Many non-dealer shops really do inflate their jobs, then get you with finding "more" things to fix that are hard to self detect or see, especially with older cars that have lots of mileage. Renson might not be cheap, but call it fair pricing for professional work that gets done right, no hassle. While the car is being evaluated and worked on, they always give timely calls to update me if things come up. I've had our car towed to the shop for unexpected issues and they were able to turn the car around in a day. We had to take our Prius in for a smog check (why though, it's a Prius!) and I called in to to make an appointment, which was easy to do. When we arrived, they told us where to position our car, asked for the DMV paperwork, and quickly went about performing the smog check. They performed it quickly, did it for a transparent fixed price (some places charge more for certain cars, including Prius's, which seems strange), and got us on our away quickly. The price was reasonable too - about $60 all in. They pointed us to some chairs where we could sit and wait while they did the test - nothing fancy, but it's good to have an option to sit. For whatever reason, smog checks are something I kind of dread, even though it's always painless. Having a local place that can do this quickly and efficiently for a reasonable price is always worth calling out.

Somewhere along the way (covid), customer service seems to have taken a hit, you're often lucky to get what you paid for, quality can be hit-or-miss, and somehow every cash register wants a tip before you've even left the counter. I do most of my own vehicle maintenance, but A/C work is one area I leave to the professionals, only after I have messed it up on my own. After calling around Campbell, I was quoted anywhere from $100 to $210 more than what I ended up paying at Stress-Free Auto Care. The shop is clean, the staff is professional, courteous, and well-presented, and they got my truck finished quickly. What really stood out was the inspection report.
