We were doing a partial remodel of the kitchen. We replaced countertops and needed to install a new stove top etc. The guy the counter place recommended decided he wasn't going to return calls. It took months to get the appliances etc and now we had no installer. I had called AAARK for the furnace and noticed they also do remodel work. I called to schedule an inspection and they scheduled me the next day. Three guys showed up and got the work done. Months of dealing with other companies wasted. I wish I had called AAARK from the start. Nice guys. Efficient. They did what they said they would do. And they knew what needed to be done. One of the most unprofessional and disappointing experiences I've ever had with a contractor. AAARK Heating, Air & Plumbing installed a tankless water heater in my home about 15 years ago. The original installation was done by an 18- or 19-year-old technician who stated he was the owner's son. To be fair, I understand that building and electrical codes can change over the course of 15 years. However, even accounting for that, I've since learned there were serious issues with the installation that go beyond simple code updates. During maintenance a couple of years ago, I was told the unit appeared to have been dropped, leaving a visible dent on its side. Additionally, the unit was powered using a long extension cord run across the basement, which is difficult to justify as acceptable workmanship even at the time of installation. Now that I'm looking into replacement, I've been told it will cost $2,200 just to bring the existing setup up to current code, correcting issues tied directly to how the system was originally installed. When I recently called to ask--calmly and reasonably--whether there was anything AAARK could do to help offset the cost of correcting these issues, the response was unacceptable. Titus, who said he was the owner, called me back and immediately became hostile. Before the conversation even began, he stated there was no way he would help, talked over me repeatedly, told me we were "no longer a customer so it doesn't matter," and then hung up on me. Codes change. Professionalism, accountability, and basic respect should not. Based on the original workmanship and the way this situation was handled years later, I cannot recommend AAARK Heating, Air & Plumbing. There are other companies that take responsibility for their work and treat customers with basic decency--AAARK is clearly not one of them. read more

The manufacturer required the servicing company (AAARK) to make the warranty claim. AAARK representatives promised to make this claim for me by the deadline. I followed-up via phone, email, and text more than eight times. Called on a Monday told them the specific part I needed on my steam boiler, gave them the exact model number and part number, they said no problem. The next day they missed their three hour window by an hour. Didn't bring the part. Said they would come any time the next day with the right part. Would not call me back till the end of the third day to tell me they don't even service steam boilers. The technician didn't even know the difference between a steam boiler and a water boiler. The owner (who will no doubt make up some lying excuse) should be ashamed of themselves for trying to sell such an unprofessional. This is they type of company that gives Tradesman a bad name, unethical and unprofessional to the core. They left me without heat with little kids at home, and they could care less about their incompetence. (Update to owners: Just a liar. They showed up to my house twice and were so bad they didn't know the difference between a boiler and a furance. Looks at their reviews and avoid. I scheduled AC maintenance with AARK Total Home Services after being quoted $99 for the job. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The technician arrived late with little communication about the delay. Once on site, they only asked me a few quick questions before saying additional services were needed, which I had not requested, and then charged me significantly more than the $99 quoted. The lack of transparency, poor communication, and unexpected price increase left me feeling misled. I would strongly recommend getting all details in writing beforehand if you choose to work with them. read more

Rarely write reviews but we got burned really bad by Aaark this Spring. We had been receiving moderately good and professional spring/fall servicing for our evaporative cooler the last few years. So I called in April to schedule the servicing, then in May to follow up on a arrival time. The technician showed up, started servicing the unit on the second floor roof. After starting the job then came down from the lader (mid job) and indicated that after this week, they will no longer be doing evaporative cooler maintenance, and today's price would be more than double what it had been for Spring and Fall. Spring/Fall servicing $385 compared with $400 for spring servicing this May! The office staff never mentioned this when I called twice, nor did the technician before he started the job, locking it in.... Shame on me for not getting a cost quote from the office and confirming upon arrival, but we have been working with them for 3 years such that I thought this kind of thing wouldn't have happened....... read more

I have used AAARK for a while now - they replaced a swamp cooler and a water heater. I thought they were great! I then began to use them to turn on/ off my swamp cooler. They had a a price of $380 for the turn on and the turn off in the fall. So I called again this year- but will never use them again! They are charging $450 to JUST turn it on! That means another $450 to turn it off! I am not paying $900 for someone to basically flip a switch and turn the water on! So $380 to $900 - I don't think so- sorry AAARK! You just lost a good customer :( read more

I never expect something for nothing, and always pay my fair share. However, when something comes with a one year warranty for parts and labor for work that was done in January of 2018 I expect them to stand behind their written word. After inspecting my 17 year old boiler, Matt gave me the options of either investing in repairing it keep it going or upgrading to a new boiler. I decided it was better to invest the money I would spend to repair the old one into getting a new one. In the meantime, my old boiler still needed significant service. I have used Aaark for over a decade and up until this past week I would have given them 5 stars. Prices had always seemed competitive and work was excellent, employees were friendly and knowledgeable. This last week I needed a zone valve head replaced and I needed some flue piping replaced. Aaark was at the house for maybe 2.5 hours and maybe there was $150 in parts involved. Total bill was over $1300. The owner, Titus, said that if I thought his prices were extreme (and I do) then I should check with Applewood Plumbing and Brothers Plumbing. Funny thing is that neither of those companies will give you any kind of estimate over the phone nor will they come out and give free estimates. So to get estimates from these two other companies I would probably be out another $200 on top of my already extreme bill of $1300. I placed two calls to two other long time plumbing companies in the area and both were willing to give phone estimates, hourly labor rates and cost of parts estimates. Both companies would have been well below a total of $600 for the zone valve head replacement and the flue pipe replacement. I think the bottom line for me going forward is to stick with : 1) Companies that are willing to provide a free estimate for parts and labor over the phone or in person. 2) Companies that don't charge a flat rate, unless that flat rate can compared favorably to other "parts and labor" estimates. 3) Companies that don't mark up the price of parts exorbitantly. It is very easy to get pricing for parts on the internet these days so should be easy to verify their prices. Titus, the owner, will likely reply that I have gotten my facts wrong, or that I don't understand the business. I'll be happy to argue any of his points with him. read more

The guys at Aaark are fantastic. I've used them for several projects and they pay attention to detail and am very pleased. I've worked with at least half a dozen of their workers and all have been top notch and professional. Here are the projects Aaark has done for me: New furnace: they showed up fast to replace an old failed furnace during winter. It is dialed in and working great. Humidifier: this required tricky duct work to fit in my small utility room space. Swamp cooler: replaced an old rusty and leaky unit. Moved it to a better place on the roof that was up to code. Hot water heater: 50 gallon is nice. Clean water pipe work. Gutters: just got these yesterday. Look good. Replaced old steel ones that were from 1958. Water valve: needed a new water valve that feeds the sprinkler system. Old one started to develop a leak. Thanks Aaark! read more

You still haven't explained why you yelled at a paying customer then proceed to hang up the phone instead of rationally and calmly getting your point across. While you try to tell me that I have to abide by City and State regulations, you forget that you did not do the same. Regardless if the city inspectors claims are bogus, you are in the business of abiding by their rules, just like I am. The inside inspection was completed, I have a form that said it passed. Had you done what you were supposed to in the first place, I would not be asked to take a second unpaid day off of work. How am I supposed to have faith that you completed the work correctly this time. I asked that Aaark send someone to my residence in the very likely event that Aaark has done shotty work again. You can't say the inspector was wrong when your company did come out to the residence to correct something. Please stop being unprofessional and putting the blame elsewhere, it just makes you look worse than you already do. I am in contact with the Sears HVAC dept (who I originally paid and they contracted this bad company) to file a complaint about the office, have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and will constantly talk badly about this company to anyone who is looking for home renovations. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR in dealing with customers. You should NEVER get in a yelling match with your customers even if I was (which I wasn't) being completely irrational. If you want a company who has NO integrity, deplorable customer service and does not stand behind their work ... Then boy do I have a company for you. We contracted with Aaark total home services and had them install a cooling unit in our new home. A short time after our neighborhood was struck by a large amount of rain and a section of ceiling below the cooling unit showed signs of a major leak. Although Aaark total home services denied responsibly, two separate inspectors linked the damage directly back to their company and the installation of the cooling unit. In regard to an explanation, Aaark total home services attempted to blame the damage on the parties who replaced the roofing approximately five years earlier. And added insult to injury by relating that the "flashing" that was in place prior to their installation was not the right size for the unit they installed. It should be noted that they had no answer as to why they would install a new unit on hardware that was not the right fit as opposed to billing a few hundred dollars more for the right fit. My deck was severally damaged during our last hail storm, my Insurance company, State Farm, agreed the deck needed to be replaced and told me to submit a bid to State Farm from a deck company, so I emailed AAARK and asked for a bid. What a joke that was, AAARK refused and told me what procedures the Insurance Company must follow before AAARK would prepare a bid. It is my understanding, if you want to get PAID for the deck, you should follow the instructions from the Insurance Company NOT your Contractor. If your contractor refuses to do what the Insurance Company requires, YOU WILL NOT GET PAID by the Insurance Company. Consequently, I suggest DO NOT USE AAARK get a reputable Contractor, unless you want nothing but trouble from your Insurance Company. read more

I called the owner who listened to my water heater problems and we decided a new heater was needed. He was able to send a plumber on Saturday to install it but when his plumber got here, he noticed another part which he suspected may be the culprit. He could've kept this from me and proceeded to install the new heater for 7x the cost of replacing these parts but had this guy had the integrity to shoot straight instead. When done there was a small leak which he had to make a trip to get special parts for, yet didn't charge more for this extra hour of work on a Saturday. Very happy! read more

Our furnace went out on one of the coldest nights of the year at midnight! We called several different places and never got a call back. We called Aaark and Joe was here within the hour! He was fast, courteous, professional, thorough and friendly. We are so very grateful for the excellent service and I highly recommend them. BTW, he was outside knocking snow and ice off of the air vent which made our 5 year old Trane furnace stop working. (it was -11 degrees outside!) He told us it was a very safe furnace and had nothing but good things to say about it. I'm impressed that he didn't try to upsell us on anything we didn't need. Great job Joe! We have had a generally very poor experience with this company. We hired them last November to install a new evaporative cooler system on our home. The installers accidentally locked my cat in my attic during their installation, and it sounded to us as though he was actually INSIDE the ductwork they had installed. I called their on-call service in something of a panic and was informed that they did not respond to that kind of call and that my cat was my problem. I asked to speak with the owner and when he called back he treated me to a ten minute diatribe on how I was an irresponsible pet owner and he was not sending anyone out to help with the problem. I kept trying to say I did not expect them to rescue my cat free of charge, but Titus was so busy telling me how wrong I was for bothering him that I don't think he registered what I was suggesting. The other owner, Levi, contacted me soon after to apologize and acknowledge that his brother had not handled my call well. To add to the issues we had, the installers left a very large piece of ductwork debris in my backyard for six months, improperly winterized the cooler and managed to LOSE one of the panels that is supposed to be used to winterize it, and now after six months when they came out to turn the cooler on for summer it worked once for a short period of time and now does not come on at all. They are supposed to return today to repair it AGAIN, but if I didn't think it would be more painful to start over with a new service provider than to just allow them to hopefully fix their shoddy work, I would. Levi has been wonderful, very civil and apologetic about the multiple screw ups on our job, but he has had to be civil and apologetic about way too many things. Learn from my mistake and choose another contractor. By the way, we managed to get the kitty out of the attic all on our own. read more

About 12 years ago I needed a new furnace. My elderly dad asked a couple of his buddies if they could recommend a company, & he told me they both said in unison "AAARK!" And AAARK has served me very well ever since, having done several projects in my home. They do excellent work, are reliable, & their prices are very competitive. This evening I had a little emergency with a water leak. I called AAARK & they put me in touch with one of their plumbers, Bruce, who was at another job but could come out in a couple hours. I was panicking & told Bruce I'd like to see if I could find someone who could come out sooner. He said that'd be fine, if I could just let him know what I decide. Well, I called a competitor & the soonest they could get someone out was tomorrow. So I called Bruce back & asked if he could still come over this evening & he said yes, certainly, he'd be over as soon as he could. Then I called the property management company to let them know about the situation. They wanted to send one of their own plumbers over since the leak may end up being the HOA's responsibility. So I had to call Bruce back & cancel the appt. after all. Even though no one would blame him for being annoyed with me, he simply could not have been more gracious & good natured about the whole thing. Bruce, you are, sir, a true gentleman. We've used Aaark a couple of times now and would recommend them to anyone. The first time they came out was to teach me how to open and close our swamp cooler. They took me up on to the roof and explained everything...at a very affordable price. The second time was an emergency. We had a back up in our basement and could only get on the waiting list at several other companies. I don't know why I didn't call Aaark to begin with. They sent someone right away and he fixed the problem and cleaned up behind himself as he left. It was way more than we ever expected. We have recommended them to several other people and they have ALL been pleased with the service and honesty and integrity of this company. They seem to be more about total service than about making every dollar they possibly can. I can do my own swamp cooler now because they took the time to teach me. I save money every year. How does that help them? Well, I'll call them every time in the future now. read more

I was driving eastbound on hwy 76 yesterday and saw one of Aaarks trucks engaged in some dangerous driving that most would probably consider a road rage incident. The Aaark truck was in the left lane traveling at or under the speed limit, but whenever someone would try to pass him he would accelerate noticibly to ensure nobody could pass him, and then slow way down again when the cars would get behind him again. This is very dangerous and I'm not sure why someone would drive this way, especially in a commercial vehicle with the company name on the side. Unfortunately the truck was too dirty for me to call the company or the State Patrol, but after seeing this incident I will not give my business to Aaark and hope others will follow suit. I would hope a company who employs technicians who travel on our roads in company vehicles would have higher standards for their employees driving habits. read more

We had a small leak in our bathroom. Come to find out the previous home owner has drilled the mirror into the pipe into the wall! We were referred to AAARK to complete the job. Called them and has someone out in 24 hours to help find the leak. Replaced the pipe same day. Great! Then it took 3 weeks to get drywall crews out to fix the hole (maybe 1'x2') in size. Then was told because of the wait they'd get someone out to paint for us free of charge. Guy was scheduled to be there at 7am...showed up at 9:30am and somehow was given our garage code to get into our house...we were then not home. Guy was upset because it was a different color of paint (we told by the original guy no issues they were doing this as a courtesy)...He stated it would cost $65/hr to then paint for us and would take minimum 5 hours but maybe all day (our bathroom is a 1/2 bath that is 6'x6'). My husband then proceeded to ask the painter to leave. He then found an email address to complain about this. The owner then proceeded to call and YELL at my husband and stated that WE were in the wrong and had no idea what we were talking about. We said we were done with their service and we were given our bill which ended up being more than we were quoted...even now without it being painted!!! Worst customer service ever!!!! read more
