Stearns has now refunded me the full amount I requested for the batteries, and the issue is completely resolved. I also want to recognize their service department. Once my vehicle was in their hands, they did a great job working through the issues and getting everything taken care of. My experience with Steven in Service was especially positive. He was helpful throughout the process, and based on my experience with him, if I owned a Ford, I would absolutely bring it to Steven for service. My original review below reflects the experience I had at the time and the difficulties I encountered getting the battery expense resolved. I am leaving it for context because I believe it is equally important to acknowledge when a business ultimately steps up and makes things right. I'm updating my rating to 4 stars. While the process of getting here was frustrating and required escalation, Stearns ultimately made the situation right. I appreciate the quick resolution, the full reimbursement, and especially the excellent work from Steven and the service department. I cannot discern why this dealership has so many bad reviews. I recently had to have my car…read moreserviced and as the warranty has expired, I no longer have to drive all the way to Anderson Kia in Raleigh (yea!!). I had neither the stomach or the heart to spend a fortune on another of their 'free service' deals that were supposedly included in said warranty. I decided to try out the KIA dealer in Burlington for servicing. I was able to make the appointment online. Super easy. You can choose the date & the time (as long as its available) and give a brief message as to what kind of service you wish. From inspection to something is wrong with my car, you are given the opportunity to explain why it is you need their service. Today was the given day of my appointment and I showed up at the dealership. Now, I will say that if you aren't a regular customer, finding the service area is tricky. The reason it's tricky is because you are supposed to drive up to two automatic doors that fling wide like a mall entrance. This was a treat indeed. Imagine if it were still raining? I would have no need of an umbrella because I was completely inside. I walked into the office and this is where I IMMEDIATELY knew that I would have MUCH better service here than at Anderson; There were 4 reps behind the desk, each one of them at the ready. They weren't too busy talking amongst themselves or clowning around. Nope. These were professionals at work. I get that mechanics like to keep things light but as a customer, I don't need to see the hijinks at the customer service desk. I need confidence that they know what they are doing. Jackie was all this and more. She was friendly and quite knowledgeable. I knew at once that she wouldn't just blow me off. While checking me in, she asked if I would like to wait or to have them call for a free Uber (as long as you are within 30 miles) so that I could wait at home. I almost fell over at this incredibly generous offer. I wouldn't have to risk my health waiting while they fixed my car during these trying times of Covid. This is such a wonderful service offered!! It didn't take long for them to fix my car (I watched a 90 min movie at home, comfortable) and they offered to call Uber again to pick me up. This is how all car dealers should treat their customers! We are spending a small fortune in their shop so a tiny bit of exclusive service is much appreciated. Long story short, I needed to get 2 new tires and an alignment. Much to my surprise, they also fixed a recall issue that Anderson told me that they had taken care of (but didn't). I will no longer have to drive an hour each way, sit for HOURS and be treated like a second thought interrupting the office party. No siree. I will now be a Burlington KIA customer!

I am leaving this review to document a very concerning series of events at Burlington Kia,…read moreparticularly related to safety, transparency, and accountability. For context, this dealership has been the ONLY place to service my vehicle for the past three years. No other shop has worked on my car. Here is what occurred: During a previous tire rotation performed by Burlington Kia, one of my wheel lugs was stripped. I was not informed when this damage happened. I returned for a routine oil change. Only at checkout was I told, "By the way, we weren't able to rotate your tires." That is when I first learned a lug had been stripped--damage that occurred during a prior Burlington Kia service. At that same visit, I was told my brakes were at 0%, but that nothing could be done because it was late in the afternoon and the lug would "need to be broken off." Despite knowing this, my vehicle was released to me while it was raining, and I was told to schedule a brake appointment and they would figure it out then. I returned for my scheduled brake appointment, and at that visit they were able to remove the lug without breaking it, which raised serious questions about why I had previously been told it couldn't be done. At that point, the lug nut was completely removed, and I was nearly sent home with only 4 out of 5 lugs, with staff stating the other four were "fine." I had to argue for a significant amount of time to make it clear that this was unsafe. Only after pushing back did the dealership acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. Throughout this process: * Damage caused by the dealership was not disclosed when it occurred * I was knowingly released with brakes at 0% in rainy conditions * I was nearly sent out again with a missing lug * Safety concerns were minimized instead of addressed * Accountability only came after repeated objections Compounding these concerns, after a later oil change my vehicle developed a burning smell and a check engine light, which the dealership documented as occurring after their service. The diagnostic code is P0441, a code commonly associated with components that can be disturbed during under-hood service. The most troubling part is that this dealership currently has no General Manager and no on-site Service Manager, leaving serious safety issues without proper oversight. I do want to clearly state that Service Advisor Eric Hicks has been kind, patient, and genuinely tried to help within the limits of his role. This review is not about him. It reflects a breakdown in safety procedures, disclosure, and leadership at this location. Because of these unresolved issues, I avoided driving my vehicle when possible because I did not feel safe. I strongly urge Burlington Kia ownership and Kia Corporate to review what is happening at this location. Customers should never learn about critical damage at checkout, be released in unsafe conditions, or have to argue for basic safety standards.

This service department was THE BEST BLESSING WE COULD HAVE ASKED FOR!…read more Our 5th wheel RV broke a strut while driving on the interstate. We pulled into their parking lot about 4 pm on a Thursday. Every man we met was delightful and knowledgeable, even though they they do not normally work on 5th wheels. ( they do work on other trailers). Steve was the expert trailer-backer-upper in a crowded parking lot. Smutty was our amazing mechanic who put it back together BETTER THAN IT WAS BEFORE! Ashley found the right guys tho get it done, and Brandon found the parts and even was able to find a coupon that made the price $ 200.00 less than we were originally told. We highly recommend doing business with this service department

My experience: I had a 2023 Tacoma that I was in contact with Kevin about. I called to make sure the truck was a manual . He said it was and that he personally saw it. Kevin called back and left a vmail that is was a typo and it is an automatic. I called back and he said I could leave a deposit for the truck assuming they would honor the online price (32,985). Kevin said "Yes, we have to honor our online price and advised it would be higher $34k out the door. He said he would call back for the FaceTime required before the deposit. Kevin called back and said he was sorry but his manger Tim Lang took a deposit for it already. He was not able tot give a clear answer on a few things, but would reach out if it changed and said he was sorry as he "could hear the disappointment in my voice". Later that night the listing changed to 42,990. Had my friend call the next and see if it was available. Barbra advised my friend it was available and has had no deposits on it. They even sent him a video of the truck. If the price was wrong and needed to be adjusted, I get that. However, advising a customer that you will honor a price, then having a deposit taken be the reason it falls through, and going up on the price moments later, appears to be bad faith practices. I did reach out to the sales manager, Tim and the owner, Bill but have had no response.

I was in the market to buy a new car and I like to do all of my communications via email. I reached out online and Chelsea got back to me with initial pricing. After a few emails back and forth, Kenneth (the general sales GM) and I were working towards finding a competitive OTD. They were super responsive and tried their best to help me out. In the end, Tim Holiday the GM of the dealership reached out to me with some updated pricing. His price was very competitive but unfortunately not the lowest I received so I went with another dealer instead. Everyone was very responsive the whole time and was great to work with. I hope to work with all of them again in the future when I search for another new vehicle. Thank you Modern Mazda!!!

Modern Mazda of Burlington -- Very Disappointing Experience…read more I would not recommend Modern Mazda of Burlington based on my experience trying to purchase a vehicle from them. I spent a considerable amount of time negotiating the purchase of a vehicle with the dealership. We worked through the selling price, taxes, fees, financing, and delivery. My wife and I were both going to be on the loan and title, and I was actively working with my credit union to finalize everything. There were some issues with the numbers along the way. The out-the-door price and non-tax fees changed, and I ended up contacting my local Kentucky county clerk myself to verify the correct taxes, title, registration, and lien fees. To the salesperson's credit, we eventually worked through those numbers and reached an agreement. The dealership told me there was another customer scheduled to see the vehicle at 6:00 p.m. and that they needed my deposit by 4:45 p.m. to hold the vehicle. I agreed to move forward and provided my credit card information for the deposit. At that point, I considered the deal made, subject only to inspecting the vehicle when it was delivered. I specifically asked about that condition, and the salesperson confirmed that I would not be required to sign the paperwork if the vehicle arrived and I was not satisfied with it. While we were waiting on the final paperwork, I asked for the Carfax. That is when I discovered the vehicle had an accident history that had never been disclosed to me during our negotiations. When you are preparing to spend approximately $34,000 on a vehicle, I think it is completely reasonable to take a few minutes to discuss newly discovered accident history with your spouse. Had the accident history been disclosed from the beginning, we could have considered it before spending all that time negotiating, arranging financing, providing personal information, and giving the dealership my credit card information for a deposit. This was not a situation where I walked away from the deal or stopped communicating with the dealership. My credit card information had already been provided approximately 30 minutes before the Carfax issue came up. We were actively completing the transaction. After discovering the accident history, there was only a matter of minutes involved while my wife and I discussed it and communicated with the salesperson. During that brief period, the dealership went back to the other customer. The salesperson later told me they had not charged my card because I had said the Carfax "may be an issue" and that I needed to speak with my wife. The vehicle was ultimately sold to the other customer. What bothers me most is that none of this needed to happen. If the accident history had been disclosed upfront, my wife and I could have made an informed decision before reaching the point of arranging financing and providing a credit card for the deposit. I understand that dealerships are in business to sell vehicles, and I would not expect a dealership to hold a vehicle indefinitely for someone who had not committed to buying it. That is not what happened here. I had negotiated the deal, was actively arranging the financing, provided my credit card information for the deposit, and was waiting on paperwork. I simply wanted a few minutes to discuss important information about the vehicle that I had just discovered. Based on the way this transaction was handled, I would not recommend Modern Mazda of Burlington to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle. In my opinion, customers should be given complete information about a vehicle's known history before they reach the final stages of a purchase, and once a customer has agreed to the deal and provided payment information to hold the vehicle, they should be treated accordingly. If you are considering purchasing a used vehicle from this dealership, I strongly recommend obtaining and reviewing the Carfax yourself before negotiating, arranging financing, or providing a deposit, and getting in writing exactly what is required for the dealership to consider the vehicle held for you. After this experience, I would take my business elsewhere.
