I tell everyone I know to NOT go here. Since then I've heard other horror stories from women so I…read moredecided to speak out about it. This business is near my work so it is super convenient. I decided to take my car here. I went to pick it up and had to drive to gastonia for my son's allergy shots. They did NOT plug my battery back up to my alternator and I got stranded with my son on back roads trying to come home from the doctor in the rain. How is something like that over looked. I don't understand. It was an absolute nightmare but at this point I hadn't heard other bad things yet. A couple months later I needed to take my car to get looked at again. I decided to give them another try. I took it the fixed it. I thought they were rude but most men are to women in car places so I didn't complain. Just decided to not go back. I paid 368 for 1 ignition coil and 1 spark plug. This was February 27th. On October 27 my car started acting up again and I knew from previous experience it was the spark plugs again. I took it to the Toyota clinic and I was correct. But apparently you're supposed to change all at the same time. Not just one. And I paid 377 for all 4 of mine and ignition coil. So not only did they not fix it properly but I paid 9 more for all of it to get fixed. Country town will screw you over if you're a woman. I have spoken to 4 other females who have had horrible experiences here. I know a couple of guys who won't go back and a couple who have never had an issue. But I have not heard any women with a positive experience. I will never go back. And I will never recommend.

So they pulled up the alignment sheet and they said they purposely left all of it in the red on the sheet because they know better than Chevrolet multimillion dollar company on specs. Do NOT GO HERE. They Will not fix what they left loose.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend anyone go to this Lincolnton shop for repairs. I appreciated a…read morequick oil change and politeness from staff, which made me feel comfortable with the recommended repairs they suggested: a new valve cover and spark plugs, because oil was coming from my engine. The manager assured me I needed new spark plugs because they had been covered in oil. Unfortunately, though, this wasn't the whole truth. The manager told me I needed new spark plugs because they had oil on them and were damaged -- note, I had purchased new spark plugs three weeks prior. Though I trusted his statement and came in the next day for the repairs. As I was there, a woman entered complaining of the service that had been done on her car and how it had led to a rattling of her car. Additionally her wheel was now turning 360 just to get a turn. Additionally, the bolts in the car -- as she had taken her car to another shop to be looked-- had been allegedly hand-screwed by this Meineke and diagnosed at another shop after the work had been done. What was most alarming, though, was how the manager handled this customer. He assuaged her with claims of misdiagnosis, her own error in not following the shops suggestions (though she had and recieved repairs elsewhere as well) as well as claiming she had been scammed at another shop, though the work that had been done at this shop was the faulty work. This was being claimed on all sides. Her husband arrived, and he talked to him, and after they exited I was most alarmed by the fact the manager got on the phone with another individual and claimed the woman had been unreasonable and how the husband had been more reasonable. This was an erroneous claim, as he told a different story to the husband than he did to the wife. All this ensued right in front of me, including the calls to someone above him (I can only assume), as he gave them a tailored tale of the events and a tailored statement about his own words. This made me extremely nervous. At this point, I am still waiting for my car, and he brings me the "damaged spark plugs," saying, "See how they were burnt..." Unfortunately, what I was looking at were brand new spark plugs that I had purchased three weeks ago, without oil and no obvious damage. This was the day before -- the same manager who was now showing me my spark plugs, claiming they were damaged, had said they had oil on them and needed to be replaced. I appreciated his work ethic, even his sales expertise -- I admired his strategies, even getting familiar with customers by calling them "boss man," making them comfortable. But at this point I felt swindled. I asked to see the mechanic; he obliged, and I met the mechanic 1, who was working on my car. I introduced myself and asked him about my spark plugs. He said, "Oh, they are fine." I asked him about the oil getting on them, and he said, "Oh no, no oil." So I said, "Why do they need to be replaced?" He said, "Oh no, they don't." I asked him why they were he stated "we just do what we are told" Thankfully, he was able to return them to my car. I got to see the valve -- it definitely needed to be replaced, thank you so much for that, after my request. And I was able to talk to the tech (tech 2) who diagnosed my car, and I asked him why I needed spark plugs. He said he never recommended that. Thankfully, I caught this, and they returned my three-week-old spark plugs to the car. I was upset because I had been told a tale by the manager, who told me I needed new spark plugs -- a $120 up-charge -- because they had been covered in oil, and then portrayed these brand new spark plugs as damaged, assuming, perhaps, I had an untrained eye. Thankfully, my bill was revised, and I was able to speak to the manager, telling him I didn't believe that what he did was right and that I was misled. I will be contacting the district manager and will not be returning, on account of a lack of integrity, and would warn anyone who would consider this shop as well to frequent somewhere else.

Abernethy Chevrolet - Mold growth on carpet

Abernethy Chevrolet

We did our homework and got pricing from several dealers in the area before making a decision. Abernethy's admin fee is a few hundred dollars less than dealers in the Lake Norman/Charlotte area, and they don't charge for extra paint protection or other add-ons that we didn't need (other dealers we visited tried to charge $1,000 for this on top of the selling price but didn't tell us about this charge when we called ahead of time!). We dealt directly with the sales manager Josh and he had most of our paperwork ready when we arrived. We were in and out in less than an hour and the entire team at Abernethy made our buying experience a seamless process which we greatly appreciated.

After the replacement, I began finding significant amounts of water in the rear passenger floorboard after it rained. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and was told a leak specialist determined the water was coming from the roof antenna rather than the sunroof. I was told that issue had been repaired. The vehicle continued to leak. After another rain, I found approximately 1/2 inch of standing water in the rear passenger floorboard. After numerous calls and multiple emails to management without a resolution, I was eventually able to reach a general manager who agreed to have the vehicle looked at again. Abernethy kept the vehicle for 8 days. When I picked it up, I was told they found one sunroof drain clogged and another completely disconnected, and that both issues had been corrected. Unfortunately, what I found when I picked up the vehicle was extremely concerning. The windows were fogged from heavy moisture inside the vehicle. There was STILL standing water in the rear floorboards, and there were now large, visible patches of mold throughout the carpet. After having the vehicle for 8 days, it appears there was little to no effort made to properly dry the interior, remove the standing water, remediate the mold, or prevent further moisture damage. My concern is no longer just the original leak. This vehicle has now had substantial water intrusion for an extended period of time. I am concerned about mold and mildew, saturated carpet and padding, electrical components, wiring, corrosion, and other long-term damage caused by the water. What makes this especially frustrating is that this entire situation began after I brought the vehicle to Abernethy for a sunroof replacement. I have repeatedly given the dealership opportunities to diagnose the problem and make it right. Instead, after multiple repair attempts and 8 additional days at the dealership, I received my vehicle back with standing water still inside and visible mold throughout the carpet. I understand that water leaks can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. What I do not understand is returning a customer's vehicle in this condition after having it for more than a week. I am documenting this experience so other customers can make an informed decision. If Abernethy Chevrolet ultimately takes responsibility, properly repairs the source of the leak, professionally addresses the water and mold damage, and ensures the vehicle has not suffered additional damage from the prolonged water intrusion, I will gladly update my reviews to reflect the final outcome.
