Their AIM program is brilliant as is there Choice program. We have experienced both and the TLC staff and their support is 100% and their attitude is 100% positive and child oriented. There are no politics at TLC. There is just a truly caring atmosphere and it is fully geared to each child. I've loved working with the staff, from Giulia at the front desk, to Ms. Katie - the Director for Scripps Ranch, to academic and behavioral staff, and of course, to our wonderful teacher, Ms. G.!!! TLC has really turned my son's education experience around and we're now on a positive, productive path.

He didn't keep his papers neatly organized, and actually got my stuff mixed in with his at one point. He did the same thing at the actual 504 meeting which was hugely disconcerting. As predicted, I had a panicked attack at the 504 meeting. I ended up leaving the room. The VP pushed just the right buttons, and he succeeded. I relied on the IEP guy to get the work he had agreed to do, done, but he didn't even manage to do that. I asked him why after the meeting, and he just replied that he was happy to refund me my money. Worst experience ever. Also, he didn't give me a receipt for my $400 check at the intake meeting. So, then, after the meeting, I asked for a receipt, and magically, he said he had a rolling deposit where I always have to have $400 available. Weirdest thing ever. I told him no way, and he replied he was sorry I could not afford him!! Find someone else!!

They teach our kids not only academics but also life skills and how to play in a very creative way which is a lot more important at a young age. They make holidays like mothers day, fathers day, Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines super special and you feel like a big family. All the teachers were good but some were extraordinary Ms. Michelle, Ms. Emily, Ms. Cristy, Ms. Dianne, Mr. Nick, Ms. Myriam, Ms. Parvin whom I call the baby whisperer are all such kind, patient, caring teachers smd caregivers. Of course even more biased because I have been on the PTA here for the last 10 years. Gotta put a plug in for the PTA....but they work hard to make sure our staff and kids get 100% support! Mr. T set high standards for this school and with our new principal Mr. Lee he has even set the bar higher. They have both done an extremely awesome job with the school. We have a lot of activities that we do for the kids from our money making Fall Festival, Spring Jog-a-thon, Family Movie Nights, Family Dance, etc. Casa Mira View across the street is a tremendous assistant financially to our school. Perfect place to live so the kids can walk right across the street. Our PTA supports an awesome art program through Art Corps. This allows the kids to learn 8 fantastic art lessons which we then present at the end of the year at our Art Show. With the support of our PE program headed by Mr. Kaneko the PE also helps fund our Swim Program. Grades 3-5 take part in a twice a week swim program for 6-8 weeks in the Spring. Our 5th graders get a one week full of fun before their promotion in June that 2 of my 3 have the pleasure of enjoying. To give context, my kiddo is 5 years old as of this date, and we have been clients of Cortica for…read moreabout 1.5 years. My kiddo started autism-related therapies (behavioral, speech, and occupational) whenhe was 2, so prior to Cortica we had a couple of years experience with other providers. From our experience, one of the biggest strengths of Cortica is that it offers a comprehensive set of services under one house - prior to Cortica, we had different providers providing different services, so there was an obvious communication gap across teams. Additionally, there were several services that we weren't doing prior to becoming clients. To expand, we currently use Cortica for the following: Family Counseling (for parents), Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Group (for kiddo), ABA Therapy, and Music Therapy. In the recent past, we were doing Neurofeedback Therapy - it did not seem to have any notable impact, so consulting with the staff, we decided to stop. We also had a meeting with Dr. Shapiro regarding TVNS and under his consult, we decided it probably wasn't necessary. We had a couple of bio-medical consults, but we haven't been successful in being consistent with supplements (this is really our fault here). In the near future, we are planning to attend the once-a-month Parent's Group at Cortica. In respect to quality of care provided, from our experience, it's been very good all around. Cortica's ABA is different from what we were used to - it's not reward based, rather it's based in the methods described in Spectacular Bond book (sorry, it's a bit hard for me to succinctly describe). In respect to speech and fine & gross motor skills, we have seen our kiddo progress at a good and steady rate - he's still got a long ways to go, but we're seeing him grow. Also, our family counselor has been great and an integral component in everything. She not only listens to personal issues, but also helps us plan and process anything related to our kiddo's development. To re-iterate, she's been integral for us. We've met with Dr. Goh a handful of times and we've always found Dr. Goh to be personable and approachable. We haven't had a need to meet with her often, since the personnel that we've worked with has been solid and helpful. We haven't really experienced a turnover staff problem like we had in the past with previous providers. For instance, we've had a couple of the same ABA therapist for our entire duration with Cortica. I would say scheduling and re-scheduling (e.g., school year, summer) is more an issue. This probably has to do with a supply and demand with resources, I would guess. Last note, I really get a good "team" sense from Cortica, that encompasses my family and Cortica. And I think that's partly due to my wife and I's level of engagement and also Cortica's philosophy on how things should run, which of course is displayed in the staff we work with.

They genuinely care about the children. The school is open for observation. They have a two way window in each room so the children don't get distracted if you go observe. Communication is efficient. Administration (Sara, Maria, Vivian, Sharon, Salina): they work as a team, they keep you informed, they know every single child, they are caring, thoughtful, just very very nice in general. This will be our 3rd year in the school and hoping for many more!
