I was in here about a month ago and I asked about insurance for Uber drivers. I was told by the insurance agent that CSAA does not ensure Uber drivers and he would not even give me a quote knowing that I was an Uber driver. This however, is not even true. CSAA does ensure Uber drivers and they are actually Uber's own insurance provider. I don't know why I was told this, but I definitely was lied . I would not trust these guys. read more

They are so helpful! I love their DMV services. It's fast and they are people oriented. I saw a gentleman going above and beyond helping a lady charge her phone while waiting for her cab. I am a fan of AAA. However I don't understand the new check in policy. If you're going to have people check in, have someone there. Today the gal who was checking people in all of a sudden had to deal with some paperwork 10' from her desk while the line grew. Then the gal from across the way is calling out to us because she sees the line backing up. Still love AAA. However this new "system" isn't working. Go back to the way it was. OR have a dedicated person checking people in AKA "what's your name ? Ok go sit over there." read more

Never got a tow, I had to remove the tire and take it to the place myself and then come back and put the tire back on. A total of 3 hours waiting yesterday to just have the tow canceled and be stuck 2.5 hours away from home. Then today waited over an hour and then just had to find a way to do it myself. And once I was done, I got a call saying they are still looking for someone to tow my car this is the worst service I have ever had read more

I had a very unique situation happening with my vehicle, I paid my registration I just did not have the current tag to place On my vehicle, because I needed to have it smogged . My car broke down, my car it needed mechanical service and I was on the way to the shop. I was not in a safe place, and left a senior citizen that is disabled on the side of the road. They refused to tow my car. So I'm paying membership fees for nothing, my car is street legal according to Monterey and Pacific Grove Police Department I've had many issues with AAA in the past several years and I've been a member for over 20 years. And they're just cracking down, well they left a disabled senior woman at the side of the road Because of their stipulation of not being able to tow my car. I had to get a friend to help tow my car out of the area because it was not safe for me or my vehicle and AAA just dropped the ball. The way he told me out of there was not exactly Street legal but I was in an unsafe area alone. I would never recommend the service to anybody and I'm looking around for another company that provides most likely better service than AAA granted them been around for decades but their policies have changed and not for the better for the consumer. read more

My husband had to reinstate his car after not driving it since March 2020 (16 months). As a AAA member we remembered that the AAA office does DMV services. He went in (on Monday at 11AM). No line and was in and out in less than 5 mins! He was very happy with their service. read more

This location has the benefit of having a DMV station inside of it so you can take care of minor DMV business here without having to go to the DMV, which is certainly nice. The downsides are primarily that nobody returns phone calls. It doesn't matter who you call or what the purpose of the call is, you will not be getting a call back. No follow-up whatsoever to anything, ever. If you aren't standing in front of somebody it ain't gonna happen. read more

This is my review update #2. So now I can no longer see Art's comment on the review. Here's the history: first it starts with a bad visit to AAA Monterey prompting the original review, next AAA customer service guy reads my review, makes a comment which asks me to contact them with more info so they can follow up with me - seems like they care at this point. I do so. A week goes by nothing happens so I post my first review update number as I am disappointed that no one has contacted me as was suggested by Art's comment. Another week or so goes by still no contact from them so I log in to Yelp and discover that their customer service guy, Art, has deleted his comment asking me to contact someone. Seems very dishonest/deceptive to post something like that then remove it...And here we are with my second review update. Art why did you remove your comment asking me to contact customer service? Art why has no one contacted me? The image below is the closest I could do for a proof of life of Art's comment. It is the the email I received from yelp saying that Art had commented on my review - unfortunately this web page was not on the internet archive or I would have provided a snap shot of his comment. Service is substandard for AAA location. Bad customer service. I was visiting the area to go to the aquarium. I confirmed ahead of time they had discounted tickets. There was a short line with two employees helping the members. I noticed that the employee was very friendly with the prior member. When it was my turn, I did not get a greeting, employee stared at me with a frown. She was a middle age caucasian woman. I walked to the counter and ordered two adult and one teenager tickets. She began clicking her mouse furiously for an extended period of time. Then she asked me again for my order. More clicking. Then she asked me again for my order. More clicking. I cannot believe I pay dues for this kind of deliberate rude hostile service. Strange. I have visited AAA locations that had lower Yelp ratings but I received better service. read more

I have been doing battle with the Irish driving authorities--who do not allow license exchange with the US--for a long time. AAA helped me understand and acquire an International driving permit in under an hour. Ireland has a complicated bureaucracy so not yet a sure thing, but I am hopeful that with the help of AAA, I will be able to drive legally in Ireland. read more

We have been dealing with COVID-19 for over a year now, but you wouldn't be able to tell from the way these guys run their operation. During this pandemic instead of helping the people who pay their membership dues, AAA decided the best course of action would be to lay off a couple employees leaving this location with a whopping total of 2 full time staff which results in an hour and half long wait time whenever you come in. Shame on AAA for not caring about their customers and trying to cut corners at its member's expense. Disgusting. read more

I went in to AAA today to switch the plates on my new car, from standard plates to personalized plates that I had from my old car. I arrived at 5:20 after taking the old plates off of my car in the parking lot. When I went inside I was told that they close at 6:00, and it would take longer than that to help the 5 or 6 people that were waiting. It was a Friday and was told to come back on Tuesday. I then had to go back to the parking lot and put the plates back on the car. Every business that I have worked in during my lifetime helps all customers as long as they make it in the door by closing. I don't understand why AAA would be any different. read more

Extremely long lines still prevail at this Monterey, CA location. I was there early this morning and there were over a dozen people waiting in line for DMV services. No matter what time of day it is there are really long wait times. There are two customer service reps working the DMV counter and only one during lunch which is also a busy time. So two hours in the middle of the day they are short on coverage and AAA members wait up to an hour in line. There is plenty of counter space to add a third station to assist AAA members which would add value and cut down on the long lines. Currently, this space about four feet in length and as wide as the space hosting the other two stations, sits between the other two computers and is serving no useful purpose other than to display a small brochure holder. My suggestion to AAA management is to up your game and once and for all tend to the long lines. After all, your a dues paying membership organization supposedly driven by customer service. Add another computer and do what you have to do to adequately and efficiently keep up. read more

I just recently cancelled my Geico insurance of 16 years back to AAA. I did this in the convenient Monterey office. It was hassle free, everything I needed and did not need was explained to me very well. The new policy a few dollars more a year over Geico with much better coverage. It is good. Plus you can take care of many DMV items in their office as well. read more

I went in to renew my vehicle registration. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and directed to the window at the counter where I was helped by the woman who greeted me. I was in and out of there in under fifteen minutes. The woman who helped me was very pleasant and efficient. I will not be going to the DMV again to renew my registration. I will always use AAA. read more

Locked my key in my car again after hitting up the OBGYN the other day and thought there has to be a better way than calling AAA and braking into my car which is merely impossible due to the computerized anti-theft system that came with my 2002 coche. I've tried breaking in before with the help of a locksmith but it usually takes over 2 hours and my alarm goes off like no other and I really didn't feel like disturbing the peace this lovely Friday afternoon. So I googled on my droid "how to break into a lexus" and I found a brilliant answer... Get a key made... well duh you think but my gosh darn card doesn't just take any key... again it is computerized and so to "copy" it would take a few days and over $500 no joke so I kept reading and realized I could get one made by the dealer that would just get me into the car and not start my engine. Perfect. I saw that my keys were in my straw clutch I just picked up on the Big Island a couple weeks back... yeah in my car. Not lovely. So I visited lovely AAA instead of hitting up the DMV because it's the smart thing to do and within minutes I was able to get a duplicate of my car registration... yeah it sucked a big one that it cost $18 for a piece of paper but I deserved it that day and was very happy to pay the $18. Service is always friendly and with a smile here so it just made the transaction even smoother. I noticed that there will be a $4 fee starting September 2011 on any DMV transactions and I say, " Why not $5?"... I'd be happy to pay $5 to avoid an hour or 2 wait at our nearby DMV wouldn't you? Just a friendly heads up on the fee for DMV related transactions in the near future! read more

This is a good office run by professional staff. They have the full range of travel services, as well as most DMV services. While they don't have the travel store that other locations do, this is still a good place for taking care of all sorts of needs, including reduced-price tickets for local and regional attractions, like the Aquarium and Disneyland. AAA (in general, not this office) saved my bacon when we moved here and needed a motel at midnight. Motel offices are closed, but a phone call to AAA got us a reservation anyway. We needed AAA services when we were traveling and the car battery died. They took care of us, with a charge and (the next day, after weighing the options) a new battery. Recommended. read more

Got a flat on my trailer on my way to the Marina Dump and was stuck on Highway 1. My Father and I waited for about an hour before a guy from Salinas shows up to fix our trailer, and he tells us we aren't covered, which is fine (not really, that sucks, but whatever). Then he proceeds to tell us that since he came all the way from Salinas that he had to charge us $150 out of pocket! He gets a 3 stars because even though he fludged up getting the tire off and putting the new tires on, he still did his job. read more

A month ago I decided to open a Yelp account just to voice my opinion an employee that helped me at the AAA office in Monterey. My experience at that time was horrible. I left the AAA office thinking my issue had been taking care off I should off know by the customer service I received the this employee didn't care to do her job and help me. It took 1 hole month for me to realize she had felt on doing what she had cynically said in my face she was going too. when I got notify the issue was not resolved I when back to the AAA office this time almost in tears and meet the most amazing person I have come a cross in my life she was understanding, sympathetic with my problem and kind, respectful and happy to be working for AAA Ruby made a huge difference in my day and life just by been kind and wanting to help me if it wasn't for Rocio Ruby Mireles I would not been able to keep my vehicle the world needs more people like Ruby thank you for the coffee.
