This restaurant truly elevates the dining experience. For cocktail lovers like me, Aba has something special. I tried their "Aloe, It's Me," a cocktail with two different mezcals, aloe, green juice, jalapeño, and pineapple juice. It was refreshing, smoky, and packed with flavor, and at $19, it was a steal. The hummus, especially the one served with short ribs, is a festival of taste--its warmth and richness come from the short ribs' juices, making it the second best hummus I've had after Byblos in South Beach. The house pita bread is the perfect accompaniment. The ahi tuna carpaccio was to die for, bursting with fresh mint, kiwi's sweetness and tartness, and a spicy kick from jalapeño. The braised short ribs with sweet potato mash delivered juicy, tender meat perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the mash, while the lamb and beef kefta kabobs were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I've been wanting to come to Aba for a while and was really excited to finally try it with friends during Miami Spice. To start, the restaurant is so beautiful! It's a great restaurant for date night or even a special event. We ordered from the Miami Spice menu which was $60/pp. We tried the sweet corn hummus, the crispy short rib hummus, and the Muhammad's which were all so delicious. From the cold and hot mezzes we ordered the chilled cucumbers and the Greek village salad and for the entrees we had the grilled chicken kebab and the bone-in short rib and lastly for dessert I had the sticky date cake, it was so good! I stopped by Aba this past Monday for a dinner club / networking event and have to say it was a mixed bag. I believe it will be one for my "Placeholder" list. Our group was seated outside on the upper (2nd floor) event terrace with a lovely view of Bal Harbour, and from my seat I could even get a slight peek into the bay. The terrace has a retractable ceiling, but with the cold breeze that we were having Monday night the one over our table kept rolling back & making an annoying clatter. Speaking of cold, we're Miamians. Anything under 70 is freezing and the table I was wasn't one of the fortunate ones to get a heat lamp. At least they did provide some throws for a couple of the ladies. Service between courses, and even for extras, was a little on the slow side. One of my fellow diners had to go to the kitchen / bar area himself after waiting what he said was 20 minutes for a coffee. As far as food, the Greek salad and the dessert were the highlights. My salad was generously portioned with a yummy feta, a few varieties of tomatoes, and peppers. I loved it! With the subtle hints of black pepper along with the orange & fennel, the chocolate dessert was another of my favorites. Pleasantly surprising was the fact that the dessert portion seemed a little bigger than the mains, even for a family-style service. I passed on the beef & lamb kabobs, and instead chose the chicken ones. Although nicely seasoned & accompanied with veggies and rice, the chicken could have been a little juicier or with some sauce. I called my friend today and she said she too got violently ill Did I call the restaurant? No. I don't think it would help because it was last night and I waited till I was strong enough to write this I want to add that unfortunately they have lost my business as well as my friend's. I have been to Aba four times now, and I love this place with all my heart, from the food to the service. Aba's dips are what keep me coming back. It's great food for groups of people, so you can share and try everything. My favorites are butternut squash hummus (I'm obsessed with this sweet autumn spiced goodness), whipped feta, and spicy lamb ragu hummus. And they bring amazing warm, seasoned pita bread for all mezzes. I also recommend coming here for brunch to try an incredible short rib Shakshuka (quite spicy and has a lot of meat) and the khachapuri full of cheese. The Bougatsa is now one of my favorite desserts ever! It's just magical! You can't tell by the picture, but it is MASSIVE, enough for four people at least. The presentation with the show is impressive. It has lots and lots of the most delicious velvety vanilla cream, thin, delicate phyllo pastry, fresh orange slices, and the crunchiest chunks of cinnamon streusel that explode with the flavor in your mouth, all topped with a drizzle of orange blossom syrup. This combination is forever in my heart. The service here is always top-notch. One time the waiter overheard us and brought a dish we didn't order. Not only did he apologize, but he left us a dish with no charge. They brought a complimentary cake with a candle for me because my boyfriend mentioned in the reservation that it was my birthday. Also, all the staff were saying happy birthday to me. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. What I love is that this place is so cozy and simple. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing! We did the Miami spice brunch and got the peach biscuits (super yummy and not too sweet), it was crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. I can write a whole novel about this place. If you want service and food at its finest come here. I am veryyy picky with both, and this place nails it on the head every time. This is my second time coming here and each time was special and perfect. The hummus is a MUST my fiancée and I always get the classic one but I am certain that any one of the hummuses are amazing. The first time we came here the waiter heard how much we loved the pita so he surprised us at the end with a free loaf to take home!!!!! Now tonight, I had the salmon kebab for dinner and it was PERFECT, my partner had the valentines special: baked lobster orzo and WOW it was divine. The portion was small for your average man but it was deeelicious. Then our waitress, Amaya surprised us with dessert on the house because her and I know each other from a past job. She 100% took care of us and made us feel special the desserts were frozen Greek yogurt and date cake with cream 10/10. Everything was 10/10 even the cocktails are great! Still using my birthday as an excuse to try as many Miami Spice menus as possible! This one is @abarestaurant in @balharbourshops ! We did the $60 4-course Miami Spice meal which consisted of a hummus/spread, cold/hot mezze, a main, and a dessert. Let me tell you they did not skimp on the portions I believe these were full size items (which we are seeing a lot more this year in miami spice making the value ++ but also filling you up fast ). They also had a miami spice drink menu and bottles on special (for $60) so we did a few of those! Since we were a larger table we got to try a lot of different things. My fave items include the whipped feta, short rib hummus, bone-in short rib, Shawarma prime skirt steak frits and honestly all the desserts were - If you've seen the trending frozen Greek yogurt with olive oil and sea salt you can get that here ( I loved it but there were mixed emotions around the table) Our server Reid was amazing and brought out some special desserts and sparklers for my birthday. First off the restaurant was stunning. It transports you out of miami. The sitting was cozy and lighting made for an intimate setting. Great for a date :). We came in through the mall entrance so it wasnt clear where the hosts were but once we walked towards the other side I was able to find them. We were approached by on the supervisors or managers to get our water before our server made his way over. That did take a bit longer than I would like but his attentiveness the rest of the time was great. The food came out quickly and was so outstanding. I loved the eggplant hummus and had to fight to eat it all before the entree. The salads are so simply but so fresh you smell the Olive oil and fresh basil. The Salmon was the best I'd ever had. The stracciatella was so delightful with the lemon zest on top. It made for a very refreshing salad. And the desserts we barley had room for was a perfect way to end the meal. I have to subtract a few stars after my most recent experience here. I was here for a group dinner and we were seated on the second floor outdoor section. It was terribly windy and cold and the restaurant did not have any real awnings or partitions to keep the cold and wind out. Made it an extremely miserable experience. To add more misery, the wait staff dragged the three course meal out over three hours. Everyone was starving waiting for the main entrees, which was barely enough food for everyone. The chicken skewers didn't even look cooked so I didn't dare eat them. I ate two tiny pieces of kebab and few spoons of rice. Appetizer was just hummus. The food was totally not worth the amount of money we had paid. Wine was cheap wine. Almost everyone got up and left before they even served dessert. All were great - the eggplant spread was the best and we probably wouldn't get the lamb hummus again. The feta cheese ok the salad was super fresh! The eggplant spread was literally addictive! They also made the lamb chops perfectly to our liking or medium well. The dessert menu was quite slim with only 3-4 options. We had the sticky cake and it was VERY sticky! Best meal I had in Miami! And we had a lot of the fancier/hype places in Miami Beach. I stumbled upon this place during lunch while shopping. The ambiance during the afternoon was great, and I can imagine that it would be even prettier during nighttime. Highly recommend the kale Caesar salad. I got it with chicken, which was perfectly cooked (flavorful and not dry). Stars of the show were the warm pita bread and divine frozen Greek yogurt. Absolutely delicious. Service was also 10/10. Small portions, everything lacked flavor. The good: the pan seared halibut was just ok, send fresh but lacked flavor of any kind. The bad: the crispy potatoes are not crispy at all, some were slightly crispy but most m weren't, they sauce that comes with the potatoes tasted like rotten milk and they put what assisted to be flour all over the potatoes which was weird. The pan seared halibut lacked on flavor and it was a very small piece of halibut, the bread was much larger than the fish, small portion of fries too. Easily feeds 4-5 persons so this is a perfect group dessert :). Paid $48 for two glasses of Tyler Chardonnay 2021. Charging this for a ~$30 bottle of wine feels like a stretch. The bar is gorgeous, and really cool to sit down and observe all the varieties of alcohol they have. Parking and generally maneuvering around Bal Harbor is a bit tedious. During the week it's ok but anytime there is a holiday or weekend, try to go through valet if possible. ($15 for up to 5 hours) TL;DR: I'd come back again, but was not blown away by the food. We went for an early Valentines dinner here. I want to make a disclaimer that if yelp allowed this, I would give this restaurant 4.5 stars and not just 4. This is one of three locations, the other two are found in Chicago and Austin. The restaurant itself was quite big with rustic chandeliers and plenty nature decor. They had great music in the background and a very decent bar. The service was phenomenal. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and polite. We ordered a bottle of wine and he would make sure our glasses were never empty. Now for the food. The plates are meant for sharing. We got the short rib hummus with fresh pita. The pita came warm and perfectly seasoned. The highlight of the evening was definitely the green falafel. I would highly recommend ordering this dish and I will make sure to reorder it in the future! The lamb and beef kefta were also good and the salad accompaniment was light and fresh. I was really excited to try the truffle orzo and while good, I wished there were more truffle taste and a bit of sauce since the breading was too thick for our liking. We ended the evening with the bougatsa. It is a MASSIVE dessert brought by a server and broken down by them and it is drizzled with saffron glaze. The filing had hints of orange. I hate to write a review like this because I had such high hopes. But the food was not great. The charred eggplant hummus was flavorless, no charred or Smokey flavor. The lobster avocado hummus was the best part of our meal. Chunky pieces of lobster. The lamb chops barely had any flavor. Only 3 pieces and ours had so much fat on it. The ribeye felt like it was microwaved. I felt like I could have made this better at home. The risotto truffle was mushy and not a lot of flavor. Lastly, the drink I ordered "comment section" felt like puréed juice. Not one flavor of alcohol and I don't regularly drink so I would Taste it. The ambience was OK. But overall, I think that for the price you pay, the food is not worth it. That was another thing, the food was so expensive. I don't mind paying a lot of money for food when it's good and I enjoy it, but this felt like a waste of money we ended up paying almost $300 and not enjoying the food. The outdoor seating was just as stunning as well. Food: 4/5 I had read great reviews on Yelp for the whipped feta. I was disappointed at how salty this dish was.. I felt I could barely use any of the dip because it was too salty. I also tried the spicy garlic hummus and Brussels sprouts. There was not anything spectacular about them. The first basket of pita bread that came out was not warm and the edges were rock hard. The second basket was much better. Where I thought the food shined was the Lamb and Beef Kefta. Came in here on the 23rd after an entire day of xmas shopping at Aventura and a bit more for myself at Bal Harbour. Wanted to do Hillstone since it had been a while but the bar was full (as usual) and it was late, so I went downstairs and gave this a shot. Aba took over Makoto's old space and gave it a face lift (LOL), which I'd say was a successful surgery overall. Very cool/modern/hip feel to the place and def adds to the experience, kudos for that. Bar staff was very nice, including Gabriel who was the person taking care of me. I ordered the Charred Eggplant and the Tamarind-braised Short Rib. The charred eggplant should definitely be shared and should come with at least 10 of the pitas for the serving (and the price). The Short Rib was good but could do with less of the puree and greens and more of the rib, in my opinion. I opted against getting a second drink (which is rare for me) cuz it was a little pricey, though I can't say I'm too surprised because of the location. There is a fair amount of indoor seating. I only noticed a small-ish outdoor seating area. I don't recall what flavors were in the biscuits but they were good. I love roasted brussel sprouts and chicken kabobs and this did not disappoint. The only reason this place doesn't get five stars is because my friend wasn't blown away by the short rib shakshuka. Everything I had hit the spot. I've been recommending this place to others. If you're in the area or feel open to taking a drive for some good food, this place won't disappoint. read more

I tried this restaurant due to their amazing Miami Spice menu and wow it did not disappoint. Their ambiance is beautiful and elegant. When you walk in, you feel like you're transported out of Miami into this exotic little Mediterranean city. The trees, the lights, etc. All so perfect. I got the drink, "The Girl on Fire" and my boyfriend ordered the "Aloe? It's Me" - both were PHENOMENAL drinks. I would love to come here just for their cocktails. We ordered one spicy lamb ragu hummus, Kefta, little gem salad, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The hummus was okay, flavor wise. The Kefta and the salad were delicious and well presented and prepared. My only wish is that I had ordered the Greek yogurt dessert with the chocolate cake. I'm excited to come back and try other items on the menu. read more

Was shopping at Bal Harbour shops and came across this gem. When you enter it's like a hidden oasis that opens up. The ambiance is very chic. It's Mediterranean style restaurant with a California influence and shared family styled portions. We did Miami spice which was a great deal. It came with 4 options a spread, a cold/ hot mezze, an entree and dessert. We got the hummus spreads which were super flavorful! The smokey garlic one was my favorite. The salmon kabob was amazing and packed with flavor. It was cooked very well and had a nice crust while not being over cooked. The service was wonderful. Gabriel and Derek were very attentive, quick, and did not miss when it came to their great recommendations. Adam the manager was very caring made sure our experience was the best. Ever since hearing about the opening of Aba in the old Makoto space at Bal Harbour, I've wanted to pay it a visit. Over the weekend, I had a friend in town and suggested we go there for dinner on Sunday night. In the afternoon, I looked on Open Table and made a reservation for 6:30 PM. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:07 PM and asked to sit inside instead (the reservation was for an outside table). The host made it seem like they were fully booked and couldn't accommodate our request, but after several minutes we were seated at an inside table. The restaurant remained about half empty throughout our visit, so I guess several people must have abandoned their reservations. My friend and I ordered a bottle of chianti and several dishes to share, including: WHIPPED FETA & MARINATED OLIVES, the GREEN FALAFEL, and the LAMB & BEEF KEFTA. The falafel arrived first and was tasty, so we had a good start. Then, the whipped feta arrived. I wanted to love it. I LOVE feta, and although the feta part of the dish was good, it somehow just didn't pair well with the olives. That and the olives aren't pitted, so while you're trying to enjoy the feta and olives together, you've got to watch out for pits. It was awkward to eat, and we weren't enjoying the experience so the manager replaced the dish with hummus which was good. Our waiter had told us that the kefta dish was one of their larger offerings, but when it arrived we were surprised to see that there were only three pieces of kefta. Although the dish was tasty, I'd be afraid to see the sizes of the other dishes if the kefta is one of the larger ones. For dessert, we ordered the STICKY DATE CAKE which was awesome, and the manager sent us the FROZEN GREEK YOGURT on the house. I love frozen yogurt, so I was really looking forward to it, but when I tasted it, it wasn't sweet at all. It was actually savory, which my friend and I didn't enjoy very much. Overall, I'd say the experience was okay. The falafel, kefta and date cake were great, but the other dishes missed the mark. While the manager was helpful, some of the other staff weren't very present. For example, not one time were our wine glasses refilled for us. Although refilling for ourselves wasn't a big deal, when visiting a restaurant at this price point, I'd expect better service overall. read more
