Our oldest daughter started at 2 years old, and is now in kindergarten here, our youngest started in 2s as well, and is now in 3s. Everyday they LOVE to go, and it makes me feel comfortable leaving them in a place they genuinely love, with people that LOVE them too. It is a smaller school, and therefore you really get to know other parents and teachers. They communicate well, and use an app to send pictures throughout the day! They also offer aftercare program in case you have to work later (my kids don't want to leave aftercare). They have so much fun with learning, and spend ample time outside in the beautiful playground and covered, turfed area, oh, and a wonderful garden! I cannot say enough about the teachers and the staff, they are just true angels in earth, and we are so blessed and thankful for them. It has been a beautiful thing that they have gotten to teach two of our children, and we have made some lifelong friendships here.

In our current culture, where educational systems are pressured to meet the ridiculous and non age appropriate academic standards, it was non negotiable that our child was able to be a child. He has plenty of time to be pressured. The Montessori Work provides the true school readiness at my child's pace. Increasing his focus, self regulation, intentionality, task completion, and an understanding of the world around him. Not the rote memorization of letters and numbers that are as meaningless as us memorizing Mandarin characters when done inappropriately. There is definitely the introduction of these objectives, but they aren't pushed on the students who aren't socially ready to absorb the content. The teachers follow the student lead and support their academic readiness when students show the signs that they are ready. Kindly and appropriately challenging students by meeting them where they are at. I could write a novel about how this school has supported my child's social/emotional and academic well being. I will leave it with the fact that I have been in early education and public K-12 education for nearly 20 years. We need more schools like Young Minds who truly tend to student social, emotional, and academic readiness to inspire the foundation of life long love of learning.

I have worked professionally in daycares and I was skeptical at first, but the front desk is top tier quality, they remembered who I was the second time I visited. Each of her teachers that worked with her seemed personable, and even at 2.5 she would come home babbling about her teachers and nice things they had done. However her latest teacher really went above and beyond. We received varied photos with detailed updates with what learning objectives they had done, showing how clearly they took their jobs seriously. The classrooms are equipped with clean and well organized developmentally appropriate toys. The children are overall always happy at pickup time and seem to be engaged in different things. The teachers do a great job of being flexible while helping set structures and the foundations for routines. This was a school I feel she was truly lucky to attend.

Within a week, she was looking forward to seeing her teacher and new-found friends each day. Our daughter progressed through several class promotions as her intellectual and social skills flourished under the amazing teachers at the Goddard School. We couldn't be more pleased with the level of education and socialization that she has received. We also appreciate that her teachers were always watching her progression and recommending her advancement. Getting the pictures and updates during each day really helps our peace of mind each day when we could see that she was having a good time and participating in activities that would have been impossible for our Nanny. After several years with the Goddard School, our daughter is now moving on to public school. It was a painful goodbye but my wife and I were completely surprised and brought to tears when we were presented with a notebook from Goddard that cataloged each class, teacher, and milestones that she achieved through the years. It just reminded us of how our daughter's life was shaped during those formidable years by such a wonderful group of teachers and staff. I can't say enough good things about the Goddard School in Cedar Park! They are, and always will be, an extension of our family and they will be greatly missed by my wife and I, but mostly by our daughter.

I tried to overlook several red flags early on, but ultimately could not continue due to how my child was treated. The first concern arose within the first two weeks. When I simply asked how my son's day went and whether she needed help with his transition, Ms. Celeste responded rudely and said she didn't have time to answer questions because she needed to return to class--despite it being after 3 p.m. when the class was already transitioning to after-school care and the children were playing independently. As a parent trying to support both my child and the teacher, this interaction was surprising and discouraging. The second major issue was deeply concerning. During a class birthday celebration, my son was not allowed to have a cupcake because he did not eat his lunch. Ms. Celeste was fully aware that my son is in occupational therapy for an eating disorder. Denying food as a consequence is not a teacher's place, and it was damaging to his progress and self-esteem. We even had a parent-teacher conference where I paid for his occupational therapist to attend specifically to help Ms. Celeste understand his needs and how to better support him. The third issue was constant discipline for minor, age-appropriate behavior. My son is five years old, energetic, and developmentally typical. Ms. Celeste is extremely strict, shows clear favoritism, and seems to lack patience for children who are not "perfect." If your child doesn't fit her narrow expectations, they are repeatedly punished for small things rather than guided or supported. The final and most upsetting issue was when my son told me he was being made to sit alone throughout the day, including at lunch. I emailed the school explaining that isolating a child--especially one in food therapy--is inappropriate and should never be used as punishment. While the director assured me they would monitor the situation, nothing improved. A few days later, Ms. Celeste confronted me aggressively in front of my son and other students. She accused me of blaming her for being a bad teacher and labeled my child as having a "behavioral problem" in front of him and the class. This was completely unacceptable and unprofessional. She attempted to twist my words and escalated the situation instead of addressing concerns appropriately. The next day was my son's last day. While Ms. Celeste may be effective at teaching academic kindergarten material, that does not excuse her attitude, lack of compassion, or inappropriate handling of children she deems "problematic." Young children are not robots. They deserve patience, understanding, and emotional safety. For context: my son has never been labeled a behavioral problem by any other teacher or school. He is loved by educators, and his previous school welcomed him back immediately with open arms and excitement. If you are considering Goddard's private kindergarten--specifically with Ms. Celeste--be cautious. If your child is not perfectly compliant at all times, this may not be the right environment. There are far better schools that will prepare your child for kindergarten without sacrificing kindness and respect.

Everyone at Goddard, from the owners, to directors, to the teachers are very personable. We always walk in to a "hello" in the morning and a "bye bye" to our daughter in the afternoons. Furthermore, I love that I can see my daughter learning. They have a wonderful curriculum and fun events - even in the infant classroom! But we weren't going to move her unless we could get her into a new place. I received a phone call to come in and to tour the school and was informed they are waitlisted and won't have space. On that call, I mentioned that maybe it's best I just skip since we're only trying to move if we can get in her somewhere, not just to waitlist. They said no please come in and tour, it's very likely we can get her in after I mentioned I wasn't going to tour then. I toured the school. It appeared nice; kids looked happy. After speaking with the owner for a bit she kept mentioning there's people on her waitlist that have been ghosting her multiple attempts to enroll and it's very likely she will get in. "just give her a few days". We regretfully signed up my daughter on the waitlist and signed up my son for after school care that wouldn't start until the fall school year begin. Well days became weeks and still nothing. I attempted to contact the school to try to get some information on what was happening. The first day I the phones weren't working. I was later able to contact the Assistant Director who was unable to provide me any information or help me whatsoever. Not sure how an Assistant Director can't provide any information on what is going on with the status of my daughter if you're the Assistant Director. I explained other schools have openings and I need to know what is going on with my daughter being the fact it was basically 'duped' to us that she would get it. They would not provide me any information. We ended up having to enroll in another school because I can't take the risk of not getting in when they have space because another school is unable to provide me information. Eventually they reached out the following week and was like yeah, you're SOL and this is good feedback for the future that we should provide communication. LOL what? We said forget it and disenrolled our son for after care well over a month before anything was supposed to start. In the end my family and I are out $900 and my kids never even seen the place. I honestly don't even think they situation we were told about was true and they just lied/duped us to make it seem like she would get in and took our money. I understand paying a deposit. Everyone does it. Although Goddard is certainly the highest, I've ever seen. It's nearly double the Preps and Primrose. What is terrible is the about half of the $900 is for other 'fees, future enrollment, supplies" etc. whatever they want to call it. Besides the deposit, the rest of that money should be returned to us. My kids never even went to the school and disenrolled week above months' notice. I hope they enjoyed our $900 and making us feel duped to think we'd even get it in. If you tour the school, do not sign up unless you have a spot.

Ours is a one star or negative one star review at this point. Here's why. The review that I made 11 months ago when we unenrolled I just noticed a response and it said that we had never enrolled or been part of that school. I then started to look and noticed that several of the reviews that were one star had a similar comment about not being legitimate. I'm here to say that that is 1000% false. Please see our enrollment and disenrollment information Make your own decision by reading reviews, but just also know that the one star reviews are more than likely accurate especially with the level of specificity that was provided. This is a bold face lie saying that negative reviewed. People are not part of the Childrens Lighthouse records.
