I was referred to Sub Zero by a friend who used them when my A/C went south at one of my vacation rental properties. They showed up very promptly, and they were very good with my vacation rental tenants. I was given the option of a repair or replacement and after an attempt at repair, we all came to the conclusion of replacement. They gave me a really good price on a 16 seer unit and even brought in a crane to place the compressor on top of my townhouse. We recently got a price on the same 3 ton unit at our home in Broward County and it was hundreds more. To top that, they don't need a crane to install that one in Coconut Creek. I will continue to use and recommend AAA Sub Zero at all of my vacation rentals here in the Keys! read more

I have a turn of the older craftsman house in Key Largo in which I was process of replacing all of the existing Air Conditioning and unfortunately had initially hired the wrong company. I was left with a half installed HVAC that the inspector marked on the corrections sheet a very long list. So I called AAA Sub Zero as they are certified and listed right on their site. They came right out and assessed the corrections and what needed to be done to get it done right. He explained very clearly where the issues were. He offered a very good price, but more importantly quality installation that would pass code. They removed the problem items with the old HVAC system in a couple days. So I called back the inspector, PASSED! What a weight was lifted off me - and if you dealt with city Inspectors, you know what I mean. Awesome job and very cool guy, I couldn't thank him enough. Expensive! did not provide an estimate and charged over $1500 to change a couple of $15 capacitors and recharge freon... Blamed the people who did the wiring of the unit... Turns out they installed the unit in 2007. read more

Our HVAC system was 22 years old and came with our house from the builder. Our technician told us every year during normal service visits in the last few years that we were living on borrowed time. The unit was very inefficient by today's standards and cost us a fortune to run. Even though the system still operated, we decided to upgrade to a whole new system. We had three different vendors quote a new system with zones. Zones are especially nice in a large two story home like ours. AAA Sun Zero and the other two two vendors were all about the same price, same features, same info. We are so glad we hired AAA Sub Zero. They were so fast, clean, careful, polite and very concerned that we were happy and the job was completed properly. My brother is an estimator in construction and he was very impressed with our technician and the support we eceived from the field and from management. read more

During July, 2011, I paid 3646.00 to AAA Sub-Zero for the installation of a new Rheem/Ruud AC unit. I chose this company for two reasons: 1. Lowest estimate for the necessary work. 2.the only company I could find that would do the installation within 2 days. In the extreme heat of that July, I was desperate for AC. Before installation, I was informed by Charlie Rumpf, owner of AAA Sub-Zero, that the unit being installed was the right size for my home. The old was a two ton, and he insisted that a 4 ton would be perfect. After installation, I began having extreme issues with condensation. I discovered it when the moisture from under the house was coming to the surface of the sub-flooring. At the time of the AC installation, I was having all of the sub-flooring replaced in my home. I was able to remove a piece of the sub-flooring and found pools of water on the duct work. It is also then when I realized the duct work had not been replaced during installation of the new AC unit. Most of the insulation around the duct work was so saturated with water that it had fallen off, and in turn, the vapor barrier was pulled loose and laying on the ground. Charlie Rumpf of AAA Sub-Zero had installed an AC unit that was too large for the original duct work. Because the ducts had not been replaced with the AC installation, I then had a serious moisture problem. Charlie's son arrived to replace duct-work, and then months later, I find out that, according to Charlie, he was not aware of his son doing any work! I had already paid another $5,900 for replacement duct-work and spray foam insulation. The duct work WAS NOT replaced. The insulation was not properly sprayed. The subcontractor had no idea what he was doing! I called Charlie, and he said that he had no idea that his son had completed any work. The problems continue. On Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, the AC stopped working! I immediately called Charlie, AAA Sub-Zero, and he told me he would take care of it first thing in the morning. Someone arrived just before NOON on Tuesday, Feb. 11. At that point, it was 90 degrees in my home. About an hour later, the service technician presented me with a bill for $650 for a blower motor and its installation. I was charged for labor and parts. Charlie insisted that the part was not covered by the ten year warranty. I refused to make the payment, so Charlie Rumpt told his worker to remove the new, presently working motor. The technician removed it, and then tried to leave with the broken motor. When confronted, he told me to call and get permission from Charlie! After the departure of AAA Sub-Zero, I called R G Mechanical, and the owner, Ray Garrido, arrived by late afternoon. He ordered the part and told me he would return the next morning to install the motor. He arrived the next morning, installed the motor, and it would not work. As Ray, checked to identify the problem, he found loosened and cut wires, along with a wire to a FKEC box that had never been reconnected since the unit was first installed in 2011! The connection was stuck to some of the spray foam insulation. AAA Sub-Zero has been and continues to be a nightmare. I believe that Charlie Rumpf is a con artist who uses his business as a cover for his crimes of deceit and thievery. I strongly recommend that anyone who needs AC or heating work completed stay far, far away from AAA Sub-Zero! read more

AVOID!!! Called AAA for warranty work on Cruise Air marine AC unit. They did not show up the first day scheduled. The second day, they didn't arrive until 6pm. The technicians were very professional and courteous. They identified the problem quickly, however the owner/manager ordered the wrong part. No worries, people make mistakes. Unfortunately, the owner/manager charged us for his time "researching" and sending back the wrong part that he ordered. BTW, this company is a certified Cruise Air Dealer. I felt really bad for the technician who had to present us with bill of almost grand for something that was covered under warranty. I would NOT under any circumstances recommend this company. We won't make this mistake again, and hope you don't either. read more

Fire hazard and poor workmanship. I Contacted aaa subzero in early March to get a new air handler and new duct work installed. The tech/ installers came out to install and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. They wanted to replace all existing duct work with 6" flex duct that had only an R4 value. After telling the guys how to do there job and expecting the same or better quality ducting I realized that the installers had no idea what they were doing they spliced R6 with R4 flex duct, used boots (the thing in the wall the duct connects to) that were smaller than existing, used non metallic duct tape, used no cable ties, used no mastic around collars at boots, they may have used collars at the plenum but just stuffed a few ducts into the plenum box allowing for no airflow. They used the wrong size Y for splitting a 10" duct into two 8" ducts. Some boots were not even hooked up in turn cooling the attic. To top it all off they tried to leave with out reinstalling the float switch at the drain line or the pan when I insisted they replace that they be grudgingly did except they didn't even hook them up! They just shoved the wires in the air handler. Worst of all the tech doing the installation incorrectly wired the heater in the air handler. He used #10 stranded wire instead of a # 8 the amount of amps drawn through those wires would have created a fire! Another company came into to repair all of the terrible work that was done by AAA sub zero and said it was the worst work they have ever seen. this company is a bunch of scam artist they installed a package unit in my mobile home a couple of years ago they sent this ken kid who decides to tell me that my blower motor has been shorted then this Charles Rumpf calls and tells me the motor has failed do to lightning when we didn't even have a lightning storm says its going to be 695 plus tax for the motor installed so I wanted to wait I asked ken what happened to the young man that installed it and he said the kids a no good dirt bag the kid was way more professional and honest then ken and to top it off got my buddy to come do the warranty to find out Mr.Rumpf claimed my motor under warranty already 4 months before which is way illegal and he can lose there license to install and deal with rheem im sure im not the only one who he has done that too stay away from these thieves read more
