I have been working on an aquatic back piece for several months with several more to go. My tattoo artist is Ross and he is beyond amazing, his talent and attention to detail is absolutely incredible. I've only been living on the island for a little over 1 1/2 years and wondered if I would find an artist, and I have to say Ross is my forever artist. His photo realism is beyond reproach as you can see from these photos. If you go to Aasylum and Ross does your tattoo you will walk out a very happy per My tattoo is finished and Ross at Aasylem Tattoo is beyond amazing. I absolutely love Aasylum I've gotten all 9 of my tattoos done here so far and I'm in love! Memo usually does mine and he uses very thin and dainty lines that looks very nice but he also can do blackout tattoos very well! Chris my other artist, he uses darker lines but always make sure it's lined up good and looks amazing! These are the only two artists I've ever seen and I wouldn't change that for anything! My bridal party (5 of us) and I walked in on Sunday night about 2 hours before close. We had called previously that day they said they do take walk ins. We walked in and could tell immediately that the female tattoo artist did not want to service us. She was rude and when we told her (2 of us) wanted a matching tattoo about an 1-2 inches long she said it wasn't possible and that it would need to be 4-6 inches long. One of the girls in the party has a very similar tattoo that is about two inches long from an artist back home. So we knew she was full of it, and just didn't want to service us. She also quoted us $120 which is odd because over the phone we were told for smaller tattoos there is no shop minimum and it's based on size. That's another reason we think she wanted it to be larger so she could charge more. She never once smiled and when we walked in the vibe was off. The other three women in the room who were there when we walked in also walked out after our interaction with this artist. read more

My six year-old daughter and I came into the shop today. She was getting her ears repierced and I was getting my nose repierced. Mike was amazing! He was so fantastic with my daughter and made her feel like this whole thing was no big deal. He was kid and adult friendly with over 15 years experience. My daughter knew she did NOT want to go to Claire's (thank goodness) and visit the plastic gun again. I hated I took her there in the first place. Mike used titanium and that's less irritating on her ears, so I was happy. This was my fourth time getting my nose pierced, and it was by far the quickest and easiest. Do not think of this shop as some tourist trap bc it is located on Seawall. This Galveston local is a total fan and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! P.S. I hate dark tattoo places, because it is difficult to see how clean it is. Aasylum was well-lit, the staff were super friendly (none of that 'tough guy' bullshit) and we were helped & then accordingly stabbed in a very timely manner! I know it is often luck/timing that gets you in soon, but seriously, these guys let us wait inside while they prepared our designs & then off we were. My tattoo artist was called Memo & he was a really nice dude. We talked during the entire time & even followed each other on Instagram (his handle is @durza10 if you want to check out some of his work). Brandy did my piercings and I highly recommend her! I called ahead to make sure I would be able to make it before close. So when I arrived she was ready for me! I got my nipples pierced, I had them pierced before by a different shop very poorly and Brandy was able to correct them even though there was scarred tissue! She was so nice during the whole process I felt so comfortable and safe with her in the private area they do piercings at. I had my medusa pierced there about a month of so ago. They were super cool and made me feel confident about getting it. My piercer, Joe, was quick and clean! My husband and I went in to each get tattoos. The guy at the front desk acted like he couldn't be bothered. He was unfriendly and looked completely wasted. Luckily, he said that they only took cash after he quoted us an outrageous price, and we went to Von Striga that did the same tattoo for 1/2 the price. The employees at Von Striga were friendly, professional and the place was very clean.
