I can not recommend this school more highly! I have 2 teenage sons that hit driving age - the younger was maybe a little too eager to get his license, and the older one was anxious about it. Their online drivers ed program was strait forward and nicely set them up for their permits. They are also solid administratively, setting up appointments quickly and efficiently, as well as providing good reminders and being responsive when we had questions, or changes were needed. For behind the wheel training, we had Miguel teach both of them, and he was so patient and thoughtful and informative. He handled their different temperaments nicely, and after 5 excellent and encouraging lessons at the end of which he did a great run through of the possible drive test circumstances, my sons passed on their first tries. Best driving school in LA! My behind-the-wheel class and tests were taken with Miguel, and he was absolutely amazing. Miguel is very caring, supportive, and overall a fantastic teacher. He always brought a positive attitude to every single session. I did have another instructor, Cynthia, who was just as sweet and kind! Ella, the receptionist, is incredible! Always happy to help me with my questions and concerns. Amazing customer service! I failed the first time (ran a red light), but the second time I passed with flying colors & got nothing wrong! Scheduling of lessons was easy and rates are reasonable. I don't feel accurate and constructive feedback was given after the lessons though. We scheduled our au pair for lessons to practice and become more comfortable before taking the driving test (she had an int'l license) we were told she was a fine driver and mastered all requirements of the test; however, she took the test twice and failed both times. They are sticklers with scheduling, so don't sleep on your times and dates or they will charge you. The woman who books the reservations is very professional and they are great with reminders. I waited until 3 months after passing my behind the wheel test and obtaining my license to review him because I am proud to say since then I have had 0 tickets, 0 accidents and 0 fear while driving after taking his lessons. Abraham was a fantastic teacher, he made me feel at ease during our first lesson and I gained so much confidence from his teachings. He's professional but very chill, funny, and very kind. My mom had caused me to have some anxiety while learning (tried to let her teach me to drive lol, you know how parents are) but all the anxiety I had gathered completely went away after a few minutes with Abraham. I requested him for the remaining 4 lessons of my package. Though I did not pass my test on my first try (I went to a DMV 2 hours away from LA due to lack of available appointments for my test, so I was not familiar with the roads and huge bike lanes) I did indeed pass on my second try with flying colors. My first failure was NOT Abraham's fault, and he was very supportive of me even though I was extremely upset at myself for failing. Remember, even if you fail your first test like me, which is very common, you have to pick yourself up and try again. We all make mistakes! Just passed my driving test on the first go! I opted for the 5 driving lesson (10 hrs) package, and added on the drive test service to my behind the wheel training package. My first lesson was May 10th, with very limited driving experience, and I had my driving test on May 31st. The school was very professional, returned calls quickly, and accommodated my schedule. My instructor, Luis, was a very experienced and knowledgeable driving instructor. He was patient, personable, and helped me feel comfortable behind the wheel. For the DMV experience, he picked me up an hour before my scheduled drive test time, and I drove to the DMV, practicing along the way. I used the school's practice car to take the drive test, so I was able to take the test in a vehicle with which I was familiar and comfortable. Amazing service. Our daughter turned 18 in October of 2022, she graduated her high school in summer of 2022 but we never imagined how fast time went by, she then starts college in Long Beach and then it hits me. Passed my first drivers test in less than a month thanks to Luis! The instructor was very patient and informative during lessons.

I had 3 behind-the-wheel lessons with Ricardo and Miguel. I've had my license for 7/8 years, so why am I going back to driving school?! Well, because of college, ride-sharing apps and a close commute, I never had the need to drive around LA. Besides driving in LA is intimidating. Safe to say, when I decide it was time for me to start driving again, I was so anxious and scared of relearning especially with COVID-19 going on! Luckily Abel's Driving School took all the proper COVID precautions with temperature checks, giving me disinfecting wipes, always keeping their masks on (properly!) and keeping the windows rolled down to keep the air circulating. Unlike other driving instructors, Abel's Driving Schools is very structured and you have a list of driving goals you need to check off (parallel parking, freeway, canyons, u-turns etc.) Both Ricardo and Miguel answered all my "dumb" driving questions and always gave me the best tips. THEY HAVE NO AVAILABILITY My son had one lesson with Cynthia that was great. She was on time and he felt very comfortable with her. I was then told to call the office to schedule his additional lessons. When I called I was told they had no appointments (with the exception of during school hours) for SIX weeks! It would have been nice to have been told that they had no availability before I paid in advance for ten lessons. The scheduler gave me a refund without an argument which was appreciated but did not seem to recognize the error on their part to sign new students up with no services available to offer them! read more

Great school good instructors i recommend cinthia she gives great tips super nice and patient! The car that they use is really smooth I loved practicing in there car! One thing I do wanna say is i don't recommend an instructor named derick man talks WAY TO MUCH I couldn't even concentrate on the road , wasn't giving me any tips just talking about what he was gonna give his family for Christmas. Pretty annoying considering I paid 735$ for there 5 lessons package. Don't book a lesson with him. These instructors are all equally great - I mainly worked with Miguel, but also Ricardo and Antero. They are all clear, concise and encouraging. They were patient with me too when I first started lessons, given I'm from the U.K. and therefore have only ever driven on the left hand side of the road, and the road laws are all totally different over there. My experience at Abels Driving School was great!! I'm going to sum it all up in point form below: THE SCHOOL: I looked at a dozen schools and read through hundreds of reviews (no jokes!) and Abel's had the best reviews! So it really was a no brainier. I went to the office personally and James (front desk) was so welcoming and explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. Also shout out to the lady who often answers the phone (I think her name is Ella) She is so sweet and cheerful and happy all the time! Such a pleasure to speak to! THE RATES As I said earlier, I looked at a dozen schools and compared reviews and prices and Abel's truly has the best rates. There are some schools that raised their prices quite a bit during the pandemic which I think is so unethical! But Abels stayed reasonable and affordable. THE SAFETY PROCEDURES (Covid): All instructors will do a temperature check before you enter the car. They wear masks and they will wear a shield if you request it. The car is stocked up with sanitiser and wipes. The instructor will sanitise the steering wheel and other places you will be touching in the car. You are also welcome to do it yourself if you feel more comfortable. THE INSTRUCTORS: I had my first class with Cinthia! At first I was nervous because I wasn't sure she would be patient and calm but as soon as I met her I felt at ease! She is such a patient, kind, cool and calm person which is exactly what you need when you take your first driving lesson! She explains everything slowly, precisely and to the point. She's very understanding and very approachable....you can ask her the silliest questions and she will answer them without judgement! She has a wonderful way of instructing you while you drive so that you feel at complete ease! My journey to passing my test began with Cinthia and ended with her! I had about 3-4 lessons with her. Thank you Cinthia!!! James, Abraham and Derik......I had classes with all three instructors. James is super confident, funny and chill. He is very precise with everything and has great tips and tricks (especially on parallel parking!). Abraham is so lovely. He is such a sweet and kind person!! So soft spoken and very calm. He has a great way of instructing which is very precise and detailed! Derik is wonderful and tells it like it is!!! Everyone reading....I just have to say this....you may see some reviews on here that Derik is strict and stern and to some people he might come across as rude...and to be honest I was really afraid when I heard that I would have a class with him....but he was really none of that! It was such a great lesson with Derik! The thing about Derik is that he doesn't sugar coat things....he will tell you if you do something wrong or if you need to work on something. He's not going to tell you that you are doing a great job when you're not! And I really appreciate that because driving is not a joke... it's serious and it can be dangerous! So you really want people who will teach you and instruct you the right way. Derik is amazing, he's kind, calm very approachable and very very detailed! But he's stern and honest...If he feels you need to take a few days off and go learn the handbook again before you get behind the wheel, he's not afraid to tell you that! It's only going to make you a better driver! So to sum it up ....I loved all my instructors! They were all kind, respectful, calm and they all made me feel at ease. At first I thought that I would stick to just one instructor but then after two lessons with Cinthia I was forced to go with someone else because her schedule was booked out. And I'm really glad that happened because otherwise you tend to get too comfortable and safe. And also I learned something valuable from every single one of my instructors! So I would suggest take two lessons with one person and then maybe go with another instructor as well. It's going to help you get out of your comfort zone and you never know...you might just learn something new or a new and easier way to do something from another instructor! I believe that you can learn something from everyone be it good or bad positive or negative...it teaches you something...and everyone has something valuable to share! I had 4 behind-the-wheel lessons with Luis and also the driving test. I had absolutely no prior experience in driving. I did not even know how to start a car. I am so happy that I could pass the drive test and got my driver license thanks to Luis! I am more than happy! I am so grateful for Luis' patience.
