I found that I had to teach the math over again when she got home from school because she did not understand the various concepts (thank goodness for youtube math vids!) My husband and I spoke with several Learning Centers and finally chose to enroll her in Kumon- Mukilteo. I am so thankful that we did. She attends Kumon every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5pm. Initially, I was hesitant about committing to taking her to a specific time every week. But the Program Managers, Ivan and Gwen are very flexible. You simply fill out a form for vacations or requests for changing your schedule times. Kumon offers Math and Reading. They recommend enrolling children in both. However, at the time, our 8 year old daughter was reading at a 6th grade level and we did not find it necessary to enroll her in anything but Math. Everyday, my daughter has about 10 minutes of Kumon homework. Regardless of how old you are, you need to start off with the basics. The older kids often get frustrated with this because they think the work is "too easy." But Kumon wants to ensure that you have the BASICS down before they add more difficult work. Kumon believes that if you have the fundamentals down, the rest of math will be learned much easier. This year, my daughter is kicking butt in school. The Kumon work is putting her well in advance to her 4th grade work. At school, she is currently learning how to multiply in multiple digits. Our daughter has already learned this at Kumon and is currently working on long division. Recently, Kumon Manager, Gwen has informed us that our daughter has a chance for making Kumon's 2018 Honor Roll! Yay! Thank you, Kumon!

After months of frustration, one of my kids announced to my husband and I that he just didn't want to learn math from us anymore..... he had gone from really enjoying math, to being really bummed out about it and we just couldn't get out of the downward spiral. We decided a hard-reset was needed and found Mathnasium. Ira and her staff really connected with my child right away. They are so kind, gentle, and encouraging. They have restored his confidence and he is focused/on task while he is at the center. All the kids work at their own pace through an individualized learning plan. They spend 1 hour, 2-3 times per week in the center. It is very structured time with one-to-one instructors. I highly recommend this program at this location for any family looking for math support.

We don't have much family here, so it's nice to have our little village. Reading a couple reviews on here truly shocked me because that's definitely not the school feel here. The principal and the former principal are both fabulous, and the teachers genuinely care about their students. My son would need an IEP in public school, but he has so much support and a smaller class size. When he was having a rough week, his teacher even sent me updates throughout each day to reassure me. She also gave him alternative activities when he was struggling to sit still. I love that he can have his kick band and fidget toys if he needs them, and he gets plenty of recess, which is so important. I should add that I am a teacher and am picky when it comes to curriculum. I'm thrilled with my childrens' progress here. Both of my kids have been attending since the Beginner Preschool class, and my son is about to go into 1st grade, while my daughter is heading to Pre-K. My son is definitely ahead with certain areas of academics, and when he needs more of a challenge or extra support, he can go to the Learning Success Center. Last but not least, although the accommodations and academics are great, I have seen my kids grow so much in their faith. They come home singing worship songs, reciting Scripture, and growing in their knowledge and love for the Lord. This is so important to my husband and me. Hopefully this helped. Due to a couple negative reviews, I should add that our principal changed last year, and although the former principal is fabulous, Mr. Saunders is doing an awesome job. God clearly wanted him in the principal role.

Montessori School of Snohomish County Review (MSCC). After the Fall of 2022, it has been more like…read morea hostile takeover in comparison to the well-run Montessori School that we had been enrolled in for almost three years prior.   These are just a few documented situations I have seen in the past 18 months that have made me un-enroll and leave these reviews and reports to various groups.   1 Teacher turnover. There has been a concerning amount of teacher turnover, teachers who have been teaching for multiple years, had continued education and training in the Montessori world. They valued the education and structure they were giving and teaching to children. They left for lack of organization, and violations of children's safety (medicine mix-ups, observations of students being grabbed, put in restraint time outs, children being cut down for what they wore or were given to eat from home. False situations are being documented targeting children they don't want to work with anymore). They left because of not being paid correctly, not having the correct ratios or ages in the classroom, not being given adequate breaks, and being threatened by office employees that listen to conversations from the cameras throughout the buildings. These teachers are now being replaced with "walk-in applications" teachers with no experience. There has been no confirmation that background checks are even being done.   2 Communication on school closings, and fees. One minute they are a school and go according to the Everett Public School calendar for days off/snow days. One minute they are a care facility and want to do days off for conferences for two- and three-year-olds. They seem to change the way they run things based on what is convenient for them. There is no rhyme or reason. As a parent, you are just at the mercy of the poorly communicated, and illy timed messages from the app.   3 You will NEVER get a callback; three observed concerns were so concerning that the owner was called directly. All three times she answered her phone, she declared that the situation was concerning and did try to communicate her dedication to safety but yet... she continued to allow her office employees to make some major mistakes without real repercussions on them. She may be dedicated to safety by handing out money for new locks on a few doors but that is about all that is seen. There is never a call back on a true solution.   4 Not Montessori anymore. They may have 1-2 teachers that have previous Montessori backgrounds, or a little continuing education. But generally, outside of the materials and the "rug play" there are no Montessori foundations or accreditations. Just the Montessori payment monthly.   Care is hard to find but keep searching.

We came to Sylvan with a very specific request to assess skill gaps in Math that we had observed at…read morehome. My son's school only does grade-level adaptive assessments that cover a broad set of skills and so we wanted to get an outside assessment that could be more targeted to the problems we had observed. Sylvan's diagnostic was a little expensive - about $150 - but that's OK to get what we are looking for. They did not complete the assessment as we'd asked. They performed a similar style of adaptive assessment as the school district does, so we got no value from that. I already have access to nearly identical diagnostics from the School district. They also did an English language skills assessment which we had no interest in. We only came here for math. Performing this test did not add value, it just wasted our time. Finally, the process took a week. By comparison, Mathnasium turned it around same day at no cost, and did an excellent job of listening to our needs and targeting the testing to what we were looking for. Overall I feel like I've spent a lot of money for something I didn't ask for, that adds no value to me as a customer. I would have far preferred if Sylvan had let me know up front that they don't offer the services I was looking for. They seem like a wonderful resource for general improvements across the board - but that's not what I asked for.

I freaked out and called aroudn to search for tutor help but not able to find any that I feel firs our needs. Then my coworker told us about Sylvan that her son has been attending. I quickly got connected with Pat who was super sweet and explained to me about Sylvan. The comprehensive test showed that my dtr need helps for reading and writting which also reflected in her school rpt. And my dtr has been attending since July 2022 and her scored has been improve tremendously. She is getting mostly A in her classes. We are very happy with the guidances ans supports that we have been getting from Sylvan esp the progress meeting every 3 months we get is really helpful. We love Creative Coding. Our son attended Summer Coding Camps for 4 years. These classes gave him…read morethe confidence, perspective, and skills to be comfortable with computer technology and the magic of creating his own content and applications. Now he does his own video editing, creates custom designed athletic shoes, and various social media applications. He still codes. Creative Coding provides a fun, safe, and inspiring environment for kids to learn. Far from being another boring technical class, this program encourages kids to be creative, innovative, and work together to create what inspires them. They don't even notice that they are working in a structured environment, based on the best science, using industry standard software logic and programming principles. Our experience is that kids really love Creative Coding programs, they learn tons of valuable skills and have fun doing it, and leave with confidence in their ability to take on new and challenging projects, work well with others, and adapt to changing conditions while they work. The staff have always been inspiring, supportive, adaptable enough to work with different learning styles, and technically competent. The CEO, Eric, sets the tone for a fun and challenging environment. He seems like a big kid (though a talented adult) who can't wait to see his students faces light up as they learn and succeed. He is a dedicated family man of the highest character, with a wise business mind and a passion for doing what is right; helping kids and families learn and grow in a positive environment. I'd recommend Creative Coding to any family looking for not only computer training, but even just a positive place to spend down time; a great alternative to other after school care or summer/weekend camps.

We love Creative Coding 4 Kids. My daughters go to Bryant and Eckstein. Neither one would say they…read moreenjoy math. Science is interesting to them, but not at the top of their list. They loved Creative Coding 4 Kids. I've watched as different instructors at CC4K engage and interact with the girls, learn their interests, and adapt the lessons and materials to their needs. My daughter is now enrolled in the after school program. Creative Coding for kids understands the need for individual attention in the education environment. Too many activities are diluted by high student to instructor ratios. Learning to code, especially for student who are just starting to build an interest in STEM subjects, requires individual attention. Creative Coding 4 Kids has a successful model worth supporting.
