter was driving it, got about 3 miles from my house, and the heat indicator started moving towards red, she pulled it over, shut it down. Had it towed to Carolina auto direct ,and they told me they were going to send it over to a BMW expert. Come to find out the engine blew, I had to spend 4K for another engine. The warranty didn't cover it because they used and "overheating clause" in the warranty to get out of it. It was actually a bad thermostat that caused the engine to heat up, which caused it to blow. The BMW expert said that the engine had blown before, and the sellacoil bolts had been re-drilled into the engine block, so it was just a matter of time before it would blow. It an aluminum block engine, once it blows 1 time, it should be replaced not reset the engine bolts. So at the end of the day they sold me a car that had a major engine problem, an engine that would not even qualify for a warranty because it wasn't original. The warranty program is a real issue, the front of the contract tells you all the stuff it's going to cover and the back end of the contract tells you all the exceptions that lead to them not covering very much. At the end of the day this guy buys cars that look great, does a great job of detailing them, he fixes and obvious issues and then put them on the market. I am not the only one who has had a problem with this guy. read more

I would not recommend this car dealership to my worst enemy. Very unprofessional and do not do what they say. Took a check in the amount of $22,773.55 to them from my bank, to buy a Terrain that they had provided a bill of sale, so that my bank could write out the correct amount and to whom so we could purchase. When we got to Mooresville (45 min drive for me) the guy James was very rude even though he was expecting us. We sat there for over an hr, and then was told they could not sale us the Terrain. I talked to Steve the day before and everything was a go, or so I thought. They wasted my time, gas and was extremely rude. If this is successful business, then I want no part of it. read more

I had an excellent experience at Carolina auto direct, I seen the car i had been looking for when I drove past the dealership so I called and spoke with James. He said they were closing in 30 minutes but would love to show me the car that next day, so he got my name and number. My husdamd and I couldn't make it down there the following day but were planning on going to see it the next day. James gave me a call first thing that next morning asking if i was still interested in seeing the challenger? I said yes we would be down there about 5:30 p.m. James said great, I'll have the car pulled out and ready to go for you to see. We arrived around 5:40 p.m. that day and sure enough James had the car pulled out clean and ready for us to look at. Jeff greeted us as we arrived at the dealership and he was the one that took us for a test drive. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the car. We decided to purchase the vehicle Jeff and James had us in and out very quickly it was one of the best car buying experience I've ever had. They even took my amplifier out of my old vehicle for me and gave me a full tank of gas in my new vehicle. I would highly recommend Carolina Auto Direct. read more

Purchased a Chevrolet in December 2013 from Carolina Auto Direct via the internet based on the information and photos provided in their ad. All went smooth including the wire transfer but customer service took an abrupt turn after they received the funds. Vehicle was delivered on time but without the proper documents to establish ownership. Has been two weeks since delivery and still have not received the proper documents all the while the vehicle sits in the garage. Also requested the second remote/key as was indicated in the ad only to be told there is only one. No assistance offered to obtain second remote/key despite numerous requests. In my opinion, the sales person shows no interest in customer service after receipt of the funds and even less to details of the sale regarding the customers expectations. Apparently their only interest is in number of sales completed which they are quick to equate to you when challenged about their practices. Based on their responses so far we are keeping our fingers crossed that nothing is found to be wrong with the vehicle when we finally are able to use it.
