The tech claimed he checked everything and said it just needed a coolant refill. He filled it and then hit me with a bill for $800 -- and that was supposedly with a discount. I thought the price was outrageous, but he insisted it was normal. Thankfully, I got a second opinion. I called around and was referred to Durocher's in Monroe. Their technician came out, did a simple pressure test, and found the real problem: a leak in the evaporator coil. I told the Durocher's tech what Downriver Appliance Repair did, and he flat-out said they ripped me off. A refrigerant refill, IF that was all it needed, should have been no more than $250. But in my case, it never should've been refilled at all without checking for leaks first. Bottom line: Downriver Appliance Repair charged me $800 for a temporary, pointless fix without doing proper diagnostics. These guys are either inexperienced or just scamming people when they're in a tough spot. Shame on them for taking advantage of people like this. I wouldn't trust them to fix a toaster.

I didn't receive a call back from Katie's Appliance Repair Wednesday morning May 27th, so I called again Wednesday afternoon May 27th, leaving a phone message and a text message, hoping to hear back from them. I called the Assurant ( Lowe's extended warranty's). I was told that Katie said there's nothing wrong with it, How could you detect what is wrong with it with just looking underneath the sink and inside the washer without even testing it. I called her and left a msg. and she came back to my house two days after without any appt. at all. I told her what the Assurant told me and she said she will send a request for replacement so I followed up with it. And I was told that she needs another opinion. I don't understand her reason for it. Why tell me different report. Very bad service. Another company today did test to the washer and saw the leaks where it's coming from. need to replace the door so will see what happens next.

    An open letter to American Dix Appliance Service…read more Yesterday one of your employees came to my home to repair my dryer and my refrigerator.  For the second time this employee made comments about overloading the dryer, which we do not do, when the part he installed 3 weeks prior failed. And then pulled out the refrigerator an proclaimed in front of my 78 yo mother and my kids that it was "filthy"! First of all shame on you, you have no idea what people are going through.  I cleaned the back of the refrigerator 6 months ago and if it was "filthy" as you say that means when you were out prior to this visit you didn't do your job of looking for the problem on the backside of the refrigerator. Secondly let me inform you, actually I told you last month when the dryer had the same problem my husband had a debilitating disease and I had been taking care of him and apologized the house wasn't up to par. And I also made mention my husband passed mid June. What you don't know about is the debilitating depression and anxiety I've been thru watching my husband die a slow death. Being afraid to run the vacuum for fear of not hearing him call out. Just tossing things in another room so no one else suspects your having depression and anxiety because God knows you can't look like you don't have it together. Feeling the guilt of not having a clean house and apologizing to every person that walks into you space. I would rather buy a new appliance then have you step foot back in my "Filthy" home. Thank you for reminding me people in the world are still assholes!
