Joe is the most knowledgeable, pleasant, patient and honest jeweler around! I came in yesterday to have repaired an older beloved necklace, but when he really examined it, there were several more parts that were cracked and would need rebuilding. It was going to be an expensive repair, which I had not anticipated. He made a suggestion to take all the diamonds out and scrap the rest of the necklace, which has significant gold weight, so I did just that! I picked out a diamond eternity band that I've had my eye at Argyle for about two years and with the high price of gold, I got the new ring in trade plus cash too! I went back again today, after he took out all the diamonds, and he spent nearly an hour with me to make 2 perfectly matching stacking diamond eternity bands to go on either side of the ring that I purchased the day before. And even though he has a very active business to run, we sat and chatted for several more minutes about our daughters and similar circumstances. A very pleasant experience. So my husband decided to surprise me and have my chain fixed at Argyle Jewelers in Babylon. It had been broken for about 6-7 months. It broke a few months after I purchased it due to a new puppy. He asked the jeweler to fix the clasp . They were supposed to text my husband with status updates and let him know when he would be able to pick it up. After 5 days, my husband called to find out what the status was for a simple fix and the lady responded that the chain is complete and they are now waiting for it to be polished. Once polishing was complete they would text him so he could pick it up. He received text and picked up the chain and dropped it off at my job and left. I put the necklace on and realized the chain color was not white gold anymore, it was yellow. I called both my husband and the store to let him know we have to go back to talk to someone because the rhodium was polished off the chain . Now this chain cost 16.82 to be fixed, no big deal. We go back and tell the lady "hey we called about this chain being over polished". She got the owner, and let me tell you!! I have never been spoken to by anyone the way this man spoke to us. He was the most unprofessional, disrespectful business owner I have ever encountered. I don't know if he thought he was going to intimidate me by yelling, swearing and raising his voice at me with nothing but anger I. His entire demeanor. He then proceeds to swear on his kids (as if that was going to change the fact that the chain was over polished and everything would just disappear and I would walk away), that he didn't polish the chain. He told me he only polished the tiny clasp and left the rest of the chain as is. So I asked, "do you not clean the jewelry for your customers when you give back the finished product?" This must have really infuriated him as proceeded to slam his hand on his glass counter, screaming and yelling at me (in front of customers mind you. Again, how unprofessional). This was his reaction because I asked what was polished and what wasn't . He then told me that this is normal from wear on the chain and when I pointed out that the clip is the same color as the charm, how is that possible, the wife comes over and tells me she told my husband they would be different color which is not true . She also kept saying that my chain was antique. To redip the chain is was a 65.00 at cost to the consumer (about $20 to merchant before markup). The way this man spoke to me and my husband was absolutely disgusting as if I was trying to get something from him, telling me to trust him and that he swears on his kids. I told him to trust me, why would I lie about my chain being yellow. I have no problem getting the chain redipped for the 65.00 . It's a lousy $65. I would never go to or refer anyone to deal with this business . As we were walking out, he all of a sudden had a "come to Jesus moment" and decided that he would redip the chain at no cost to us. At this point I said no thank you and we walked out. The owner told me to write customer reviews and told us put whatever we feel like on Facebook and anywhere else we want, he's been a jeweler for 35 years so it don't matter. I normally do not write reviews because I do not like to harm one's business, however, people spend a lot of money on jewelry and to be put down, talked to as if you are insignifican shows he isn't interested in local business with the community. For an$20-$25 dip (his cost), he took the route of rudeness and complete unprofessionalism. What goes around comes around!! God doesn't like ugly. All over a few lousy dollars. read more

This place is down the block from me so I figured I'd give them a try when my girlfriend's birthday came up. She is very difficult to shop for, and the salesperson Tina gave me a ton of recommendations. She explained their return policy in case my girlfriend didn't like the piece and sure enough, I had to return it. No problem, full refund, extremely friendly staff. Stopped into Argyle Jewelers after researching places with positive reviews for jewelry repair. My boyfriend recently proposed to me with his mother's sapphire and diamond ring. It needed to be resized and cleaned up a bit and after reading so many positive reviews, I thought I'd give Argyle a try. I'm so happy that I did!!!! I called ahead of time to make sure that I didn't need an appointment to for resizing. Unfortunately, due to horrible traffic, I ended up arriving 10 minutes before closing on Mother's Day weekend. They still saw me and met with me. They consulted sizing, re-plating, and were so hospitable. They didn't rush me out the door at all! My ring was done 1.5 business days later and it didn't even look like the same ring!!! I was amazed! Surprise, surprise. I am a bit of a klutz. Sometimes I fall down stairs, sometimes I step on things I shouldn't, and occasionally, my wild Italian "explaining hands" get caught in my necklaces as I speak. In fact, such a thing has happened twice in the past year. Argyle jewelers has fixed my jewelry with no funny questions asked (though I assume I would get a chuckle) and no nonsense. They're pretty speedy as well. We've also gotten watches sized and a few other small repairs done for a fair price. The store is safe, clean and the jewlery that is sold behind the counter is not over the top in looks. I stopped here on a Friday afternoon with my girlfriend because they are a local shop that sells Pandora bracelets & charms. They honor Pandora promotions too which is awesome. I bought a bracelet and charm for my sister and I bought myself an extra charm, my girlfriend gave me a little money because she got the leather bracelet that came free with the promotion. I love their pandora selection, the clerk was pretty nice, she told us the store would clean our bracelets for free if we came in (which is what most Pandora retailers do). There were a few minor dislikes even though I would come here again which is why I'm giving four stars instead of five. My first dislike was the bracelet packaging. I'm not sure if they had the Pandora pouches that the regular retailers have but they packaged my sister's bracelet in a small box. So I had to tell my sister that if she went to buy more charms to make sure she got herself a pouch. My second dislike was that even though the clerk we dealt with was pretty nice she did ask me when I was due and I'm not pregnant. I get this question a lot from many people and I'm sorry even if I was pregnant this question is unacceptable. A woman can be pregnant, just fat, have stomach issues or worse case have a tumor so asking if she's pregnant and when she's due is insensitive. I don't think the clerk we dealt with meant any harm, my girlfriend had her son with her so she probably just assumed I wasn't far behind on the pregnancy band wagon but it's just not a nice question to ask. Usually I don't go back to a business after they ask me that but I will make an exception because this jewelry store is local and I did like them for the most part. read more

I'm obsessed with them now. I first went in there in December of 2019 for a Christmas gift for my mother in law. I bought her gold earrings which she wears all the time now. I also inquired about having my engagement ring (purchased in 3/2012) fixed because it was missing a diamond. I decided to wait until after the holidays. Then my bday came around 7/5 so I decided to purchase a pair of earrings. I needed my engagement ring resized but 1) I didn't have much time to get it done, and 2) I didn't want to permanently damage the ring. Argyle Jewelers was so amazingly accommodating and knowledgable, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They ended up placing little balls on the inside of the ring instead of actually cutting out metal from the ring, and they got it done in an hour! My work schedule isn't all that flexible, and I'd never be able to drop off and pick up the ring during their normal business hours. So since they open at 10AM on Wednesdays, and I needed to leave for work by noon, they made sure to help me out! They also informed me that cutting metal out from the ring would make my ring more prone to losing diamonds from the band, so they suggested a different way to resize my ring and for that I am eternally grateful! They're a small mom-and-pop shop that's been there for 20+ years, and it seems like they've built quite a great reputation around town. Joe who I believe is the owner was extremely helpful and honest in helping me find an emerald cut. He went over what to look for and what to stay away from.
