I went to another jeweler for a second opinion and i am embarrassed to report that I had forgotten that the watch was wound by motion and since I had not worn it for years I need to simply put put it on for a while! The other issue was an overhaul that they did do on my watch $400+ and then it started eating batteries every 18 months or so. (The previous battery lasted 6 years+). When I asked them about it they said that that 18 months was normal for that watch. I took it to another watch repair place and they said it didn't appear to have been overhauled and that for $180 they would do it. I paid again and now the battery has 3 years on it no problem.

This is the only place on Long Island I trust to service my watches. They did a "resurrection…read morerepair" on a Ulysse Nardin piece that two other watch repair 'experts" told me to scrap. I have also purchased two fine timepieces here and am very pleased with the service and value received. Louis Maddaloni himself is usually on site and treats all customers with warmth and respect. It was going to be an expensive repair, which I had not anticipated. He made a suggestion to take all the diamonds out and scrap the rest of the necklace, which has significant gold weight, so I did just that! I picked out a diamond eternity band that I've had my eye at Argyle for about two years and with the high price of gold, I got the new ring in trade plus cash too! I went back again today, after he took out all the diamonds, and he spent nearly an hour with me to make 2 perfectly matching stacking diamond eternity bands to go on either side of the ring that I purchased the day before. And even though he has a very active business to run, we sat and chatted for several more minutes about our daughters and similar circumstances. A very pleasant experience.
