Several months ago, I found a husky mix on the street. As an experienced husky owner, I named her…read moreSky and decided to bring her into the family. However, I realized almost immediately that she had some serious behavioral issues--specifically intense leash aggression and barking--that I simply wasn't equipped to handle alone. After researching local options, I gave Bill at Sierra K9 a call. It was clear right away that he has a genuine passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my specific goals: I needed Sky to truly become part of my "pack" and be well-behaved enough to join me at breweries, and events. Bill outlined his methods and experience in great detail, and we sat down to map out exactly what it would take to get her there. I opted for the two-week intensive Board-and-Train program. Bill made it clear that the training wouldn't end when I picked her up; he committed to meeting with me for as long as it took for me to feel confident. Throughout those two weeks, Bill and his wife, Shelby, sent regular progress reports, photos, and videos. Seeing her thrive gave me so much peace of mind--it was obvious she was making strides and was incredibly well cared for. On pickup day, Bill and I had a thorough hand-off session. While I was impressed with Sky's progress, Bill was honest with me: the foundation was there, but the real work was just beginning for both of us. When we got back home, I'll admit I struggled. The leash reactivity and pulling returned, and I felt completely hopeless. But Bill and Shelby didn't leave me hanging. They checked in daily, "talked me off the ledge" more than once, and quickly scheduled an in-person session at my house. When Bill arrived, he could tell I was frustrated. He calmly reminded me of the process and took Sky's leash; she immediately "snapped back into shape"--no pulling, no barking, just focus. He carefully observed my handling, gave me manageable homework, and, most importantly, helped me reframe my mindset. He taught me that training isn't a chore; it's an exercise in patience and a form of therapy for both the owner and the dog. Fast forward one month: I've been working with Sky every day and meeting with Bill weekly (and he is always perfectly on time). The transformation is night and day. While she's still a little better on the leash with him than with me (haha!), she is truly a different dog. I know now that with time and Bill's continued guidance, Sky is going to fit in perfectly. I'm actually enjoying the work, we celebrate the wins together, and I am sincerely grateful to the Sierra K9 team.

I had an incredibly positive experience with Sierra K9. I was dealing with a really stressful…read moresituation where my dogs were constantly fighting, and I honestly wasn't sure if they could ever safely live together again. Bill was patient, knowledgeable, and very understanding of how overwhelming it felt. Bill took the time to assess each dog's behavior and explained everything in a way that made sense. The training methods were clear, consistent, and focused on building trust rather than fear. Over time, I started to see real progress, not just in my dogs' behavior, but in my own confidence handling them. Thanks to Bill's guidance, my dogs are now able to coexist peacefully, and the atmosphere at home is so much calmer. I'm truly grateful for his help and would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with similar issues.

We rescued a wild and rambunctious husky/shepherd mix named Amber that was about a year old,…read moreaccording to the pet shelter. Although both of us have had dogs before, we didn't think things through, and the new dog quickly turned our life upside down. The biggest problem was that she was chasing our cats everywhere around the house and had terrible manners. We were worried that we would have to return her to the shelter if she couldn't cohabitate with our 4 cats. I scoured reviews on Google and Yelp and came across Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions. I reached out and Blair was willing to hop on a call right away. He patiently listened and answered several questions, then explained he offers two programs; a month board and train or virtual training with Zoom session checkpoints. Although it was an investment, we opted for the board and train for Amber. At the same time, we did the virtual training for our other dog Ginger, a golden retriever. While Blair worked one on one with Amber at his house, we went through the online modules in the virtual program. The program is very detailed, including videos and narratives for each section. Blair was readily available for any questions or concerns we had along the way. The program does use an e-collar and we were initially apprehensive, but once we understood this was simply a tool to get our dog's attention and tried it on ourselves, it was not an issue. Like most programs, you get out what you put in. We did the work, learned a ton from Blair, and made a friend for life, but most importantly, Amber came back behaving like a different dog and the training worked! She is still a sweetheart, but now listens and behaves well. Blair has taught us how to communicate, correct, and redirect our dogs when needed. The transfer training sets Blair and Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions apart from the rest. We couldn't have done it without Blair and highly recommend his training. Jenn & Astin

I was referred to Blair's Primal Needs Behavioral Solutions Virtual Guide Program and purchased it…read morefor $1,249. I appreciated the clear upfront pricing on the website, and Blair himself reached out to me the same day. You'll need a few extra tools (kennel, e-collar, retractable leash, etc.), and Blair provided a full list with direct Amazon links to the best pricing, which made things simple. I shared my goals and my dog's starting point with Blair--my 2-year-old Husky mix (male) loved to jump and pull on the leash. The program is self-paced with pre-recorded videos, required reading, and Zoom sessions with Blair to review progress. The program foundation is a daily schedule. The schedule can be modified to fit your day to day routine like for people who work M-F. I'll admit--I was originally against e-collars. I thought they were cruel. Blair took the time to educate me, and I even tried the collar on myself first. It's not torture--it's a communication tool, and when used correctly it makes all the difference. Blair is incredibly responsive. I would apply what I learned, record myself working with my dog, and send him the video. His feedback and corrections were always constructive and on point. The biggest takeaway: learning how to correct your dog correctly. Once you understand that, you can teach your dog just about anything. Results? My dog no longer jumps or pulls on the leash, and as a bonus, he'll stay in place while I eat meals! If you're dealing with behavioral issues, it's often just a breakdown in communication--and Blair teaches you exactly how to fix that. Plus, his videos are entertaining and humorous. I highly recommend this program. If you take it seriously and commit, it truly works.

I've regretted that and this…read moretime around, I decided I would do some kind of real training, for both myself and my new dog (Husky/German Shepard mix, rescue from SSPCA). I found Nick (ConsistentK9) online. He had a lot of experience and great reviews so I thought, let's do this! I signed up for the 10 week program. Wow am I glad I did! Nick is a natural with dogs and makes it all look so easy, and with Mika being a high energy, smart, pushy pup, I thought Nick had his work cut out for him. Not for Nick. She loved him and responded well to him. Just as important, Nick is also great with people and communicates very well, helping you learn and understand what you're doing (or not doing) without rubbing you the wrong way. He's great to work with and a real pleasure to learn from. The techniques and methods I learned from Nick are priceless! My program was not only about training Mika, but also me. The skills Nick taught me I will continue to use as I work with Mika over the next few months and years. I highly recommend Nick and Consistent K9!!

Going to Nick for training was one of the best decisions we've made so far with her. From day one he was focused on getting to know Roxy's personality, and helped us understand the most important job we had with our dog in specific was working on her confidence - not something we expected to learn going into puppy training, but it has made all the difference with her! Even more so than training her, Nick was training us on how to interact with our dog to give her her happiest and most confident (and of course obedient) self; he really helped give us the tools we needed to be set up for success and showed us how to work with her, and was up front about the fact that we needed to work on how we act more than anything else to see results with our pup. Roxy still has a long way to go but she has come SO far with Nick's help, and we fully intend on doing more training with him in the future to continue learning how best to work with our high energy, playful, lovely dog who has a short attention span, but loves to work and learn new things! We couldn't recommend Nick enough, he truly cares about each dog he works with and is an awesome person on top of all of that, which makes working with him super easy.
