Huge AAA building with a DMV office, travel agency, and large store for trip-centric supplies. They no longer offer currency exchange but you can do it for free at Chase or Wells Fargo banks. The building itself is super clean and welcoming. Lots of parking inn a dedicated lot but it can be tricky to get in and out with the other businesses in the area. Everyone I've talked to has been very nice, even in the DPS area. If you go earlier on a week day it's not too bad but it can get crazy on weekends. The store always has sales on luggage if you're in the market. I haven't used a travel agency before, but I've heard good things about theirs. read more

AAA SLP is a sneaky fave for me because it's the best DMV I've been to. I needed to update my drivers license with my new address, so I filled out the paperwork I could before I went and gathered my needed documents from the list they provided. It took me less than 5 min at the counter and I had a nice conversation with the clerk about a quinceañera she was going to later in the week. The parking lot is huge and you can get a good grasp on how long it might take you when you park based on how many cars are there. I went at 9 am on a Saturday and 8:15 or so on a Monday. Both times I waited maybe half an hour, but the first time I forgot my paperwork. Don't do that. The lobby is heated if you get there before they've opened (it's winter as I write this). Once you enter the building, there's a travel store directly to the left, then an information desk, THEN the entrance to the DMV. When you enter the dmv, you need to take a ticket with a number on it. You sit in the chairs until they call your number (make sure you're listening) and then you're up! The only thing I didn't love about this DMV is that we couldn't make appointments, but they were so quick that it didn't really matter. They informed me that my membership had lapsed a couple weeks ago due to nonpayment. My wife was a victim of ID theft two months earlier at our credit union. I updated all of our monthly auto payments, but missed AAA which was annual. They told me that they would need to speak with my wife (primary on the account), who was not with me and unavailable. My AAA card was issued in my name; why can't I pay the bill?? Are there scammers paying other people's bills? Hook me up with them; I will volunteer to be their victim. Also, there is a $50 fee for same day membership reinstatement. From this year forward, I will be Happy Motoring WITHOUT AAA. read more

I came here to renew my license. It's pretty awesome that we can do that at the SLP DMV. Very convenient! Some good-to-knows: 1.) They are no longer requiring/accepting appointments. It's now all first come, first served. 2.) There's no point in showing up early/before opening. It's pretty shocking how many of the folks who arrived later were willing to physically push the people who had arrived earlier out of the way to get through the doors first. This is 100% not the fault of the business, but I absolutely would not have come early had I known that would happen, which leads me to 3.) Luckily, this DMV location is fantastic in terms of organization and getting through the line. They're efficient, friendly, and helpful. read more

Ive been a member of AAA since 2015 and have had an awful experience recently. My tow driver (Antwan) from AAA fleet wasn't able to tow my car so he left my door unlocked and placed the key under my floor mat after he agreed to put my key in my mailbox. My key was stolen from my car. Ive had multiple things stolen and I'm being treated as if I haven't paid over 15k for their service over the years. ive escalated my issue and nobody seems to have a clue on how to resolve this. read more

My son's car broke down in Savage, MN on 10/26/2024. Contacted main number on my AAA card around 12:30 PM and spoke with an agent who indicated our request was rated Critical due to our location. She indicated it could take 90 minutes, but said realistically it would be closer to 20-40 minutes. Over 90 minutes go by, and I only had 2 text messages indicating higher than normal volume. I call back the main number, and am told the initial request was never placed. As I speak with the new agent, I learn that because I'm not in Hennepin County with the vehicle, I need to be transferred to a different queue. I get on the line with a rep who explains they are contacting a new towing company. A truck shows up to my location right after disconnecting, but doesn't stop and drives away. Another call to AAA and transferred to dispatch who says driver was having difficulty locating us. I said there was just a truck here that drove away. Another call to AAA saying it would be another hour after waiting 3+ hrs already. A truck shows up in minutes to help with a jump on my vehicle which had a dead battery from waiting and needs a jump, and my son's car still needing a tow. Tow driver says he was dispatched for a jump only and was at the ready 2 MINUTES AWAY! Tow driver says he'll wait while again we contact AAA. As I wait to connect to an agent again, driver gets a dispatch for the tow. 5 hours I waited for service from a tow company I could have walked to from my location! This was an absolute fiasco of an experience! Thank goodness it was not an emergency. Tow driver even indicated they had not been dispatched prior to getting the request minutes before showing up. MSP is a 7 county metro area and should not require out state assistance if outside of Hennepin County. Or, it needs to be clearer on the card where/who to call, and transfers made seamlessly. Thankfully we don't pay for our membership as it is gifted to my wife and I. Horrible experience altogether from customer service. read more

We have been with AAA 20 years and were happy with them until our rece incident. My husband got stranded along a busy highway on a week night in the city. AAA took 2.5 hours to decide which district he was in and to get to him. I've called AAA several times to complain and every time they said they will have a manager call me back, it never happened. I'm done with them and am now with my insurance company who has roadside assistance and they're amazing. read more

I love doing almost if my DMV stuff here. With Covid it's super hard to get in to other dmv. You are able to come in as a walk in for this location. Recommend being there be for 11am and they are usually able to get you in. You do not have to be a AAA member to use there DMV. They take your name and number and call you to come back closer to when it's your turn. You can also reserve an appointment a few weeks out online. read more

Well... it's been 12 hours since I first called for roadside assistance, I was first given a timeframe 5 hours out from when I first called. 3 hours after that timeframe, I called again and they said 2 more hours MAX before they would have a tow truck out. 3 hours later, an hour past their furthest deadline, I called yet again and was told they still didn't have a driver. An hour later, I called again and now it's being escalated to the service manager. They couldn't transfer my call to their manager‍ They couldn't say if I would get a call back any time soon, if at all.... what?? They now offered to reimburse me if I want to call a towing company myself. That's what really frustrated me... seriously... WHAT?? they want me to find a tow truck 12 hours later... so unprofessional. They need to have a system of contacting clients when there are unforeseen delays. Now I'm responsible for finding a towing company myself which will probably take several hours, send AAA an invoice and wait to be reimbursed. What a freaking joke. I'm really starting to question the value of having a AAA Membership. read more

Ours said our membership had expired, after processing our, request, and transferred us to membership, she said everything was fine, transferred us back to roadside assistance, went through the process again. AAA refused to provide services to my fiance in my car with our 6 month old baby in 95 degrees Fahrenheit because he did not have his own membership number. Then they proceeded to give us a $500 estimate for the 40 mile tow when my mileage covered is 200 miles. And you know the tow company that would end up providing the service would never see anywhere near that $500. Why am I paying for this service again? I have been an AAA member for many years but my experience there recently was so positive that I was inspired to write a review. My wife and I needed to renew our passports and of course needed appropriate pictures. I called AAA and they confirmed that they take these. Furthermore no appointment was required and the cost was included as part of my annual dues. The service is offered in their Travel Store in their St Louis Headquarters. The ladies that work there were incredibly cheerful and helpful. In addition to pictures they gave us printed copies of the State Department application forms and instructions and lots of advice. We were in and out very quickly. I have also used their services to jump start my cars on numerous occasions and once to provide a tow. I have always received quick and courteous service although some reviewers appear to have had issues. There is also a DMV office in the building which is convenient as there is plenty of parking. On my recent visit there for passport photos there was a sign indicating that the DMV was fully booked for the day so visits may require some advanced planning. All in all I find my membership well worth the modest yearly fee. read more

I've gone to this particular location before for licensing-related issues (pay tabs, transfer title, etc.), and I went again last Saturday, February 3. it's really no different than going into a standalone driver's license bureau. You go in, take a ticket corresponding with whatever you need to have done, you take a seat and wait until your number is called. Depending upon how many people are ahead of you, it can be a fairly quick process or a slow drag. Unfortunately, when I went last Saturday, it was crowded, and the wait was slow. The person servicing me was friendly enough, though, and completed my transaction with no fuss and muss. I think that being located within the AAA store is a bonus just in case one needs to renew their membership or buy travel items. I will definitely go here again in the near future for all things DMV. read more

I don't post reviews often, but we had such a poor experience I felt compelled to post. My husband is legally blind, we have trouble getting to AAA during the work week due to schedules. We got to AAA about 20 minutes before closing, waited in line while a few customers were being helped. When we let the clerk know we needed to get my husband's passport photo taken, the very rude older woman clerk let us know they stopped taking instant photos 15 min before closing- 5 minutes prior when we were waiting in line. If the store is open until 1:00 pm they should be servicing customers waiting in line until 1:00 pm. We won't ever be back! read more

My AAA membership saved my life and my daughter's and this entire office location staff in the 17 years I have come here are OUTSTANDING. Their retail travel items store has REMARKABLE items like disposable plane seat covers -- essential for flights to China, RFD protective pouches wallets etc to PROTECT YOUR CREDIT CARDS from being illegally electronically "swiped" in airports ( happened to us in Fort Meyer's). Etc. Trip ticks 2 weeks before a major drive are essential for they show you all the ROAD CONSTRUCTION ZONES, and can steer you around these bottleneck areas most times. I find their old fashioned motel/hotel booklets a HUGE aid for FAST searching ESP last minute for affordable well rated clean safe and dog friendly lodging -- ESP if you are driving in an area with poor phone signals or in an emergency. The trip Tik booklet is incredible easy to read for even a 10-year-old. The most IMPORTANT note is AAA saved my life 2 years ago (when my keys got stuck in the trunk of my rental for 5 hours at night in a dangerous neighborhood of Pelham/Bronx NY. Even POLICE CAN NOT OPEN THE TRUNKS OF NEW CARS --rentals ESP-- if your keys are in the trunk‼‼) and my daughter's life last July as she drove my dad's old Honda from San Diego to Minneapolis through 117 degree heat that melts roads and flash floods in Monument Valley AZ and Colorado. I called AAA in Arizona on the morning she started driving through the Nevada desserts. They gave me the exact location of all gas stations ( FEW) through the 500 miles of monument valley dessert she would have to drive through . They also warned me intense rain storms were forecasted for those days of her travel. If it started raining she MUST STOP because of extreme danger in that entire area from flash floods ( poor visibility you can't see gullies/ drops in the road where walls of water can come rushing). And IF she got caught in a flash flood ... they would not be able to reach her in the middle of this huge dessert. There was a huge storm behind her and she and her girl friend drove 90 mph through Monument Valley without stopping ( except for gas) and made it safely to Utah. AAA in Colorado told me she should not take the short cut roads through the middle of the state to Denver because of the intense rain storms which would WASH OUT MANY ROADS -- some of which were dirt! So she stayed west went north to the interstate safely. WHEW! Thank God we had AAA (40 years in 3 states). read more

It is the main building for AAA for the area and there is the license center open all and shorter waiting times than the local county agencies. The big draw here is the large retail store with a high quality selection of luggage and many other travel items that you probably never thought you would need. Books, maps, (yes there are still paper maps and Atlases). As an extra bonus they will take your passport photos and provide information about airline travel and guide you to a gadget to make life easier and is TSA approved. If you are a AAA member there is a discount and travel books and state maps are no charge at the front desk. read more

10 year Premier member, had a car issue the required a tow. AAA mpls arranged the tow with Kellys Towing. My vehicle was damaged during the tow (to the tune of $5000). Neither AAA nir Their selected tow truck operator would accept responsibility for the damage that occurred while the car was in their possession regardless of the fact that the tow driver acknowledged that the vehicle was not damaged when he picked it up. Adding insult yo injury AAA leadership would not even return my repeated calls. Remember this when youre considering whether thats the kind of company you want providing you roadside service protection. read more

You know on my Saturday morning todo list. Well it was jammed and the wait was @ 2 hours or more. I looked at my daughter and said we are going to try something different and we headed to AAA office in St Louis Park. Walked into the St Louis Park Office and we walked right up and received our tabs and were out of there in 6 minutes!!! My wife and I had to renew our license, so we went to the AAA/DMV store up on 100 and Excelsior. The place was packed, but it only took us about 30 minutes to get both of our licenses renewed. They have a very efficient number system, with an electronic voice that counts the numbers out to the weary public. You can peruse the travel store behind the waiting area if you wish. There are tons of luggage displays, but my wife and I are going to New York in a few months and really enjoyed all of the Manhattan travel books and fold out maps. We were finally called and the lady helping us out couldn't be nicer and more efficient. I think it took us about 8 minutes total to take our information and take both our eye tests and take our picture. I think I have been here 3 times in the last 15 years and every time they impress me! If you have to go through Hell, at least they fan you while going down the escalator. read more

My car was towed by AAA and brought to a BMW dealership around 10pm while they were closed the following morning I went to the dealership but they said it would take 2 weeks to look at my car. So i had AAA tow my car to another BMW dealership that could fix my belt within 48 hours. The dealership inspected the car and told me everything was good just an old belt was the damage. Once it was turned on they had realized my AWD system got damaged and when I asked how can that happen they said they only see it when the vehicle is towed improperly and asked me to contact my insurance which is AAA. After dealing with AAA for a week without a car the dealership told me they would start charging $50 a day for my car sitting there waiting on an answer from AAA. A few hours later after closing AAA called me to tell me they will not fix it. That isn't a coincidence at all they are saying they wont take the loss because they don't know which tow truck damaged the car and both companies involved are denying they caused damage. Even though I was told by the dealership this damage is only cause by misuse of towing unless the car has been in an accident which it wasn't. My car had no previous issues because i took great care of it. AAA also never gave me any reimbursment of transportation even though i have a rental agreement in my policy with them for roadside. Total damage to the vehicle is roughly $9,800 plus all the money ive been paying to friends to get me to and from work. Linda from AAA is the least helpful person who is in a managerial position working 1pm-5pm and doesn't take calls nor does she respond to emails. Conveniently enough for her the agents working near her cover for her saying she's not at her desk without even trying to call. Once she does go back to her desk no answers or anything her position need to be looked at because she's obviously not doing anything of importance. One of the worst places to go for a tow or any customer service. STAY AWAY FROM AAA. DESERVES NEGATIVE STARS. read more

Went into AAA for travel (Trip Tik) info for on upcoming road trip to Estes Park. Agent was very knowledgeable with our destination. We also needed help finding hotels that accepted dogs, as we're traveling with our lab. She knew just where to go. The AAA membership certainly has its perks.
