I've been coming to this place for a few years now I like that they're reasonably priced and they do a reasonable job. The girls are usually sweet and work quickly so I can come in and out in a matter of minutes. And even though they're busy a lot of the time you don't have to wait too long. But the reason I'm giving two stars is because it's gotten kind of dirty more recently. Like literally grease on the chairs and they expect me to put to rest my head on there it's kind of gross. And they use the same eyebrow brush on everybody without cleaning it. You don't even realize they're using it on you until you're waiting to get your turn and you realize the same brush is being used over and over and over again. I always liked the 10 card discounts but just this last time I realized I had a free eyebrow threading card and realized after I had already paid for the service. The person at the register said she couldn't refund my money since it was already put into the cash registers system it's not a high-tech system so I don't even understand how that's an issue. And then I said okay so give me a new punch card and put in the first punch since I'm not able to use this last free one and I'll use it next time and she refused to do so saying that I have to use my free one before they give me a new card. Seriously? And she said her boss would get mad if she did that. I think her boss should be mad at her for not using her common sense. And I would guess her boss would probably prefer for the customers to remain customers. After using my free card I don't plan to remain one. read more

They are not bad for the price but the last 2 times I've been here they have done a rush job on my eyebrow threading and left some hairs unthreaded. My eyebrows still looked a little messy both times and when I asked them to fix it, they simply refused because they had customers waiting and said my "shape looked fine" and i am overreacting. Will not be coming back here again. read more

I have been going to Shamsha for over 10 years for threading and waxing and it's consistently been a wonderful experience! My eyebrows always come out great, they are nice and friendly and the salon is very nice overall. There are enough people working there that you can always get in and out quickly without having to wait. The other girls in the salon also do a very nice job as well. Highly recommend!! read more

The person who threaded my eyebrows left a small cut under one of my eyebrows. The person didn't bring it up, and instead I saw it in the mirror when she finished. I paid, tipped, and didn't complain because accidents happen- but then the cut bled the day after! I won't be back. read more

Probably one of my worst threading experiences in terms of pain, and I've been doing threading for at least 10 years. I have sensitive skin, which is why I do threading in the first place. When threading, you shouldn't fee like your skin is coming off with the hair. Also, I specifically asked my eyebrows not be shaped or made skinnier, but they were. Aside from that, the owner (or at least the person who seemed in charge) was not that nice, so it's a no for coming back. There are so many other better threading salons in the area, and I regret not going to one of them. read more

Then when I went back the manager was so rude claiming it was nothing and I should just cover it with makeup..and that she didnt expect this from a Muslim. I moved to NY from California and I must say I've never received such terrible and rude service before! As I first got there, the lady told me to take a seat and wait, after about two min she called me to a chair and did not proceed to even ask how I wanted my eyebrows to be threaded. She just started threading my eyebrows, and once she was done she said I'm good to go and started walking towards the payment counter without even asking me if my eyebrows were fine or even handing me a mirror to check them out first. Every service I've ever received for threading at other places have always given me a mirror or allowed me the opportunity to check my eyebrows out and see if I'm satisfied with them, before we can even proceed to the payment counter to pay. I had to rush and get up to pay as she had already started the register and was waiting for me to pay. I couldn't even look at my eyebrows or determine if they were good enough. On top of that the sign outside said threading was $4.99 and she charged me $6.99. The lack of professionalism and customer satisfaction at this place is insane. Definitely will not come here again, and if you like someone who can actually converse with you about your eyebrows before starting the job then I recommend this place is not for you either! read more

NEVER GOING BACK! Terrible experience! This was my second time going to this salon. I went last year and I was not thrilled about the eyebrow threading, but for $5 bucks, I said why not? Today, I happen to be in the plaza and saw the $5 special for today. My gut told me that I should wait to go to my spot, but with the hectic week ahead of me, I decided to give them another shot. ABSOLUTE MISTAKE- HALF MY EYEBROW WAS THREADED OFF! There were two women working today, around 4PM. The heavier set woman (Netu) handled my brows. First, I thought it was annoying that she rested her hands on my nose and her stomach on my arms. Secondly, I was annoyed by how much it was hurting to get the threading done. The reason is because she takes she sweet old time threading, so you can literally feel every hair being pulled out. But, I did not complain because I figured she was taking her time to get it right. I WAS WRONG! She screwed up my brows badly! Mind you, I have been growing them out for a month now, so that I can get an awesome shape. My brows had dips in them and they were not straight. To make matters worse, SHE TOOK OFF HALF OF MY LEFT BROW!!! I could have cried. The older woman (Netta) rushed over and I can see in her face that she knew that woman messed up, but NEITHER of them WOULD ADMIT HER WRONGDOING. I paid my $5 and left because I was in a rush and could not sit around arguing. I went to my car and saw in daylight how badly it was done and went back into the salon and demanded that they fix it. The older woman did her best to fix it. But it was impossible. She kept saying "IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY." Yeah, easy for you to say. I asked for my money back and she refused. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN! The older woman while fixing it clearly knew what she was doing, I felt no paid when she threaded. Netu needs to be retrained immediately! I am so pissed! NOT WORTH THE $5 SPECIAL! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. They don't even clean their hands or sanitize it between money handling and customers. Netu had an attitude when I asked her to sanitize her hands- must be the reason why she took off half my brow. read more

I wish I could rate 0 stars rating! Absolutely horrible! First time I went for half arm waxing, the lady tried to use a dirty wet towel to wipe my arms (completely unhygienic!) when I just requested a moist tissue instead.At other salons, you pay less and they use a clean moist warm towel post wax. Second time, my mistake to return but I requested for half face waxing and threading a day before a party (silly me because I have always had waxing and threading closer to the day of a special event and never have I had an issue) and it became a big price issue, mainly because I mentioned the difference in price at the Hicksville location. At that point, the lady called her owner to discuss a price for my apparently very unique situation asking for a combination of wax followed by thread (I have been waxing and threading for numerous years!). Although a sweet lady, did my waxing and threading, I walked away with burns on my chin. There were 2 clients whom I can only assume were regulars at the salon waiting for her after me so she was clearly rushing. Unsatisfactory job and now I have burn scars. Very unfortunate that the lady felt the need to rush to satisfy the customers waiting and in the process, literally scarred me. Additionally, time issue was not a concern as it was approximately 6:45 pm and they close at 8 pm. She followed it up by saying I have very "sensitive" skin... In my past 20 plus years of using wax, I have never experienced a burn such as this (photos uploaded). The prices are also higher than other salons in comparison. Never going back to the Hicksville or Carle Place/ old country Rd location and I do not recommend at all! read more

This beauty salon is terrible. I went for an upper lip wax and they burned my skin. Now I will have a burn mark on my face that I have to live with. When I went back to show them they basically laughed in my face and said oh put some aloe on it u have sensitive skin! Sensitive skin! Are you kidding me! I've had waxed my upper lip many times and never had this happen to me! This happened because these people do not know how to properly wax. Wax was too hot and she waxed over the same area repeatedly 4 to 5 times! After trying to explain to the lady that my skin heels a dark purplish color I showed her an old burn scar on my arm and her response was " ohh, we waxed your arm too". Based on the reaction given, it seems it is normal to leave this salon with a burn after being waxed! I will never go to this salon again and I strongly do not recommend this salon to anyone! read more

If you're looking for a quick and affordable place to get your eyebrows done this is the place to go. The place is very small and isn't updated, so if you're high maintenance and you're looking for *that* kind of salon, look the other way. Personally, I think this place got the job done and was beyond my expectations for eyebrow threading. There was no wait time and the whole process was very quick and concise - just 5 mins! Even when I had to wait, it wasn't that long - also just 5 mins! The girls are friendly and have you check the progress along the way. They'll go over spots if you weren't too satisfied. They're playing it safe that way, better than accidentally overdoing it like some other places! Been here a few times already, I'll probably be a regular. read more

They don't say hello when you come in. They don't listen to anything you ask them to do they just do what they think is best for your eyebrows even if it's the opposite of what you want. It is never the same person in there so you'll never see "your lady" again even if she actually did a good job. They have messed up my eyebrows more than once. Do not come here you're better off doing them yourself. read more
