Called 07-18-24 spoke with an older man who didn't identify himself. I specifically stated that I needed help renting scaffolding. He was very mean spirited in his tone and tried to make me feel stupid. The ceiling height is approximately 20ft. He put me on hold to measure an item. He referenced 5ft Baker's Scaffolding...NO clue of the safety issues or anything else. I would need 4...easy math (even for me). After getting smart he stated "you do the math." I commented "not sure what's wrong, I just need help figuring out how to get the job done safely." He said you can only stack 3 high (so my math was mathing). I wouldn't rent a hammer from this place. If you can't be professional or are quickly frustrated, get another job or don't answer the phone. It is truly bothersome when folks choose to be negative. Called to get a quote and if the option was available to reserve/book for chairs and table rental. The Rep answering the phone immediately turn down service stating have to come in person to do anything . I simply was continuing to at least get the quote and just kept cutting me off to state "he can't change or stretch the rule." As I tried to finish my sentence for the third time the Rep cut me off and passed the phone to a manager stating "this guy is just an asshole " .No need to inform the manager of what his employee said because he said it directly to him. The manager states "I can't control what people say" and goes on to inform me they aren't corporate but family owned. Had a make another review! Mitch responded to my previous one, and spoke lies. Never did i ask to have the machine free of charge for a week? Just would like to point out once again the unprofessionalism of this place. Making up lies to make themselves look better. Please beware of this place! Truly, the issue wasn't not receiving a full refund. I understood having to pay for the 2 hours time used was reasonable, even though those 2 hours were me trying to have the machine run correctly. Do not rent from this company if possible! We rented 300 chairs and 51 of them were damaged. The manager's Steve response was "Oh Well" you should have called if the chair legs were damaged. We only wanted chairs with working legs, but with ABC rental that was asking for too much. Not only was the customer service poor, but the chairs were rented for the church and they did not care that they delivered broken chairs. Beware! ABC Rental doesn't stand behind what they rent! The employee rudely answered the phone and stated "That's because we don't have that many!" Update your website and get better customer service. The customer service is very bad, I paid cash and was requested a credit card for incidentals and they charged my credit card too, they also charged me for an extra day that chairs and tables were sitting in my property without letting me know, manager was very rude about it and not helpful at it. The guys doing the work in the yard are knowledgeable and polite. The guys behind the counter are a different matter. Arrogant and condescending are the nicest things to be said. Training in how to conduct oneself with a customer are greatly needed for those folks. I will certainly think twice before using this location in the future. read more

So my sister did her research and decided on this company to rent tents from for her wedding. Let me start with the fact that they were over an hour late than the latest time in their drop off window. Brought it right before closing time and forgot the stakes and brought one of the two in the wrong size. Said they would be right back with them and of course didn't come back. And the real kicker here is that no one told her these two tents she was renting for her WEDDING were stripped! One red and white and the other blue and white. (And he original one they brought in the wrong size was plain white)Given the delivery day was the day before the wedding and they couldn't even show up on time, she wasn't risking asking for something else. So with the tents not being set up the day before, allowing us to set up the tables the day before, which was the plan. We had to wait till the morning of to get the tents up and tables up. Now it's pick up day and yet again they're late. Absolutely do not recommend this place if it's for a wedding. Caused the bride and groom unnecessary stress and a unwanted carnival theme with the atrocious mix matched colored stripped tents. read more

I just left ABC Party Rental on Goldenring Rd in Rosedale, MD. I rented (6) chairs from them for my party. I noticed one was broken when I picked them up so the young man in the warehouse replaced it. During the party, one broke when someone sat on it. I shared that when I returned them. I go inside to get a receipt and the guy at the register says I'll be right back. Apparently, he needs to discuss the chair "issue" with the owner. He comes back after 5 minutes and says to me that somebody had to have stood on the chair to cause that damage. He's been doing this for 15 years and he's never had a chair come back broken. I then say that I've been renting from them for years and never returned anything damaged, furthermore I am extremely offended that you would accuse me of lying about a $1.25 chair rental. The owner comes out and basically reiterates what he says. I repeat my explanation to her but she continued with her belief that the damage couldn't have come from just sitting. I say, it was a game night with 40 and over guests...nobody was standing on chairs...the guys say, maybe to hang up decorations? Sir, let me say this again... NOBODY STOOD IN THAT FLIMSY ASS CHAIR! The owner is like, calm down, no-one is accusing you of lying. Ummm, if I'm telling you that the chair broke when the young lady sat in it and YOU are saying that's not what happened so YES you are calling me a liar! There is no point in continuing this conversation, what's the resolution? They charged me $21.20 for that chair. If they didn't have my credit card info, I NEVER would have paid it. Rental companies have insurance for damaged inventory. I HATE to have my intelligence insulted. Rented a skid steer for 8hrs. Just after 4 hrs the bucket/lift locked up. ABC swapped it out for no charge and gave an additional 4 hrs of use. I love these guys. I will only rent from them. read more

We rented two 20X40 tents, tables and a dance floor for a wedding. The total was $2,500. The day of the tent installation a gutter (which I paid $40 for was not installed. The installers asked if they could borrow a ladder from me as they did not bring one themselves but I did not have a ladder. They said they would come back tomorrow to install the gutter. We had 4 to 6 inches of rain that night and both tents drained into the middle of the venue. I had to rent fans, a wet shop vac and purchase straw and astro turf to mitigate the flooding. When I brought this to the attention of the store, I was told that they tried to use a ladder but it was too wet. This is a lie as I was told they did not have a ladder and were coming back in the morning with one. The store was unwilling to discuss any means to address my complaint, and would not even consider taking off the cost of the $40 gutter from a $2500 contract. I will never do business with ABS Rentals again, and urge any readers of this review to do the same. read more

so this past weekend I needed 4 yards of concrete and went to ABC to get carts of concrete. from the time we walked thru the door (8:30am) you could tell the counter guy (which turned out to be the manager and the store owners son) did not want to be there nor did he want anyone there. When I asked for concrete he stated he was not mixing because the sand was froze in his machine. Now the day before was over 50 degrees and had only dropped to 31 degrees maybe for an hour. At the time of this conversation it was sunny and over 40 degrees. So finally he agreed to check the sand at 9am. Meanwhile the phone was ringing and other people asking for concrete which he was turning down. 8:50am he walked out and stuck the sand, the stick went right in 2 times. He walked back in and still said he wasn't mixing. He kept saying it was froze and it was only after me asking for his boss's name and pointing out that I thought someone would care that he was turning down money that he finally agreed to mix at 10am. (now remember they stop mixing at 11am and I needed 4 yards/ 4 trips to make in 1 hour). trying to shorten story, I managed to get my brother there with his dually so he could take a 2 yard cart and I only had to make 2 trips. Not a hundred percent sure but I know for a fact another guy came in and bought 2 yards, another guy bought 2 yards and at least and additional 4 yards plus my 4 yards went out in 1 hour. wonder how many would have went out if this guy Steve would have wanted to work and would have had the machine running at 8 or 9am like it could have. ABC wouldn't have made any money that day if not for me pushing. But he was able to get me one more time. I took a picture of the cart before I took it and then after. I washed it out better then when I got it and he still charged me 15 saying it needed washed out. I watch the fork lift guy hook to it and park it without washing it (because it didn't need washed out) I then refused to leave until he washed it at which point they refused to wash it while I was there. Steve harassed me from the time I walked thru the door all the way to the end. I guess being the owners son gives him a free pass to do what he wants. I can only tell you that I have a son probably close to the same age and if that were my son acting that way I would not have him in that position. Some parents think their kids can do know wrong but i'm not that dad. The guys (actually) working there were all nice guys. The guy mixing couldn't have been nicer. One bad egg ruins it all. I know this guys motto is that he doesn't care If I or anyone buys from him because he thinks the next guy will. Probably true but if I had a customer service business I would want customers coming there because they want to and not because they have too. This is one guy that I won't do business again there unless I have too. If you have to business with this company always Remember They are the ones doing you a FAVOR. read more
