It was going to be an expensive repair, which I had not anticipated. He made a suggestion to take all the diamonds out and scrap the rest of the necklace, which has significant gold weight, so I did just that! I picked out a diamond eternity band that I've had my eye at Argyle for about two years and with the high price of gold, I got the new ring in trade plus cash too! I went back again today, after he took out all the diamonds, and he spent nearly an hour with me to make 2 perfectly matching stacking diamond eternity bands to go on either side of the ring that I purchased the day before. And even though he has a very active business to run, we sat and chatted for several more minutes about our daughters and similar circumstances. A very pleasant experience. The great reviews lead us to Candy's on a quiet rainy afternoon. The only ones in the store he was made to feel like a king, asking all sorts of questions as kids his age do and wanting to more or less see everything. Candy was beyond patient and helpful, letting him see the pieces in the price range I'd mentioned and put them side by side so he could make his choice. In the end he picked out the necklace he like best and was thrilled that we walked out with it giftwrapped, bagged and ready to go for mommy. I have been a customer here many times and found the work average. Recently I brought Two gold…read morerings into Candys Jewelers to be sized up. I was quoted a flat fee price, the shop sized my finger for the rings, when I received them they were too big! I was informed there was an additional fee to "re size" the rings. I also sold several rings with stones in them for scrap, Candys did not pop out the stones which I later found out reputable jewelers do, nor did I get itrmized bills of jewelry I sold her. Expensive lesson learned. My message here is know your jewelry and shop around.
