I lived in the Middle East and ate Yemeni food weekly. Hadramout is a Yemeni restaurant and secret…read moretreasure in Manchester on Curry Mile. We arrived at the restaurant at just about noon when it opens. They saw us waiting outside though and let us in and gave us some karak tea! So warm and perfect. We thought that the only tables in the restaurant were downstairs at the entrance but it turns out there is a huge upstairs with carpeted rooms! There is a huge main room which seems to be for the men and then there are several smaller rooms in the family section. We decided to sit in one of the family rooms which is about the size for 2 people and maybe up to 4 if you squeeze in. As usual we started off the meal with some maraq lamb broth soup and salad. The salad dressing and sahawiq are in bottles which is so clever! It works really well to squirt the sahawiq over everything and it wasn't spicy here at all and tasted great with everything. I had also ordered some yogurt salad just in case to mediate any spiciness. For main dishes, we got lamb kebsa and chicken fahsa. I had originally ordered chicken ogda but the Yemeni guy said they couldn't make it in the black pots I think because there are too many bones. I don't like bones in the chicken ogda anyway and so he offered to make chicken fahsa which would fit in the black pot. It was my first time trying chicken fahsa and it was really good. They made it with a tomato base so it actually tasted like the chicken ogda that I like! So perfect. They also make malawah bread here which was awesome and made the meal complete. Another nice surprise is that they make fresh juice! We had fresh lime juice with the meal and it was really good. For dessert, we had some fatta masoob. It's very heavy and we were so full by the time we started to eat it but it was yummy. Hadramout is many times better than Queen of Sheba Restaurant in London and also 1/3 the price! We paid £22 for 2 people for this amazing and perfect lunch at Hadramout. For more information about Yemeni food, please visit here: http://yemenfood.blogspot.com/p/food.html

Hidden away on one of the side streets off wilmslow road, this understated, simple decor eatery was a gem of a find. Arabic food has always registered on my radar perhaps once a month, but this discovery may change all that. The menu is quite expansive and the pricing is extremely economically viable given the huge portions of food on offer. The roast lamb and chicken comes slow cooked with the rice and is nothing short of divine. One portion is easily big enough for two people and no one is gonna complain about food for the next few days it is THAT filling. There's also a host of sides that one can try, the lamb soup has a sharp taste that once engulfed by the palate has a delayed endorphin fuelled chemical reaction (in other words: its mint!) I have therefore declared thursdays as Hadramout day. It's a long menu and I intend to get through it next year! Canny wait.

I was in the mood for Mediterranean and there it was across from Costa Coffee, offering the FLAVOURS OF LEBANON. The ambiance was laid back and reminiscent of an Arabian outdoor garden, including climbing vines and flowers, hanging lights and intricate tile designs, all whilst Arabic music played in the background. The lamb kofta was deliciously seasoned & the vegetarian mezze very nice as well. I would have given 5 stars if the wait from the kitchen wasn't so long. However, I will def return on my next visit to Chester. *gratuity included.

We had a choice of places to eat here with Yo Sushi nearby, but it has become way too overpriced for what it is, and Tampopo which was also nearby, but we remembered that the last time we ate there the portions were just mean and the food wasn't hot. So in here it was. It's an open kitchen but I suspect most of the dips are factory made off site and plated here. We ordered a mezze platter for one and a mixed grill main consisting of chicken & lamb which came (served fairly cold) with a salad and a choice of spicy potato (the waitress declared the potatoes weren't that spicy) rice or cous cous. Cous cous was instantly our choice and it was very good. The food was refreshingly delicious with fresh herbs lifting the taste buds to another level. The salad with the mixed grill was ace tasting. The mezze plate was entirely vegetarian with some vegan food on the plate. The portions were mostly generous, but only one small falafel; should be two. Whilst it was all delicious the smoked aubergine and the baba ghanuj were really stand - out stunning and the flat bread on the side was a wonderful vehicle to dunk and munch. The service was friendly, but on the slow side and we got the wrong bill at the end of our meal. It was also odd to hear that only credit card payments were accepted and one couldn't put a tip onto the card payment either. We were fine with card payment and if we can't tip than that's that but it would be good manners if not necessary to tell guests this before they are seated or put a note on the window. Solid three stars - if the hot food was hot and the service focussed it would be four stars but if I'm not getting tips I wouldn't be super efficient either and to management - it's not rocket science guys & gals.

But Lebanese cuisine is exactly what Alamir on Eastbank Street specialises in, offering its customers a menu full of various exotic Middle Eastern dishes for them to try and hopefully enjoy. The menu there is full of variety as well as good options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike and their prices are generally pretty reasonable. It includes smaller dishes which you can get a few of as well as more substantial main dishes, such as samak billbatata (cod cooked with potatoes in a tomato sauce, very delicious) or various cous cous dishes that are very interesting sounding. The restaurant itself is quite tiny inside but they make good use of the space in there, meaning the atmosphere is cosy rather than cramped, and the staff there are friendly and attentive, ensuring your experience at Alamir is always a pleasant one. A good place to go if you're looking for something a bit different for dinner.

I realise that kicking off with a five star review for somewhere I've tried once might be jumping…read morethe gun, but I really think that these guys are a quality outfit. Picture the scene: a weary traveller having just spent 24 hours making her way home. Having stuffed herself beyond decency with calorific foreign delights, healthy food was required, and stat. That seems like a paradox - healthy take away? I know, but my friends, it can be done! Here's how. Lebanese and Middle Eastern treats. Of course, the dishes aren't exclusively healthy, there's still a bit of frying and such going on, but when you've had your mouth around the delectably green and fresh Tabbouleh parsley salad, you'll know you've hit flavour country. Never have I delighted in eating greens more. But why choose this place over the established Shawarma? For some reason, these guys' online menu is a lot more happening. I've been known to go overboard when Just Eating and, on this occasion, I didn't buck the trend. Yes, dropping £25+ was very much overkill, but when there's so much to pick from I get carried away. Plus I've perfected the reheating system so my take aways often fuel me for two days in the very least... Don't ask, I know. (Lazy, strange, gluttonous. All of the above.) Anyway, here's what I ordered, and here's how it tasted. For the aforementioned princely sum, I was able to stuff myself with Tabbouleh, Wark Inab, Falafel, Batata Hara, Houmous, Halloumi Cheese Sandwich, Sambousek, Lamb Shawarma, Kibbeh Shameyleh, and Arayes Dubai. A veritable feast of flavour and texture. The portions, given the price, were incredibly generous - take the Wark Inab (vine leaves with rice) - for £3 you get about seven of those bad boys. The Lamb Shawarma meal itself is a whole pile of deliciousness, and how they managed to season and flavour the thinly sliced lamb, I have no idea. In that dish, the boxed meal even came with salad, houmous, garlic mayo, and a few other treats - there were even a few chips! What a boon. In particular, the salad, potatoes (batata) and lamb meal deserve special mention. All of the above was beautifully cooked, and deliciously fresh to taste, but those really stood out for me among the goodies on offer. With this kind of food, you really do need a wee group of you so you can bulk order and share, as all the flavours combined make a truly lovely eating experience. Even the random fluorescent pink vegetable (no idea what it was in the end) was flippin' tasty! Anyway, rambling over, long story short, I loved this place. As filling as any Chinese/Indian meal, but much less heavy and full of fresh and moreish tastes. When each item sets you back between £3-6, it's not only a delicious way to spend some cash, but a very bargainous way to dine.

I was very hungry from traveling all day seeing the Beatles sites so I ate it anyway, but it was very mediocre. It tasted like Chuck E. Cheese pizza quite frankly, my brother got the americana pizza. It had pepperoni on it. He said it tasted junk but that wasn't the end of the line my other brother got the vegetarian pizza he described it as frozen. He didn't like the pizza because it tasted too dehydrated. It did not have wet sauce. The pizza stayed completely intact. If you held it completely upside down, the toppings were like glued on, and they didn't really have a particular taste. Everything just kind of tasted extra chewy, but without any sort of spice, we tried the different sauces in order to make it taste a bit better and I have to say that adding the tomato sauce on top did help to Live in it a bit, but it really still fell short of something worth paying for it to sit down restaurant. My mother got lamb kebab. She described it as good and it was all right so nothing really crazy if you wanna get a bite I think you should go somewhere else personally but I hope you enjoyed my review. Cheers!

Nope its not a randomly named curry house, Beirut serves food deliciouso Lebanese-o! For those not in the know, Manchester's curry mile has seen a mini Middle eastern revolution of its own. The Mile of curry is now equipped with a plethora of Shisha bars as well as restaurants such as Beirut. In honestly of alls, my first impression of the place was not great. The capital could be described as chaotic from the kids running around whilst parents going to town on their meat feasts to the directionless type waiting staff, more laid back than the kobedas on show. First impressions however don't last and I'm here to announce that the food thankfully did make a lasting impression. I'd personally recommend the mixed grill, even if I struggled to get through half of it. Don't be put off by the cover, its the contents of the book that count. If Beirut was a book, I would highly recommend it, it was a great read.
