I have been taking lessons at Abbey Music for many years. Back in my mid-40's, I was looking for a new hobby, and without any past musical experience purchased an acoustic guitar and started taking lessons. Over the years, Abbey Music Studio has taught me the basic fundamentals of music and I have since learned to play acoustic and bass guitar. I really like the approach of learning a bit and then being able to record a song or two to measure your progress. Paul also instilled enough confidence in me to perform in front of a live audience at local open jams (something I never dreamed I would be able to do). My 8 year old daughter is learning how to play guitar, piano and improve her vocal skills. She's been taking lessons at Abbey Music for about a year now. Her teacher, Paul, makes learning music fun and I'm impressed by how quickly she's learning. What I really appreciate about Paul's teaching style is once he senses she's caught on to something he challenges her more. I also like how versatile the lessons are in that we aren't locked into any one instrument for weeks on end. I decided to learn the harmonica even though I had no music background. Paul started me with basic fundamentals, which I needed. He then led me through the various stages as I progressed. He always stresses the fundamentals yet encourages trying new things and testing new levels for growth. He encourages improvisations in addition to learning new songs. I have been taking my six year old granddaughter to Paul for piano and guitar lessons for about six months. She looks forward to it every week. Pail is a wonderful instructor that has a unique way of creating a lesson plan that works for his students on an individual level.
