I came to this dealership at the recommendation of several friends who have purchased cars from Ted Witmer, a salesman at this location. Given that this was my first 'adult' purchase, I was a bit nervous to dive in. Ted was an excellent salesman - never pressuring me, answered all of my questions, and generally made me feel extremely comfortable with my decision, which is what led me to make the purchase. Further, the Finance Manager Jim took a lot of time to walk me through each and every document I was signing, and explained the loan process in depth to me. He was great, and again, made me feel 100% comfortable about making the purchase. I would highly recommend this dealership for first time millennials purchasing cars - while it can be a daunting experience, they made it less so. JP Chevrolet in Aberdeen Maryland has the worst service department in the area. The service manager is arrogant and condescending. He doesn't care about the customers and seriously lacks customer service skills. He will not work with you even if the problems on your vehicle are their fault. read more

I took my 2014 Silverado in for service two times before my recent negative experience. Both times the same mechanic told me he could not get my aftermarket rims off because they required a special lock tool. I explained to him both times that the lug nuts were all standard GM lug nuts and no special tool was required. Yes, I had to explain to a certified ASE mechanic that due to the way my rims were designed, he would not be able to use an impact socket (heartier sockets with thicker outside diameter), but instead he would have to use a thinner 12 point socket. Both times it took the service writer to understand what was required. After the second incident, I decided that I would not be returning to this dealership. I am really eating those words now because three days ago I threw a code (cold start/ rough idle) causing my check engine light to come on. I was on my way to work at APG so I decided that I would have to stop by this dealership due to time and the fact that my warranty was about to expire (I was at 35,991 miles when I drove on the lot). The service writer told me that I would have to bring the vehicle back the following day because there were no appointments available. I explained to him that I drive 150 miles round trip to work. He said it would not be a problem; my warranty would be honored. The following morning I dropped my truck off at 0830. I was due an oil change so I told them to do that as well. I made sure I explained the lug nut situation to the same service writer I had done so two times prior. He ensured me he would take care of it and I would receive a call to explain the fault that was causing my check engine light to come on. At 3:00 pm, I had received no call, so I called them. They stated that troubleshooting the code required the vehicle to be cold so basically they had not done anything to solve the problem. Remember, I dropped the vehicle off at 0830. When I arrived at 4:00 pm, they still had not done anything about this issue other than reset the code. Yes, they simply rest the code. Now, I am over my warranty without resolve. Here is the real kicker. The mechanic that changed my oil and rotated my tires this time wasn't an idiot. He showed me where my lug nuts had been way over torqued causing the flange that the wheel studs go through to "spider crack" around most of the stud holes in all of my rims. They are ruined! No one has touched this truck other than Chevy dealers (Towson Brothers, Koon's, and JP's). These very obvious cracks weren't noticed by any prior mechanic so that leads me to believe that the idiot mechanic was the cause. Oh yeah, my new lug nuts were ate up too. This was probably from the idiot mechanic using the wrong size socket. I was so frustrated that I left to clear my head. I would look for a solution when I was calmer. When I arrived home, one of my center caps was missing. It too had been over torqued causing the center cap to break and fall off. The bolts are still in the rim with chunks of plastic still attached. The crazy thing is that the center caps do not require removal to remove the rim. They should never be removed! The following day, I called and explained to the service manager what happened. The service manager said he would work with me by giving me a couple hundred miles for the code to come back on. Again, I drive 150 mile a day. These guys seriously just rest the code and sent me on my way. He also said that his mechanics are trained and always use a torque wrench when installing rims. Yeah right and yeah right. These guys are all idiots. I would avoid this place. So now I have a truck that requires new rims and will eventually throw the same code, but this time I will have to pay someone because my warranty is expired. They WILL buy me a center cap even though I have to trash my 20 inch x 10 inch powder coated rims. 2 grand down the toilet. Thanks JP Chevrolet! read more

I was looking for a loaded 2015 Silverado Truck - Crew Cab, i.e. an LTZ with the Z71 Off-road package. I didn't expect JP Chev to have exactly what I was looking because they are not a large super volume dealer. They are just the opposite, they continue the tradition of small-town dealerships where you know and trust the folks you are dealing with. I have been a service customer of JP Chev for about 25 years and they have delivered excellent and honest service over that entire period. So, while they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, they searched around and found my dream truck at a local dealership - and I drove it home that afternoon. It was a great truck, a good deal, and great staff --- plus, they threw in free pizza for lunch. Quality, honest service is what brought me into JP to buy a new truck, and it will keep me coming back! I'd recommend JP Chev to any friend or family member looking for a new vehicle and/or service! read more

I would give them a no star rating if it allowed me to. This place completely took advantage of my family's situation. We went in there on a pretty tight budget. We had a 4 month old baby at the time, and he ventured to the lot with us... And they STILL had the nerve to set us up with the biggest pile of **** I've ever come across. We had the vehicle 6 weeks before realizing that the alignment was so off, our front tires were completely bald. IN 6 WEEKS! We took it back in, they said they would replace the tires, and also fix the alignment. Which we were responsible for paying. Well we got it back, and there were new tires, but we soon realized, the alignment had NOT been fixed.. But yet our bill stated that it HAD. After running around in circles with them, someone finally admitted that it in fact, hadn't been realigned. So they did that. I kid you not, once a month, every month, sometimes twice, our car was in the shop. Our son and us had been stranded on the side of the street, on multiple occasions because of issues that shouldn't have passed inspection (which we were guaranteed it did.. )They knew what they sold us, and they were so heartless, they did it without even thinking twice. They put not only put my fiance and I in danger, but our little baby as well. It was not safe, and it was NOT reliable, and it should have NEVER left that lot. TO ANYONE. They should be ashamed in themselves. All they were worried about was making a buck!! read more
