We had an issue with water in the basement. Two guys came out to snake it - they left a muddy, sludgy mess and we paid $400. They did tell us we needed a camera to see the issue which we did not agree to. Ten minutes later water was not draining and water was coming back up. We called and they came back. They put a camera down and said we had an obstruction and a cracked pipe. They did not resnake. They estimated a $15,000 repair. We spent the evening worried and wondering what to do. Today we called in another company. They showed us the obstruction and how easy it was to clear. They cleared it and explained that the pipe was fine and that in the future we may need to fix the trap for $2,500. We called A1 back today and the man we spoke to was very annoyed and defensive. He said, "you'll pay the price one way or another. I'm done talking to you." Would not recommend. read more

Moved to Dearborn area just over six months ago and knew before buying the home that the basement had some sort of water episode that soaked into the carpetted area of the finished side of the basement. I asked the homeowner to have the drain snaked to be sure it was only roots. (there are several massive Oak trees on the lot!) Snaked the front drain to the road and they didn't really tell me what went on there - just that the pipes were all cleaned and fine - no broken pipes. BUT they did NOT snake the drain in the back of the house, where i later found out is WHERE THE WATER BACKS UP. I wasn't living in the house so it wasn't my call to the plumber - but damn it if a plumber shouldn't be snaking all the drains that could be the issue when they come out to a house!! After the first strong storm in spring, my new home's basement flooded because of the clogged drain - the main drain - the un-snaked drain. Go figure! - the pipes had collapsed. Over $20,000 worth of damage to the property. Thankfully, insurance covered it all, but when the carpet was removed, the insurance men showed me evidence of prior water damage stemming from the un-snaked drain. All I can take away from this experience is that this plumber purposefully snaked only the second drain, and not the main, because they knew what was going on. Maybe the seller was the only pussy in this scenario? Or maybe they were buddies with the seller? I do know they absolutely knew they were snaking a secondary drain, and not the main drain. They also knew that I was requesting the house drains be snaked since I was concerned about the water stain on the carpet... something the seller was saying had not been wet in the 3 years he lived there. This costed me 4 months of intense remodelling and very uncomfortable living arrangements! Disclaimer: I had written this review in the spring of 2019, following my move-in in October 2018. 2023: I was trying to write a new review because I had a recent second experience with this A1 Bargain Plumbing. They came out to install a new hot water tank. I am very happy with the service. They arrived the stated appointment time, was very thorough and clear about the process from cost of new heater to parts and labor. There were nothing hidden or surprise added cost. I really appreciate and highly recommend A-1 Plumbing. On a Sunday, a faucet to my shower broke and we had to turn off the hot water valve to get it to stop. I immediately contacted my regular plumber (NOT A-1), who said he would come out the next day.. Monday came and went. I contacted them again Tuesday and was told someone would be out to fix it Wednesday.. No one called or showed up. And then on Thursday, another no-call no-show. Finally Friday morning I gave up and after lots of research decided to contact A-1. They happened to have one of their crews available and they were at my house within about an hour. Within about an hour and a half, everything was fixed and better than ever. So i had a plumber come out for a nasty sewage backup throughput my house. The 1st plumber came out and snaked unsuccessfully . The plumber did not fix the sewage problem, charged me $250 and stated i needed to dig up the front yard for $3000 just to see what the problem was. The next day Kevin at A-1 called me to check on my yelp request to make sure i had been serviced. He explained to me the errors the plumber made and i was able to get them to come back out and fix the issue for no additional cost. Disclaimer: This company did not perform work for me, this review only speaks to the initial conversation I had with one of the gentlemen. I was told my sewer line needed to be replaced, which is an important and expensive job, so I wanted to get estimates from various companies. Two other companies provide free estimates and understood when I told them quite frankly that I am getting other estimates. This company does not provide free estimates, which is fine. I told him I could tell him what I need done (based on the assessment provided free from the other companies) and get a quote from him so I can compare. In response to that idea, he had the nerve to lecture me about how wrong it is to get an estimate and not hire the other company... First, we live in a free market system where competition is simply a reality. I know this first hand because my husband does sales for a residential construction company. Everyday he spends hours providing free estimates to customers who don't make a purchase. It is a reality that we live with, BUT because his products are superior and his prices are fair, he does well enough to make up for the lost time. He knows that it is your job as a service provider to sell yourself and your work. This guy obviously isn't very confident that he can make the sale when held up against others! Either that or he would prefer a stupid customer who will take the first quote provided. Sorry, that's not going to be me. Second, spare me from your boring moral soap box. Please tell me that half of the real post are deleted I contacted A1 plumbing at 1030 AM today for a simple snake of my main line for a true plumber no more then a 30 minute job if meant to be the phone call to A1 plumbing told me I would be contacted by a contractor within 30 minutes 3 hours later he calls me and states he would be there in 15 minutes 5 pm he shows up can even Rome the lid to the clean out I had to do it which I am a contractor and injured unable to work then charges me 80 dollars to show up and had nerve to charge a after hour fee on top of that wanted over 900 dollars to snake a simple drain.people just cause you hear them on the radio doesn't mean anything they are sharks amongst people who can't under stand the crap they are feeding you and people all these fake 5 star comments can not be true from my personal experience I will never recommend and never call again and I suggest you do the same unless you like paying 7 to 8 hundred over for simple plumbing 0 stars and I hope you people read this before hand calling them read more
