    Black Fettuccini

Good but mostly forgettable meal and service in a fun, hectic, family environment. We didn't go because it's Kosher, rather for the excellent Italian menu and midtown location. We went for the crudo also... bummer they were out of both crudos even through we arrived at 6:15. Polenta was cheesy and delicious. Black fettuccini was excellent and sea bream was cooked perfectly and buttery and delicious. Lots of folks seemed to be enjoying the wood-fired pizza. One issue was we booked the "chef's counter" on Tock which we thought would be a cool experience but turned out to be just a counter seat looking at the dishwashing station with the door open... lots of silverware clanging, plate stacking and watching dishwashers eating leftovers off diner's plates. Not upscale for sure.

All the food here is amazing!!! Everything is so tasty and delicious!! Each dish is so different but all the flavors together really mess well. The service is excellent they are very warm and welcoming and take good care of you. It is a cute, small, intimate experience. Has some bar seats and tables The noise from the kitchen is very loud but you can tune it out. I recommend coming in small groups!

One of the best pizzas of my life. Eggplant was so good and crust was amazing. Beets were tasty. Bathroom was cool with a fun pattern.

What an incredible meal! We we're so lucky that the weather was rainy today as we were able to snag a great table in the air conditioned "street tables" on 49th Street without a reservation. I totally suggest you make one if you want to be seated. Everything we ordered was so fresh and with quality ingredients. You can tell there has been a lot of thought and love put into this food experience and menu. The Lasagna was the highlight of our meal and will be the reason we return. It tasted like we were in Italy, right in Midtown Manhattan ! Jelena was our server and she provided excellent service along with some great suggestions. The Mushroom Pizza was also very good, and we even used it to soak up some of the extra sauce left from the lasagna--- can't waste any of that ! The cheesecake for dessert was very good, and oh so light and fluffy! We will definitely be back. YUM!!!

This place is kosher. I came with a work group. They offer beer and wine but not liquor for cocktails. The olive oil focaccia appetizer was delicious! All of their pastas are vegetarian. I ordered the spaghetti. It tasted good, but I would've preferred having some protein. For dessert, I had the lemon curd. The curd itself was delicious, but the brown sugar crumbles were a little tough. Overall, this is a decent place to go for Italian food, especially if you're looking for somewhere kosher.

My fiancee and I came into the city for a date day and came here for lunch. The food was super fresh and good. The lasagna is a must have and so is the mushroom pizza. The arrancini was also really good but I'm not a fan of saffron though. Our waiter was not personable whatsoever but people have off days. We got the watermelon sangria which was good but definitely very sweet. Perfect lunch spot!

More of a 4.5/5 star place! Really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was delicious! Every bite was better than the next. Highly recommend the lasagna, and pizza! Yes this place is kosher but the food is up there with some of the better Italian I've had recently. The restaurant is very small though, the tight space made it a bit uncomfortable at times and there was nowhere to wait for your table to be ready. Our only other complaint was the service was a bit weird, they kept trying to clear our plates while we still had food on them and were still working. At times it felt like they were hovering over us. A very nice touch was when one of the servers noticed I got sauce on my shirt and brought me over a shout wipe! Overall I would recommend this place!

We ordered from Abaita because we had Kosher guests. Wood fired pizzas, salad, lasagna. The pizza was a huge surprise - fabulous! Really great bubbly outer crust, thinnest possible bottom and fresh high quality sauce and cheese. I couldn't stop eating it, kept coming back for more. Salad was a bit pricy but endive, radicchio and tardivo were very fresh and the honey vinaigrette was welcome. No question I'd order that pizza as often as possible. Lasagna not what I'd expect, sort of flat, but good taste and other diners loved it and I thought the pasta tasted homemade. Service was quick, pizza was still warm. I'd love to dine in person as the photos of the restaurant look like a welcoming ambiance. Will let you know...

I was there with family, a party of 7 people in June. Some don't speak English very well and didn't understand the menu. Our waitress Eva was amazing and soooo patient. Kosher food can often be disappointing, not at this restaurant! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. I had the beet salad and the Salmon, Literally cleaned my plate. We all shared appetizers and their bread with labne and another spread was fantastic. Comes right out of the oven. This place is small and bustling, I highly recommend making a reservation. A fantastic restaurant in general and especially if you are kosher observant. I highly recommend.

Casual California minimalist inspired interior, a perfect spot to grab lunch with a friend, which is what I came by for. I got the salmon, which was wonderfully tender and buttery. The menu is a bit on the pricier side.

I got the mushroom pita and the whole roasted baby cauliflower, and both were insane. Mushroom Pita: Fresh, fluffy pita bread, with roasted mushrooms in an umami-rich tahini sauce. This was mouthwateringly good, and the mushrooms also had a great, fresh texture. Baby Cauliflower: It sounds so simple but the magic is in the execution. The cauliflower is both soft and firm at the same time; it almost melts in your mouth. There's a reason that two times we went to Miznon, they had already run out. Friendly service, and a chill ambiance. They have fresh tomatoes and long green peppers as a living decor, and they will give you a cooked pepper if you like. Take them up on their offer - the pepper is delicious (and spicy if you eat the seeds).

They say it's "Kosher Nikkei Cuisine." Nikkei, right? It's Japanese and Peruvian I think. Just the thought makes you feel like you've got a window open, looking out upon two different countries, one on each side, it's that different. The whole thing is fusion, but it's not phony. Not at all. You should have seen the edamame, perfectly salted and green, not all soggy and gray like they make them in most places. The chawanmushi they served was crazy. Smooth as anything. It was in this cute little glass jar, which is kind of a childish thing to do, but it was actually pretty special. It had some kind of crazy salmon roe, ikura, floating on top, and those salty little orange balls just pop in your mouth and taste like the actual ocean. I swear. It really did. Then they bring out some steak. It looked just plain, you know? But it was actually A5 Wagyu. If you know anything about beef, that's as high as it gets. And the sauce? The menu said Huuancaína. That's Peruvian. So it's this crazy fancy Japanese steak dipped in this spicy, cheesy Peruvian sauce. It makes me want to scream, it's so unexpected, but it works. It really does. It was the least phony steak I've ever had. The Sen Sakana Omakase was something else, though. The chef, this Japanese guy who looked about as old as my grandfather, which made you know he was serious brings out twelve pieces of nigiri and this huge spicy tuna handroll. The fish was so cold and fresh and clean. The octopus, that's some crazy tentacle stuff, was chewy but not too chewy. The whole time, I was just eating this fish and watching all the phonies walk by outside on 44th Street. It almost makes you want to cry. It was about as close to real as anything I've ever experienced. You should have seen the place. The lights were sort of dim and yellow, and the wood was all clean and sleek, not all cluttered and phony. It felt almost like you were outside. If you have to eat at a special place, you should eat at Sen Sakana. The food is good, it's not phony, and you can just watch all the morons outside and not have to talk to them. It almost makes you happy.

The quality and taste of the soy sauce was better than average. The salmon and tuna tacos were made exceptionally well, with super fresh raw salmon and raw tuna, and extra crispy taco shells. The nikkei acevichado sauce blends beautifully with the avocado, lime, pickled radish, and cilantro. This entire combination complemented the raw fish, and brought it to the next level. I had a glass of the drappier carte d'or from the sparkling wine list and it paired perfectly. The drink was light, very sparkly, and refreshing. It balanced the rich avocado and the fatty fish very well. The restaurant has a bar area and a main dining area. It has the ambiance of a standard upscale Midtown restaurant.

It lacked the bold Parmesan and peppercorn flavor that usually defines it. The fries stood out in a good way. They had great crunch and texture and were easily the most consistent item on the table. The ribeye was decent but not at the level you expect for a $90 cut. The temperature came out at a proper medium and there was a noticeable char, which added some flavor. However, it tasted like it had been reheated rather than cooked fresh. The bone was not hot and the fat was not fully rendered or caramelized, which took away from the overall experience. It was not bad, but it missed the mark for the price point. Service was good, which helped the experience. But, with so many solid steakhouse options in NYC, this is not a place I would go out of my way to return to.

The three dessert options were apple streudel, affogato "al caffe", and key lime pie. I ordered brussel sprouts, duck, and key lime pie, and Eric R. got lamb riblets, ora king salmon, and apple streudel. I think he regretted offering me a lamb riblet because it was ridiculously tender and melted in my mouth. What is truly amazing is this is a meat restaurant, so the ice cream, risotto, gnocchi, and other dishes that we think of as dairy-based were non-dairy, and still completely amazing! It was definitely the fanciest kosher restaurant I have even been to in my life. The restaurant was so packed that we could not hear most of the speeches, which were given into a microphone attached to a small speaker near the bride's and groom's family's table. I do not fault the restaurant for its popularity though! The menu is really fun so I think it would be cool to return here for a special occasion.
