The portside precinct has expanded and now offer a variety of food offerings. Indian is now in the mix of Japanese, Italian, Mediterranean, Australian and more. It is next to Max Brenner.
Firstly, the decor is nice for an Indian restaurant. Most do not really pay attention to detail like these guys. The entrance and signage match with that arching curve, and the backlit mural of Ganesh is really nice.
The menu is fairly standard, with the usual north Indian items found in most Indian restaurants: Butter chicken, tikka masala, kadahi.
The waiter was very friendly.
The tandoori platter and vegetarian platter were excellent. The salad is edible rather than a few strands of cabbage for colour. Meat was tender, and the samosa were excellent. Main meals were tasty, well proportioned and rice is complimentary. I had the saffron kulfi for dessert. I would go there again just for that. (I'm biased - that flavour brings back childhood memories).
Parking is somewhat difficult now that portside is so busy. It can be a little frustrating in that little basement carpark. Good luck there!
The floors are tiled. Conversation and laughter reverberate around. It was a fairly quiet night when I went. I noticed the noise when another party sat down to dine. I would expect a fairly noisy environment with a full house.
Overall a nice place for Indian food in the Portside area. Indian restaurants make their food in different ways and it really depends on your taste as to how you like their version of the standard dishes. I welcome their offerings. read more
