Just had a pretty large fence done, and couldn't be happier with it. It's an all-black fence with a 10 foot gate and another smaller side gate. The finish of it looks amazing and even with changes in the elevation and turns, it still looks incredible and adds so much to the house. The team was amazing to work with. Super great at communicating and gave honest opinions on what we should do. Wouldn't ask anyone else to do a fence! read more

This company did a spectacular job building us a giant 33x20x6ft tall enclosure for our rescue dogs. Paul was very easy to work with and suggested bottom rails for extra security. They were quick and on time finishing the job. The price was right, lower than other bids. I will definitely hire them again for any fencing needs. The dogs are happy and I'm happy! read more

TL;DR - Didn't show up for estimate appointment - No heads up communication on missing appointment - My business did not seem as important as others - Would rather offend someone, than try to gain business back after a 3 star review --------------------- UPDATE (moved review down to 1 star because of Paul's response) To respond to Paul's response on my review I understand things do happen, and unfortunately it happened with my project. My review is based on my experience with your company and I didn't feel like you wanted to work with me on my project based to the reasons I listed. Which is why I gave you the 3 star review initially. Yes, you might work on all different types of projects but I wouldn't know because I didn't get passed step 1. Yes you offered to do a make up appointment, but I had to contact you first to even find out you were out of town and couldn't make the appointment we agreed upon. I would still be stuck in limbo if I didn't text you. I could easily accept all this as a missed opportunity , but instead of trying to win my business back, you decided to throw a shot at me by replying with this quote of projection: "Projection refers to unconsciously taking unwanted emotions or traits you don't like about yourself and attributing them to someone else." Thanks the quote. This really shows the type of person you are and how you would treat people if they ever had a disagreement with you. I'll be sure to pass my experience on to others looking for contractors for fencing. I hope the readers on Yelp understand why you earned the 1 star review I gave you. ------------------------ Contacted Aanco through Yelp and received a reply a few days later. Spoke with Paul through text and scheduled a date/time to do an estimate. They were a no show for the appointment and I had to follow up with them to find that Paul wasn't going to make it due to being in LA, according to his brother Eric. Eric did state that he could come by in 3 days to do an estimate, however, I told him I would move on to other contractors. I was told, good luck with my project. Aanco might be good at installing fences, but this was a bad first impression. I took the missed appointment and lack of communication as my project is too small for them and wasn't worth their time. read more

Aanco Fence - Paul's response to my initial review - Fences & Gates Near Me

The oddly built fence that came with my house was simply getting supremely old and falling apart. It was also built with 2x12 boards. Who does that? Anyway, it was finally time to replace that ridiculously shabby fence. I asked multiple companies to come out to give estimates but when Paul arrived, he impressed me with the obvious knowledge and experience he had dealing with fences. He immediately got my business. Dealing with him through out the process was simply... easy. From choosing the color stain to asking for different building materials, I felt taken care of. The build itself was fantastic. The whole crew that was in my property was so professional, personable, and proficient. My neighbor that shares the property line my fence was going to be on made it a point to come over to me to express his gratitude on how well the Aanco crew treated him as well. The final product turned out even BETTER than we had imagined it. I would post "before" pictures but I don't want that janky fence to show up in Aanco's pictures of fences read more

paul and eric are great people and i have been working with him family for years. i have referred clients to them for fencing needs and they have nothing but praises for their services and reliability read more

Paul was very responsive and came out to give me a quote. He was one of the few fence contractors that offers to stain the fence as well. Most others would simply install it and leave the staining to you. Not only did Paul's crew stain the fence, they did it offsite so all sides of the lumber are coated. So the areas that overlap and would be inaccessible to stain after installation are sealed. This should help extend the life of the fence. read more

Aanco Fence - During install, they will ask for the stain and type of wood u like as well as the type of fence u want. - Fences & Gates Near Me

Overall this company was easiest to deal with, had a competitive price to replace an old wood fence with a vinyl one. My request for an estimate was provided promptly and sent to me by email. The diagram showing the work to be done was comprehensive but the hand writing was hard to read. AANCO appears to be a professional operation, they should go more digital and have clearer documents. However nobody else provided follow up and diagrams like AANCO. Many estimates seemed like a verbal contract without documents. Barrett Southwest Fence was in second place but in their contract they wanted 50% up front and said they were not responsible for damage to other items like my sprinkler system. Forget that! AANCO was deducted one star for giving me a short notice that they were going to be behind schedule. If you need a new fence or one repaired I would recommend them. read more

These guys are great. They were very clear on what they were going to do and what the completed fence would look like. The construction required two very large gates with metal framing. The completed project was done on time, looked great and at a reasonable price. They are very professional and I would recommend Aanco to friends. read more

Paul did not actually build my fence, but he was one of the few fence contractors who promptly returned my inquiry. He was booked to far out for me to wait so I did not use him. But I would have, and the fact that he's booked for months tells you something. He took the time to give me advice and suggestions for my fence, which he did not have to do. Most of the fence guys in SD are flakes or just working too hard to even return phone calls. Tough trade to get lined up. read more

I selected Paul and Aanco Fence company because he came up with suggestions that no one else did to solve my fence problems. I have a neighbor who was paying nothing toward the cost of the fence, but was complaining about everything. He found a way to move my fence line in just enough to eliminate any of her complaints. His suggestions made my fence line straighter and gave me more privacy and security. There were a lot of problems to solve because the fence was not straight and it dropped down three levels. When they took fence boards off of the old fence, it was discovered that between our two retaining walls there was a gap on the neighbors side that allowed all the dirt to flow down hill from my yard on to hers. No problem for Aanco; they just built a "retaining wall" out of mud boards. They bolted onto solid walls and added boards up and filled it in. Please see the pictures because it was so cleaver and made something that could have been a real problem for me easy. They seamlessly tied my wood fence into the chain link fence that protects the top level where my pool is and attached that to the fence that was put in by a handyman in an emergency during the pandemic. If you look at the picture with the chainlink fence you will see the beautiful wood boards that Aanco put in next to the poor quality wood the handyman used. The wood they use is Japanese cedar and it is beautiful. They slopped the fence down two levels and it looks perfect. The mud boards at the bottom of the fence make all the difference. No dogs or skunks digging under, and no cranky neighbors seeing into my patio now. Paul and Eric and two other workers were on time, worked really fast and this complicated job was done in two days. They are the Zen Masters of fences. I have lived here for 28 years and had a lot of work done on my house and yard. The crew was the most professional, easiest to work with and left me with a beautiful fence. read more

I found Aanco fence after attempting to work with some of the bigger name fencing companies you might see commercials for on TV. Half of the companies I talked to either seemed disinterested in the work due to the smaller size of my job or simply never sent an estimate and went silent. That being said, I knew Aanco was a great company from the start after speaking with Paul and receiving an estimate that was so detail oriented that it blew everyone else out of the water. Paul worked with me on figuring out exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond helping me select stain colors and ornamental latches for my redwood/cedar lattice topped fence. While Aanco was on the high end of the estimates I received, after seeing the quality of their work I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a fence. Aanco's crew showed up on time everyday and left my yard just as clean as when they arrived. Eric and his partner worked from early in the morning until after dark to make sure the job was done well and on time. The attention to detail and quality of work is evident, and was well worth the money. read more

We needed 285 ft of chain link fence. We were a little hesitant when Paul's bid came was the lowest. However, he was extrem professional and it was apparent that he knew his business as he described what his company would do and what our responsibilities were. He even made a second trip to the property to be sure we had adequately cleared away the plants/trees that were along the fence line. The entire crew were prompt and efficient. They did a beautiful job. We could not be happier. We would not hesitate to recommend them to friends, family and anyone who needs a job well done. read more

Aanco refused to install my fence because of nearby roots. For any price - - they would not even provide an estimate. These guys are not professional, IMO, because they refuse to deal with common issues surrounding fence installation. Other contractors mentioned that they would have to cut some roots and charge for that, which is fine. Thanks for nothing. Update: Now I'm a "clown" because Aanco is unable to deal with roots? Stay tuned and I'll post a pic of the completed fence. read more

AANCO Fence recently installed two gates and a small amount of fencing at my home. The owner of the company, Paul, was prompt in arriving at my home for our initial appointment, and was very courteous and professional. He was able to provide me a bid that he honored from start to finish, and his team was available to do the job within a week. The gates and fences turned out great. They look nice and work well, and they seem very sturdy. Time will tell, as they have many years ahead of them, but upon my inspection and use thus far, all seems solid. The price for the gates/fences was very competitive/fair, and the entire job only took two days to complete. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is that the crew told me they would be done around 5pm on the second day, so I scheduled another contractor to arrive for a different job at 6pm. They weren't even close to finished, so when the contractor showed up, the fence guys were in the way. It was a pain to deal with. Overall, I am happy with the product and satisfied by the customer service. I would call on Paul and AANCO again in the future when I need more work on my fences. read more

After moving into my new home I needed to install a black 4ft high rode iron fence at the foot of my back yard which slopped down about 30 ft., and ensure the safety of my children. I was referred to Aanco Fence and met with Paul the Manager. He was professional, polite, courteous and friendly. He was quick to respond with the lowest bid and started the project soon thereafter. Paul and his team completed the project in a few days and I was extremely happy with the quality of the work and the product. I would highly recommend Aanco Fence to my family and friends. These guys are amazing. Very professional from start to finish. We badly needed a new fence. Ours was 15 years old and falling apart. Paul is very detailed with his quote and he answered every question we had very efficiently. Our next door neighbors wanted to keep the same stain as the builder installed and we wanted a deeper red brown to match our yard. Aanco was able to stain the fence before installation in both colors! Our neighbors have their color on their side and we have ours on our side. They worked quickly, yet were very mindful of our plants. We highly recommend Aanco Fence! read more

I requested a quote and received one from Paul. It was in text form and I told him in needed to be more formal as I was splitting the cost with my neighbor, an absent landlord and a text would not do. I had to remind him to send it after a few days. After receiving it I told him I found his company through an ad in Home Concepts Magazine which mentions a 10% discount up to $500.00. He told be that all discounts were already applied. Big turn off. They should at least be smart enough to put a discount line on their quotes. Needless to say Aanco did not get my business. I found a contractor that did a beautiful job and it cost me $2k less! Maybe its good they didn't give me that $500 discount or they would have gotten my business. read more

Jeanette had done a great job at communicating with me over the phone, and she even called yesterday to confirm our appointment for today. Today comes, made a call at 4:40 since no one had yet to show, no answer from the company and I stuck around until 5 and still no one showed or called to reschedule. I was really thinking that Aanco would come through here with an initial quote and try to gain my business, but you only get one first impression and they blew it. If I can't trust them to show up for a quote, how can I trust them to show up to do the actual work? UPDATE: Jeanette, as previously mentioned, did a great job communicating following my review on here. She was polite in her response and apologized for the failure of Paul to show up. Due to that, I agreed to have Paul come back out and he just finished his initial visit with me. He seemed very knowledgeable regarding the installation of the gate that I desire, and I am currently awaiting his bid. read more

Asked this company to give us a quote since our insurance will be paying and need a quote to get the cost approved. Easy and simple, give us a quote for a wood fence / gate and for a vinyl fence/gate. Paul came and said they could not help us. I asked for a wood gate quote. Still waiting to receive the quote. If we don't meet your minimums and AANCO can not do a small job such as ours, please reply and say so. Don't leave us hanging and waiting for a quote that you said you would send. I will not leave a 1 star review since they did not actually put up the gate, but thought I'd leave my comment to communicate my disappointment with my quote experience. read more

They did job quick, but did not do it very carefully. As a result, every single hole they dig for the pose broke my sprinkle pipe. Half of these sprinkles are off ground, so it is very obvious the pine line is around. I gave them a call and they said they should not be responsible for broken pipe, but they sometimes do help for the customers. So It took them a month to come to fix one spot I reported. Couple weeks later, another broken spot showed up at different location. I asked them to come again, they fixed that one. Then I found three more afterwards. Due to their slow actions, I have to hire gardener to fix these three due to HOA complained the dead grass. However, I am still not sure if there are no more broken spots unless I re-pipe it. These guys did an amazing job at our house. They really take pride in their work. They made sure I was happy with every aspect of the job.

Super workmanship, super customer service, great communication. Paul and his assistants tore down our old fence on a steep slope and rebuilt about 110 feet plus a new gate in two days, and did an excellent job. They did more than just "get the job done;" they were happy to fix a couple of details about the way the fence looked (for example, where another neighbor's fence left a metal post facing our property at an odd angle, they figured out how to cover it up). When I noticed a board had split after they finished, plus a gap I wasn't comfortable with at the bottom of the gate, they came back soon (about a week later) and fixed everything. Paul also was extremely patient and amiable throughout several months of delays due to complications I had dealing with an absentee property owner for my neighbor's side. I had some other bids and I think Aanco was quite reasonable. When it's time to do my fence on the other side, I'll certainly be calling Aanco. read more
