Don't let the low prices fool you. They'll tell you that you need tires when you don't, they'll tell you that your battery needs replacing when it really doesn't. I took my car to the dealership for a free second opinion and the tech nixed everything the repair person at AAA said I needed. Shame on them for trying to take advantage of a senior citizen woman. read more

Employee extremely rude, told me I'd HAVE to "go to a collision repair place", and then simply walked away.

By a different national franchise that primarily sells tires while there for a free tire rotation I was told I needed new front brakes at a cost of $805 and they could do the job right then. I scheduled the appointment for the next day and drove to the Carmichael AAA. They agreed I needed new front brakes and like the other business told me I was in approximately 2 months of also needing rear brakes. The cost for front only would be $560 and for all 4 wheels $980. Cancelled the other appointment and got one at AAA Carmichael where the 4 brakes were replaced at the $980 estimate as well as a low beam headlight was replaced with no charge. The front counter guy Alex was super helpful and facilitated the whole transaction. My savings was over $600 by driving 5 miles. Like the tires at one business but for car servicing I'm glad I made the drive and got a second opinion. Thanks Carmichael AAA. read more

Nice enough, but I feel like I was grossly over charged, and they didn't do any of the scheduled maintenance items on the list they sent to me, they must have been trying to get more $$ out of me hoping I'd ask them to do everything on the list. Convenient, nearby. I was sort of a "captive audience" because my car died on the road while driving and I had to call AAA for a tow, and this shop was a quick easy option. Insane prices, and now after reading these reviews I need to worry that the repair was done correctly. Maybe I don't live in the "real world", I've always been a penny pinching bargain hunter so maybe I'm just not realistic on regular pricing. I began using AAA Auto Repair in Carmichael last year. Previously I'd only had my car serviced at the dealership, but decided it was time to try this repair shop because it was closer. The staff were pleasant, they answered all my questions and their prices were competitive. When they serviced my car, they did exactly what I'd requested, and in the timeframe as promised. I've now used AAA Auto Repair for other services and have found them easier to deal with than the dealership. Their work was completed in the expected timeframe and the prices are good; they also make the process pleasant. I cannot say enough about how positive my experience has been working with this repair business. I have a lifelong history of restoring cars, building hot rods and restoring antique cars and motorcycles. As such I have my guard up when allowing others to perform service on my equipment. Alex Rossi is a true asset to this business, and was very informative and helpful. I came in to have a smog check done on my motorhome and it was completed in a timely manner at a very good price. I returned the next day to have the oil change done and the service involves not only the oil change but checking everything including tire pressures on all 6 wheels. Not an easy task to get to the inner rear wheels, but this place understands how critical it is for tire pressures to be correct on a large RV. Having an issue while on the road with my family due to improper maintenance would not be acceptable I am a stickler for details. Do not attempt to use the online appointment services...apparently it's arbitrary who they will schedule for an appointment. I received an e-mail, by a service advisor named Alexander, asking me what I needed done. I e-mailed him back and repeated what I needed done that was on the form I submitted by internet. I did not receive a reply. I was driving by and I went in there to find out no appointment had been made. The young woman I was talking to said she could get me an appointment. Why bother making one in advance if they do not accept your online service request. I will take my business else where. I do not have confidence in this location if service advisors question your request for car maintenance. read more

I recently went to this location and looked to have a smog check done The worker was very nice and apologetic and said they were just opened and were not up and running to do a smog check. This was understandable (though usually one should have that in order before a grand opening ). He told me to come back the next weekend to have the service done I gave it a few weeks and returned this morning. Again , the same guy and the same excuse. I reminded him of what he told me and he totally denied it with no apology Of course , there are plenty of smog places and I will take my business elsewhere but I was very disappointed as I've gotten great service usually at AAA centers. Correction: PEOPLE to "members" Horrible, terrible non-service. Had a AAA tow truck driver who was absolutely wonderful. Sister had a low speed front end collision that damaged the grill and bumper but driver checked and saw that the fan, frame and radiator were good. Driver felt that it was the hoses or such that got disconnected. We didn't care about the grill and/or bumper right now. We just wanted the radiator working again. Called Carmichael AAA Service Center. Woman was apparently clueless and said they would have to put it on hoist to check it out. OK... Fine. We had the car towed there. Woman at the counter was a raving idiot. Came stomping out and said and I quote "THESE "members" ARE THE REASON I NEED TOMORROW OFF". WTH? We told you what the situation was before we drove over here. Then the old man from the shop who apparently doesn't understand that you have to pop the hood INSIDE the truck and then locate the latch UNDER the hood to open it, stuck his hand in there, didn't look for it, couldn't find it and then said we don't do this stuff. Excuse me? You couldn't open a hood or at the worst take a bumper and grill off? CSAA, you have pissed off three people because of the staff onsite at this shop. At least two of us, if not 3, will never, ever use you and I will be sure to let everyone I know that there are no professionals at this location. Probably what one should expect from a company that provides new battery service but doesn't tell you that they don't sell them after 5pm when you call them for it. Now if you want to talk homeowner claims, they have been wonderful. Probably two different management teams. read more

This shop diagnosed my minivan to need a new transmission. They claimed that they do not fix transmissions but only would replace it in full, a $4K or $8K repair. I had my car towed down the street to a wonderful transmission shop and they told me it was NOT my transmission but a broken axle. The repair was $300, and in 4 short hours I was driving my van again. This shop did refund my diagnostic fee in full, but I wonder how many others have paid for a transmission change that was unneeded? I am only giving this company one star because it will not allow me to post otherwise. read more

Alex and Maya were fantastic. I initially spoke with Maya when booking my appointment, but Alex helped me when I brought my car in. My wife brought her car in after mine and Maya was her point of contact. The multi-point inspection on her car pointed to some maintenance. Been with AAA for 50 years now and after my experience at one of their auto shops, I think I just might quit them and move on. Dropped my truck off at 8:30 so they could look at it at early. Went back at 11 to check progress and my vehicle not touched. Ok no problem right? Went back at 4pm and in my opinion the snippity receptionist there lied to me about the progress of my truck. She asked me if I wanted to take it now supposedly in the middle of the diagnosis right? I said no. I'll be back when you close at 5:30. Drove off and not two minutes later, she calls me and says they will not have time to work on it now. This place is full of baloney. I definitely did not feel comfortable there. I did not feel I was treated honestly and I do not feel like they have their crap together. Instead of me wasting my day off not getting my truck fixed she could have said come in tomorrow or? Wasted my time and be careful they will waste yours. It's obvious they lie to the customers to cover their mismanagement. And because of that deserving customers like me pay the price with our time and have to deal with high anxiety created by this weak business. read more
