I was very pleased with the alterations to my daughter's wedding dress! Professional work that is reasonably priced!

Took my daughter's prom dress to have it altered at the v to have it shortened and the arms taken up and the length of the dress shortened. Came to pick it up and the dress was basically ruined. The split was sewed up and v was completely gone the dress was too tight and the length was still too long. The lady refused to refund any of the $190 and said she did not care if we were happy or not that she had plenty of business. Do not use these people!!!! read more

PLEASE LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE!!!! I rarely write negative reviews but I'm hopeful this will save someone the heartache and expenses my daughter and I have just had to endure!!! A1 came recommended to us for alterations for my daughters prom and pageant dresses. After the initial visit, my daughter explained that she wanted her pageant dress hemmed up (material saved) so that if the dress was resold to someone, they could let the hem out if needed. We went to pick up the dresses (paid $207.98 in alteration fees) and both dresses were not altered properly!! (Prom alterations requested were not done and the pageant dress was CUT too short, which was acknowledged by the staff.) Her toes are on full display!!! They ensured us they could add length so we left the dresses in their care for corrections. Upon the next pickup, the prom dress was corrected but the pageant dress was the exact same length as before, too short!! (Toes still shining- Also acknowledged by the staff). This was on Friday afternoon. (Pageant is 7 days away!) I immediately start trying to come up with another option and contact A Perfect Dress to see if a replacement could arrive on time (they were WONDERFUL by the way!) I explained to them what has happened and sent pictures and they stated that A1 should have insurance to cover the cost of a replacement dress because the dress is not suitable for stage being cut that short now! They said if they order the dress that day (Friday) it would arrive on Thursday, get altered (by someone else) on Friday and be ready to be worn on stage Saturday!! (We're cutting it close!!!) A1 said they did NOT have insurance and so I proceeded to ask them to pay for a replacement dress. ($694.43 to be exact). They explained that they could fix the dress and have it ready tomorrow and could take an inch from the waist or train area. I tried to explain that we no longer had time PLUS their suggestions to add length could potentially alter the look/fit of the entire dress and then we would not have a dress at all!! They completely disregarded the time crunch that we were under with A Perfect Dress saying the dress needed to be ordered that day in order to arrive and be re-altered in time. I even explained, if I had the time, I'd absolutely let them try but we didn't have any more time to risk at this point. They continued to refuse to pay. I had to leave there and head straight to A Perfect Dress to get a replacement dress ordered so we'd have something for the pageant. I contacted an attorney and they suggested I put my request in writing and if they didn't pay at that point, we could proceed with legal actions. I dropped my written request off on Saturday and since then, silence... they haven't contacted me or A Perfect Dress, to pay for replacement dress. They haven't offered to reimburse me the alteration fee. My current out of pocket expense for ONE DRESS is now $694.43 + $694.43 (2 dresses exactly the same) + $84 in shipping fees to get the 2nd dress here in time + $207.98 (alteration fees) =$1680.84!!!! All I originally asked them to do is pay the replacement dress fee due to THEIR ERROR in cutting the dress! We are so heartbroken that a business would not stand behind their work and fix their mistake. We've written a letter to A Perfect Dress also explaining this situation and requesting that they remove A1 Alterations from their recommended list. (They were also shocked and told them they needed to make it right.) I would NEVER trust them with something so expensive again!! Please learn from our mistake and save yourself the potential heartache and unnecessary expenses that we've had to experience!! read more

My friend and I took our bridesmaids dresses here to get fitted and altered. My dress went from too big in the bust to a 1.5" gap; my friend was told she had gained weight. She created straps (for our originally strapless dresses) from excess material that were sewn on very poorly. I took mine to Alterations by Teresa who fixed both the bust and the straps beautifully! read more

I never post anything like this, but I'm extremely mad. I have gone to A1 Alterations for years and NEVER had any problems. This is my $300 prom dress that I am now having to get dry-cleaned (5 days before prom) on our own dime. When we went to drop my dress off two weeks ago the owner was extremely rude and rushed my alterations. Today I went to pick up my dress and came back to a dress that barely stays zipped, uneven tule, and STAINS. She did not take responsibility for it, saying she never did anything to my dress. She said I brought it to her that way, which FYI I did not. I would take responsibility for something like this. Anyways, now I'm left hoping we can get my dress stain free by prom Saturday. I'm not saying don't go there, I'm just saying if you like rude and rushed services, that stain your dress and don't offer a refund after spending $130 for this, then maybe you'll like this place. I promise the stains are WAY worse than they look in the pictures. I didn't have good lighting. read more

Do not go here if you want to be treated like a normal good paying customer. The seamstress husband is rude and sociably unacceptable . He told me I was wrong about pick up date after I requested the date. Then refused to do my sons jacket after they had the jacket for three weeks. He told me this five days before my sons event . So if you want your items when you need them and need them altered please seek services elsewhere. Their prices are also in-line with NYC prices instead of rural Rome Georgia 65.00 for two darts in the back of a men's jacket. Good luck! read more

The owners are very up on current alteration trends and clothing styles. I've taken several pants to them and they always do a great job. Prices are in line for what I would expect to pay for quality work. They're always willing to listen and help when I have questions. read more

A1 is a family owned business and the owners are very sweet people. They did an absolutely fantastic job on my wedding dress. It was a difficult alteration, but they got creative and did a perfect job. They also got it done a few days early. read more

I came here to get my dress simply cut. They wouldn't tell me the price for it before getting the measurements so I went ahead, and let him do it. Then, when I asked again for the price, they told me that it was $45! What a ridiculous price for just getting it cut! (I later went to the other store in East Rome and the kind owner only charged me $10. Please go here instead). When I told him that I would rather not continue service here, they refused to give back my dress! He had a firm grasp on it on the basis that I already made him do the measurements so I couldn't change my mind. I would like to remind y'all that this was all within a 5 minute timeframe. I was shocked by how he refused to give back my dress. He finally told me that I could only get my dress back if I paid 25% which was $11.20. Why would I pay 25% when he didn't even do the alteration?! I had no choice but to pay the price or else he would've stolen my dress. Please do not ever go here. This place is a disaster, and only accepts cash. I don't even want to give this mean-spirited owner 1 star. read more
