If you are a female I would not take your car here. They tried to rip me off and tell me I needed a new alternator. Turns out it was just the battery. Hands down the best car shop I've ever been to!! I bought my own brakes and rotors from Advanced Auto and Auto Zone for Mr. Nobody's to change out for me. Both times Advanced AND Auto Zone sold me the wrong size rotors for my car. I felt SO bad! Adrienne knew I was an hour away teaching and couldn't leave. She quickly thought to get my receipt from my glovebox and exchange it for me. Throughout the craziness, they were calm, professional and never complained about the inconvenience. I was on vacation with my wife, when my 2017 Ford Fusion broke down about 3 miles from this Mr. Nobody repair shop. I know this because my AAA tow told me so. Earl, the tow truck driver, was great, by the way. Hat's off to Earl!! And his 4 kids! My Fusion would not move due to a "brake system failure". So, a pretty serious alert, in my book. Earl took us to the Mr. Nobody(which I had never heard of) and dropped us off. The wife and I were supposed to head 300 miles back home the next day, so pretty nervous about how this was going to go. We stepped inside, began to describe the situation and Jason, came out of the garage and into the front area. We repeated the alert description and he immediately went outside stating that "he had an idea what was wrong". He looked under the hood for 5 seconds and said "yep", there's your problem, pointing to a part of the engine. He was very familiar with this transmission cable breaking and causing the car to stop functioning. They ordered the part and we walked down the road to grab a bite to eat. By the time we finished and started walking back down to the shop, the call came in that the car was fixed and ready to go!! What a relief that we were dropped into their lap! Jason was awesome, Josh at the front counter was great(parked our car in the shade away from the North Carolina summer sun). Went to have our car inspected and was told the windshield wipers needed to be replaced before it could pass. I thought it odd since we had replaced them only last year and they still worked well but if I wanted the car to pass inspection we had to get them. They put new ones on that don't actually fit the car and are horrible. I cannot see out of the windshield at all when it is raining slightly. We had to replace them again. We will not be returning. It is unfortunate we have been customers for a few years. Three of our vehicles have been serviced there including purchasing tires. Took our truck for an oil change and they suggested changing the wipers on it as well, so maybe they are just trying to push add on charges. Either way we will not be going back, this was clearly just an up-charge we couldn't get out of due to the inspection. BE CAREFUL!!!!!! They tried to rip me off and over charge me because I am a woman. I walked in with my 2015 Honda Accord and he told me it would be $59.99 for an oil change. I told him I've never paid that before and have always paid around $30. He said whoever has done my oil changes obviously doesn't know cars well; I've gone to a very reputable mechanic for 10 years but was trying Mr Nobody for convenience. He told me it HAD to be a synthetic oil and I didn't have any choice otherwise it would make him liable if something damaged my car. I took my car and didn't get the oil changed. My husband called later in the day asking for a quote on a 2015 Honda Accord and he was told $29.95 with free tire rotation. He confronted the guy about his conversation with me and he tried to backstep and make excuses. Bottom line is he saw a woman walk in and thought he'd get away with taking advantage. I've also heard they reuse old oil and put that into customer cars but charge them as if it is new oil. HORRIBLE customer service. Horrible company!!!!!! read more

Took my vehicle in at 9:00 AM today for a brake inspection and I told the guy of the issues. I also ask that they rotate and balance the tires. I had to pick up my truck at 4:45 PM before they closed. They did nothing to my truck. Ashley, the "manager" didn't even speak to offer an excuse and the other guy just ask my name and said no charge. Really? No charge? They did not do anything. Unbelievable that companies like this can stay open. read more

I would not recommend the Union Road location to anyone. I was there on Friday February 7th,2020 and the manager used profanity toward me twice because they didn't explain the 90 day same as cash option to me properly over the phone two days prior to taking my car to them for new tires. I was told that I would need to pay an initial payment of $53.50 and once I did that and they started putting the new tires on I was told the initial payment was a maintenance fee and would not go toward the cost of the tires. When I told them to put the old tires back on Tim began to curse and told me if he put the old tires back on that he wouldn't balance them and I would have to drive away with the tires wobbling. They eventually gave me the $53.50 back and I went ahead and purchased the new tires but Tim Clay should never be allowed to deal with another customer. read more

Their mechanic Zeno is top-notch and I would recommend them to anyone. I have also saved a lot of money and the headache of having to drive to Charlotte to having misc. Just popped in this AM with a damaged tire- from I85 and had the tire replaced, and the monitoring computer reset in only ONE hour. Such fast and competent service!! Mr Nobody on Union Rd is great for Tires but I would not recommend taking your vehicle there for any mechanical repairs. I took my vehicle there as it was having transmission issues. They told me it would be close to $4000.00 for a transmission. Then they came back and said it would be a couple of weeks as the rebuilt transmissions for my vehicle were back ordered by 700 units and I could pay about 1500.00 more and they could get a new one and have it done in a few days so a total of 5,500.00. Had my vehicle towed to the dealership to see what they would charge they fixed my transmission( did not need a new one as Mr Nobody told me) replaced the torque converter and added fluids $1300 out the door, my vehicle is running great now. This is a huge case of Price Gouging and is actually against NC Article 15B of the NC Motor Vehicle Repair Act. So for this reason I would NOT advise to use them for any mechanical repair work. read more

I come from a long line of car enthusiasts and mechanics. The vehicle in question is a black 2012 VW CC with aftermarket wheels. I know my vehicle inside and out. I do my own maintenance and repairs unless I don't have the ability or it's economically infeasible to do it myself, to which I try to outsource that to independent shops and "stay local." Having said that, I have never, EVER dealt with such abysmal work and customer service in my entire life. Because of your shop I have a halfway working TPMS sensor and mix-matched lugnuts while traveling out of town. First off, the TPMS sensor. On June 27th, I order a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus 235/70 R18 from Tirebuyer.com. They recommended you and some other installers for the installation and if I went with one of the 'recommended installers' I received a small discount ($10-20). Mr. Nobody's was cheapest by a long shot, and I was having to be in Gastonia the next day anyways for an appointment so I decided to go with your shop on Union Road. They were delivered the afternoon of the 27th and your shop called me saying to come in that morning for installation, to which I did. On June 28th I came in first thing that morning, they took me right in, and I worked some from the breakroom, which is very nice. In all honesty the whole facility is nice & clean, something to be proud of. They got me out about 90 minutes later and all was good. I drove back to work and finished my day there. On the way home my TPMS sensor came on for the rear passenger side tire. The sensor acted like it failed to check in with the car, not reporting too low/high tire pressure. I figure it was a fluke--it is a German vehicle. Then the next day the same thing happen twice--once on the way to work and then on the way back. I ran the car through my VW-specific diagnostic software and the TPMS sensors all were registering with good batteries. I called the shop and spoke to Tim Clay, manager. I asked if they could check it for me because it was working before I had the tires installed. I explained to them exactly what's doing and if the sensor is malfunctioning then that's fine--but to take the tire off and verify the battery wasn't loose or a sensor wasn't dirty (stuff happens). Tim immediately wanted to disregard it as "well they tend to fail." I understand that, but they normally don't just intermittently fail like that unless there's something going on. He said to bring it in and they'll look at it. I came to the shop and met Mr. Clay. I explained to him in detail what was going on. He tried to say that "it could be any tire" because "the car doesn't know which sensor is where." On some cars that's the case but not with my Volkswagen--in 2012 they implemented an advanced TPMS that had individual sensors in the wheels and the car tracks each one if they're rotated. He wanted to argue about this and I was like, "fine, whatever. Just please check the rear passenger's sensor." They pull my car into the shop and put a generic TPMS. Tim came back and said "well, the batteries are good." "I know that, I told you that. But there's something that's causing the batteries to lose contact w/ the TPMS or there's something clogging a sensor. I want the tire taken off and have it inspected. I'll pay for it if I have to." "You probably need a new one--they're about $130-140. Your battery is failing" "How do you know that when you never took the tire off the rim? It's saying good battery? You've said that and I've seen it too. It's not the battery dying. If that's the case it would indicate low battery and it's not." From there Tim gave me my keys and said there's nothing they can do. I was so absolutely furious that I yanked them from his hands and pulled my car out of the bay myself, swearing to myself that I'll never go back. I hate being humiliated. I went back home and let the air out of that tire. I noticed moisture was coming out of the tire. I emptied it as much as I can and then filled it back up with air from my air compressor. Now the sensor only misbehaves once every two weeks or so, instead of every day. So, please, clean drain the moisture out of your air compressors. Then, Sept. 2nd, I attempted to rotate my own tires. I couldn't break the lugnuts using my tools and my impact wrench. I took it to national chain shop. They split my lugnut key and 2 of their sockets--and were only successful with getting half of them off. So now I had mixmatched lugnuts and praying I didn't bust a tire. I went home and had to buy $50 in tools to just get the rest of the old lugnuts off. I have no idea what they were torqued but they were way more tight than anything a tire shop and myself can use. That could've damaged the hubs and set me up in a dangerous situation considering I couldn't change my own tires in an emergency. I wouldn't trust them to put windshield washer fluid in it. read more

I'm very disappointed with these people. I was hoping that they would be a great alternative to places like Jiffy Lube... places that are only interested in ripping you off. But unfortunately they were just like Jiffy Lube. I had a coupon for a $19.95 oil change with other services such as tire rotation and fluid checks... you know, the basics. I made an appointment on their website (which should have been an indicator of the problems to come, since their advertisements and business cards have the wrong website address listed on them). I arrived early and showed the lady at the front desk my coupon, but asked her how much more I would need to pay since I knew that my car would need synthetic oil. She told me "ohhh, about $7". So I said okay and went into the waiting room. Oddly enough, in the waiting room I met a woman who was telling me her story about how her car was leaking antifreeze for weeks even though she had been able to drive around with no problem. When she brought it to Mr. Nobody's Tires they told her she had to have it fixed that day or her car could blow up. Now, I know a bit about radiators so I do know that the engine could possibly blow, but she told them that she needed to get her kids and asked "will it make it till the weekend so I can come back?" and they said.... "no". So, she went out of her way to call everyone she could to make arrangements for her kids, and sat there waiting for hours for the car to be fixed, when in reality she easily could have come back the next day. Regardless, after talking to her for a little while the mechanic comes into the waiting room and gives me the whole "you need this service and that service and this and that" runaround... to which I promptly said "no thank you". He then said to me "well, just so you know, you have to use synthetic oil in your car" to which I responded "yes, I know" (even though I know I dont HAVE to use synthetic oil, but its preferred). I asked him (this is the SECOND TIME I asked) "how much will it cost?" and he looked at the lady at the front desk and they nodded and said "ohhh, about $7". So I said great no problem. I expected I would be paying $19.95 + $7. When all was said and done, I was told that the final cost was $47.53. Obviously this is much different than $26.95. So I said to the lady "hold up, I thought this was only going to cost about $7 more than $19.95?" She responded "no, its about $7 less than the regular cost of a synthetic oil change, which is $60. You actually saved about $12". OBVIOUSLY this is not the same thing as saying "oh about $7" when I asked "how much more will it cost?". Another mechanic stood beside her.... and this guy looked like a sleaze ball... and he just made this half-smile grin and said "oh, you're getting a really good deal because synthetic oil lasts longer and bla bla bla". But the issue here isn't what type of deal I am getting and how good or bad it is. The issue is that I specifically asked TWICE "HOW MUCH MORE WILL IT COST?", and both times I was told "ohh, about $7". So... both the lady at the front desk and the mechanic that did the work.... LIED TO ME. Blatantly. This wasn't a "simple misunderstanding". This was a deliberate lie in which they knew that they were going to charge me the regular cost of a synthetic oil change, minus the discount that would have been applied for the regular oil change using the coupon. Because of this deliberate lie that TWO PEOPLE told me, I will not be returning to Mr. Nobodys. read more

I went to Mr. Nobody yesterday and had 4 new tires installed. Me being a single mother and at times feel intimidated with going to places of this source I was incredibly impressed with the entire process and felt I was treated fairly. Their customer service and hospitality was incredible and I would highly recommend to anyone and I came from Rock Hill and would do it again. They have earned my business that's for sure. They have two locations and I was at the Long Ave location, however I am sure the Union Road would be just as good. Great job guys and thanks so much for all you did. read more
