Here is my breakdown of my experience with The Metropolis Ballroom: Planner Extraordinaire - Lauren Lauren is a very friendly and professional Planner. She is very organized and open when getting in contact with her. She gave us the feeling that everything would be taken care of which it was. She helped us go through the steps also helped us organize on how the procession would occur during our special day. Due to some circumstances, she was unable to see the culmination of her work with us but she made sure we were taken care of for the big day. Venue The Metropolis Ballroom venue makes up the whole 2nd floor of the building. They have elevator access to the 2nd floor. There is a bridal suite which as access to the balcony. There is an axillary room across the bridal suite which the cocktail hour is help. There are plenty of room along with comfortable seating areas. The main reception hall has a nice open space with a high ceiling, for to which we had 12 tables and enough room for a dance floor. The balcony is also accessible from the main reception area and allows you to enjoy part of downtown Arlington Heights where a fountain is visible and if you have your wedding at a certain time, you can have an appearance of Santa Claus in in the grassy area across the way. The staff had placed some outdoor activities if we chose to go out (i.e. cornhole). they had some They also had some tables and lighting outside in case they guest would like to step out and enjoy the great weather we had during our wedding. Staff The Metropolis Ballroom has a wonderful staff that made our wedding day very special. Even though Lauren was unable to be at the wedding, we felt we were very taken care of from the whole staff. Kenny was really helpful in coordinating with everyone. He was also the go to person for the head table whenever we needed anything. The wait staff is really extraordinary. I really have to tip my hat off to all of them. Each were very friendly and also attentive. The bartender was friendly and did a great job keeping the party going. Everyone made us feel welcomed. The kitchen did a wonderful job with the food for our wedding. I even had a lot of people comment on how they really enjoyed the food. To me, the preparation and taste was perfect. We had some people who had some dietary issues which they did accommodated for. The kids seem to really enjoy the food that they got, even giving some of the adults at their table jealous. Food You do have different options on how to proceed with how the food come out. We choose to have each person have a plated service compared to a buffet style reception. I am going to bring some highlights of the food we got. Roasted tomato soup chaser - a very well done soup accompanied with a mini grilled cheese. Chicken breast Champagne - recommended as one of the more popular dishes and there is a reason why. The chicken is moist and accompanied with a wonderful sauce which goes with a lot of the sides. Carrot Cake - a very well done carrot cake. The cake itself is moist and the frosting was perfectly balanced. It is one of my favorite carrot cakes I have eaten. All of the other food we got were delicious also, but I am unable to go through them all due to the limit on what I can type. Overall My experience was extraordinary. To me the whole company did a wonderful job in making my wedding reception special. From the planning to the actual event was a great experience. Though I have not attended any other events at the Metropolis Ballroom, I would recommend planning there for special occasions. With the care and details they worked with us during our special day, it was a pleasure working with them.

I was excited to support the local high school's madrigal performance--they were a 5 star act--but the supporting dinner around it was not what I imagined from the Metropolis. 1st service was mulled cider and 2 people at our table were missed so my boyfriend had to flag someone down to get the last 2 mugs filled. (The cider itself was delicious!) The tomato soup and bread course was good, although the soups were served at the same table at varying temperatures. I ordered the chicken for our party of 4 and that was pretty good. I did hear a high school student at the head table ask his parents if they could stop at Culver's on the way home because his chicken was not cooked. The dessert was pretty good, although I do not remember what it is by now. The soft drinks were grab and go cans laid out on the bar over ice. I had no problem with that choice, it was just a little unclear at first if the cans were included with our ticket or not. The coat check staff was quick and efficient. As someone who is not married yet, I had always thought about the Metropolis Ballroom as a possible venue, but after my latest experience, I would probably not consider them in the future.

The area is bright, clean and inviting, with plenty of space for adults to relax while the children explore. I love that I can see my daughter from any angle of the seating area. Solid European song selection as well, I can't even tell you how peaceful it was to not have to listen to children's music for two hours. They offer semi-private and private birthday parties and have a super cute private area to help your littles celebrate! The true magic really started when the DJ started playing around 10 pm as the entire dance floor, large screens, and venue-wide lighting created an impressive spot to party. The best part about this is really how the space was able to accommodate a quieter atmosphere on the patio, a semi-casual bar spot next to that, and then a crazy fun party room by the DJ. The patrons were super friendly and contributed to creating a great atmosphere and the bartenders were busy but able to keep up with the drink orders. Though the space was a bit crowded, this was much easier to get around than busy spots in the city and the bathroom lines weren't extremely long. The other great thing about the location is the ease with which patrons can go to other spots like Cortland's Garage, Penny Kinneane's, Mago Grill, Armand's, Big Shot Piano Bar, etc. for a change of pace for the night or to grab some food. It's also super close to the Vail Street garage for easy parking and a short walk to the Metra. The bartenders absolutely need to be more aware of whom they are serving and how much they are serving and went to cut people off. Myself as the bride should not have gone up to the bar to cut people off that was not my job and that was the only part of the whole thing that made me upset. I went here specifically for this event. They had some pizza for people to munch on while having a beer. The pizza was nothing to write home about but it was a great time to catch up w/people that I haven't seen in years. The server took my card when I came in to keep a running count of my drinks. I only had 2 beers @ $5.75/beer = $11.50. When I left I gave the server $20.00 cash & told her to keep the change. Later I looked at my credit card & saw they also ran it through & I was charged another $11.50 for the 2 Beers. I called twice to try and get this charge removed. They said they would remove the $11.50 charge but as of 10/12/26 the charge is still on my card. I'm sure this was an honest mistake but I would like this charge removed.

He said Al Capone produced bootlegged alcohol there, and that a burn mark on one of the wooden beams is actually from that time! I thought that was so interesting. He also did a mini trivia game, and the winner got one of the instructor's paintings. I won! I got a really cool painting that's now displayed on my bookshelf. I loved the overall atmosphere and how friendly everyone was at this location. My friend and I are already planning to come back to try another painting style!
