ABC nearly doubled their prices. ive used their services just 3 times. the first 2 times were good- the carpet looked nice and they protected my furniture with raisers. Today, they didn't use furniture protection AND the cat urine smell was just as strong after they were done. I can clean pet accidents with Folex (amazing stuff) but thought a professional clean would be better. I refused to pay the $497!!! Will not be using them again. read more

I have used this rug cleaner for years and just recently brought in my rug for cleaning after dog was sick. They checked my rug with a special light and found she had been sick on it a total of three places. Just picked it up and my pups were thrilled to have it back. It smells clean and looks nearly new. The lady who waited on me carried it to my car and then invited me in to look at other rugs available for sale. I am seriously thinking of buying one for myself! I have been so impressed and happy with ABC in both my home and my office building. Most recently, we used their services at my office building to clean hallways and office carpeting. It was "green" in that they used water, but no chemicals or fragrances. The technician was extremely helpful in identifying rugs that were too worn down to benefit by cleaning. He did such a great job with my office's ancient, white, wall to wall carpet that several clients asked if it were new. He also followed through on all the practical details that are icing on the cake: He arrived on time, for example; he finished on time; and he called when he was done to confirm he was done. On the home front, ABC also quarantined and then cleaned an aging oriental carpet that they discovered had signs of moths. It looks great. When I was ready to throw out a synthetic rug with stains that included food and cat vomit, ABC actually brought it looking close to NEW! My contact there at the office was Jamie, and she was outstanding: patient with all my questions, smart, and very knowledgeable. All work was done in a timely way. I should preface this by saying I'd love to give them 5 stars, but I've only challenged them in some modest ways so far. I was concerned when I moved to Ithaca that I would have to travel far to have my oriental rugs cleaned and repaired. I was pleased to find ABC here in town, and so far have been delighted by their very exceptional knowledge of oriental rugs, as well as their careful cleaning skills. I believe they would be up to the task of even complex repairs, should I need them. It's also nice that they will clean even boring contemporary rugs at reasonable prices. read more

I collect Oriental rugs and have brought 9 of them to Ken and Harriet Adams at ABC for cleaning and/or repair. Some of the rugs have come from dusty antique stores and frankly were filthy when I brought them to be cleaned. When I picked them up, I was amazed at how great they looked - even the fringe looked brand new. Besides outstanding cleaning service and repair, Ken and Harriet are two of the nicest folks I have ever met. They are friendly, helpful, and have vast knowledge and experience with Oriental rugs, treating these carpets with the respect due to works of art. They are generous about sharing their expertise, and are also a lot of fun to talk to. I am so happy I found this place; I've learned so much, gotten such great service, and made two new friends. read more

I've used them several times for cleaning. They even cleaned a rug I got in Turkey which my cat had been living on. They handwashed it and it looked great. Now I am going to take my chinese silk rug there. Maybe they can sell it, as well as clean it, since I don't have room for it. This is a story about a carpet cleaning company that needs to clean up its act. If my experience is any measure of how they do business, my advice would be to look elsewhere for rug and carpet cleaning services. To make a long story short, they charged me for services I never authorized, and then held my rug hostage until I paid to get it back from them. They also wasted a lot of my time. Longer version: I spoke twice with a woman named Vanessa about how much it would cost to clean an 8.5 x 12 oriental rug which appeared in excellent shape, had no noticeable odors, and seemed only to need a basic refresh/cleaning. She gave me a base estimate of around $350-450, but said it would cost more if their analysis detected pet stains or other issues. In both of the phone calls I had with Vanessa before the rug was picked up, not once did she disclose that I would be charged for anything associated with ABC Carpet's "analysis" process. When I was then given an outrageous estimate of $1,098 to clean an 8.5 x 12 rug with no evident problems, I rejected their services and asked for the rug to be returned. I was then told I would be responsible for paying $173 for a disinfectant process they used on the rug upon its arrival, allegedly due to it showing "beetle damage." No issues were visible to the naked eye before it was sent in, but Vanessa said beetle damage was becoming a more common problem in our area, possibly due to climate change, and that this could only be seen under their special black lights. She claimed that disinfecting our rug had been necessary in order to protect other rugs in their care. This raises a couple questions. First, why is it the customer's responsibility to pay major charges because ABC Carpet does not have adequate measures in place to keep one rug's issues from affecting others they have on hand for cleaning? Second, if this growing problem of beetle damage is a real thing, as Vanessa claims it is, why wasn't it disclosed ahead of time that I would be charged a hefty fee for disinfection if beetle damage were discovered during the analysis process? After a time-consuming back and forth that did nothing but increase my misgivings about this company, it became clear that I was not going to get my rug back unless I paid ABC Carpet's ransom. Now that I have the rug back, and I am out $173, I am sharing this story so that others can make a more informed decision about dealing with this company. read more

Thanks for the excellent job in cleaning our three very very dirty Karastan carpets. The colors just pop and they feel so very soft. We could not be happier with the results.
