My first visit to this office on April 5 with Dr. Lee was great -- she was wonderful, and I had no complaints. During that appointment, I scheduled a follow-up for the other side of my mouth. I was told by the front desk that Dr. Lee would be out until Wednesday of this week, so I booked for today, May 17, to ensure she would be back. I arrived 10 minutes early, signed in, and waited. Twenty minutes after my appointment time, I had to go ask what was going on -- I had a babysitter and scheduled this for a reason. I was told it would just be "a few more minutes" several times, but 10:40 rolled around and I was still waiting. When I asked if I'd be seeing Dr. Lee, the receptionist told me she was on vacation -- the same person I had booked the appointment with, who assured me this date was scheduled around her return. I wasted over an hour of my time, paid for childcare, and still didn't get seen. I was given an apology, but honestly, that's not enough. I was very clear about needing to see Dr. Lee and when I was available. The lack of communication and the overbooking make it feel like appointments don't matter at all. Going to the dentist is something I do not look forward to doing. But Aava dental in Upland is the best!. They make my visits so much easier. From Tiana at the front desk, to the amazing manager. The back office staff is always so comforting and very kind, Suma, Tania, Rosie and everyone in the back. Especially Dr. Lee, she is the BEST!! She is so gentle and kind...love her! Everyone has been an absolute delight to interact with except the front desk girl named Naomi. Naomi is very rude and talks down to you like a child. She rolls her eyes at you when she ease drops on your conversation with other staff. Mostly out of Jealousy because no customer likes her. I would refer people if she was not there. I would be embarrassed if anyone i would refer would have to deal with her. She also tries to talk over you. She is rude and disrespectful and should not be in a profession that deals with customer service. Besides the hostile tension that lady gives off and I mean the tension when she is there is super thick. Staff is so much happier and the atmosphere is super delightful when she isn't there. I was so upset with the care quality and service...that I left in the middle of my cleaning. First of all, just wanted a cleaning but was told by the Manager Noelia that It was mandatory to have X-rays before all cleaning procedures(why X-rays again if they had just taken them on March 2nd,2024 just a few months ago), then the hygienist Corey was checking her I-watch while performing her cleaning duties with tools in hand above my face and actually texting back on her screen and then putting those same fingers back into my mouth.And lastly, not offering or providing me any goggles during this procedure allowing water,germs,saliva, and blood to enter my eyes and me leaving with my eyes irritated and red. So here's the deal. I was looking for a good dentist that was close by my house. So I went around talk to friends, talk to family members, and basically just sort of felt out the area. I had gone to the mailbox and picked up the mail. I sorted through all the junk mail and stumbled across one of those free Bee local coupon magazines. And lo and behold there was Aava Dental. They had a special for cleaning and x-rays for first-time patients, and to be honest, I had not been to the dentist in over 6 years. So I think I was overdue. Just to let you know, the place is located in strip mall in the far corner. And it actually took me a moment or two to find it. From the moment I walked in the door, this is one of those places where I felt like I was at home. Well, if my home had a dentist office in it. Everybody that I encountered at this place was professional, friendly, fun, and wasted no time. They had digital x-rays, good equipment and really was a very efficient place There's something ghost insurance, and honestly I can say that I have never had a more pleasant dental experience than the one I had there. I had a great experience here with Dr. Chen and his staff. The facilities were clean and all staff members wore masks. I was immediately greeted once I walked in and there was little waiting time before I was called in. Dr. Chen was also very efficient at managing his time with patients. As I had my x-rays done, he was performing extractions on another patient. Once I was escorted to the treatment area, he was ready to perform the procedures I needed. I called my Dentist office at Riverside on Saturday November 21 and they were closed. The office manager called me back and she referred me to the office in Upland. I called right away because it was an emergency, Cassandra their office manager took me in there immediately and I appreciate their great customer service with Dr Chen and all their staff are super nice, professional and welcoming. The receptionist was nice. Everything else from this visit felt extremely RUSHED! - [ ] Technician rushed through my X-rays and hit me in the chin with the machine. Then she couldn't get a shot of the back of my mouth; the dentist calls her out for it, she then looks at me and says the doctor said I need to open up more, we probably could have gotten through it the first time if she g had coached me through it a bit , I hadn't had X-rays in years ! Annoying but whatever... - [ ] Then they move to another room for x rays of my whole head, and then to a third room across the lobby, fine... no big deal - [ ] The dentist had another patient in the next room at the same time. - [ ] They said I had cavities and they could fill them same day...cool. They never told me what kind of filling they were using or which teeth they were working on, they only said two on one side and a small one on the other side. I can still feel a sharp edge one of the fillings in the backcourt of my mouth. - [ ] The dentist gave me ZERO warning he was going to give me the numbing shot in my mouth, just goes right in. I was STARTLED. - [ ] The dentist stabbed my lip with the sharp tool they use to pick at your teeth. - [ ] A different technician had the water hose thing and little suction thing and at one point I started choking on the water. - [ ] Only doing the review now because the side they did the most work on is now sensitive when I bite into certain foods and sensitive to cold food. I absolutely loved my whole time there when you walk in the ladies at the desk greet you with a smile and say hello they were helping another customer but they still had the time to look over and acknowledge myself and my son. This rating is solely on the office Manager, Noelia . I was being treated at a different dental office and left that office to come to Aava in Upland. I was in the middle of treatment when I changed offices so I had called in advance to let them know and spoke to Tiana. I explained what my situation was and asked if they can get my medical records (X-rays, treatment plan) from the previous dental office. Tiana assured she she'd take care of it. I was originally scheduled to come in on 6/30 but then I received a call that they had to move my appt to 6/29. Upon arriving, I met with Noelia. I again brought up the topic of my records from the previous office because I knew they'd want to take X-rays at this new location even though I had just taken a full set of X-rays a month prior. She told me they'd be able to look them up through my insurance. Once I got called into my room, X-ray tech notified me she was going to take X-rays. I then stated I had just gotten a full set of X-rays a month ago at a different location. She went to the front office and told Noelia, Noelia then walked in and said they had no records of my X-rays. Mind you this was a mistake on their employee Tiana as she was the one that assured she would get it taken care of when she called to reschedule my appt. I then proceeded to let Noelia know that I don't see why they would need to retake X-rays if they just needed to get requested from the previous office I was being seen at. She then rudely interrupted and said I would have to wait for her to get in touch with the office and told me she didn't know how long that would take, that normally patients have to request that from the provider. She was very passive aggressive as she spoke and as an office manager, that is not the type of service you provide to patients. side note: I've brought my kids here before and have dealt with her rudeness in the past however, it was my first time here as a patient. This (Aava) provider was referred to me by my husband's union and I feel the need to get in touch with the Union Trust to file a complaint on the type of customer service this "office manager" provides to patients. She was rude for no reason other than me refusing to take another set of X-rays. Of course, she couldn't bill my insurance for that so I apparently hit a nerve when I spoke up. I had left the previous provider because I disliked how they were handling my treatment and apparently coming here wasn't any better. I will say the rest of the staff including the Dr., were very nice and helpful. Definitely will have to reconsider my options after is encounter with their office manager. read more

It really pains me to write a bad review but I truly believe I should, at least to describe my experience. First off, I came here because it was recommended by my union, so I decided to try them out.. I regret that choice now. I went in originally because my youngest child has a hole in her tooth and so I needed to take her immediately. When we got there, I noticed how the place was empty, and all 3 times I went, I never saw anyone else. Maybe it was the time of day, but no matter what I chose, I never saw other patients. Long story short, the hygienist made my gums bleed from a deep cleaning. This woman stuck a needle right under my nose and it swelled my entire right eye and half my head. Of course I was afraid to return, but once again I went in. Before I went, I tried to cancel but the receptionist wouldn't let me, that part was really annoying to me, but once again, I went against my better judgment and return. When the hygienist worked on deep cleaning the other side, she stuck the needle in my jaw, which made my lymph nodes swell up and I couldn't swallow for hours. Both my oldest daughter has complained even week later that she is still hurting from that office. I had no dental issues until I went there and now I am currently looking for another dentist to fix what was not broken until I went here. I even spoke to a coworker who went to this location and she had the same experience where she now has dental issues. I am absolutely angry and won't return again. read more

Haven't been to the dentist in quite a while and finally decided it was about time. Found this spot which is conveniently not too far from me and pretty easy to get to. Now I've only been to like maybe two other dental offices and this one was the most welcoming for sure, especially since going to the dentist is already an intimidating thing. This is my first dentist visit in years and they made me feel right at home. From the second i walked in the receptionist had an inviting smile and a great attitude! Jessica took my x-rays and made actual conversation with me, not just a hi how are you. She asked me how my Christmas was and got to know me a little. First time coming into the office I felt extremely comfortable, the office vibe is amazing. They make sure you feel welcome and they all have genuinely happy spirits. Cassandra was so pleasant and personable even during my first appointment. Cassandra goes over all of the procedures and billings so there are no surprises. During my many appointments, Erika takes care of me. She has an amazing memory and goes over what work I am getting done for the day. She is always making sure I am ok, which helps me relax. During one of my visits Dr. Lee had a different assistant, Erika still stopped by and make sure I was ok. Dr. Lee is so gentle, she has this softness to her. She tells you what she is working on so there are no surprises. She will make sure you are relaxed and comfortable. Over the past year I have come a long way because of this office.
