I am constantly around events, whether it's attending them (#1) or throwing them. During my time in NYC, A-Z was a frequent stop for me for just about everything under the event-planning sun. They're one of the few dedicated rental companies that can supply folks with the kind of ammo they'll need for an event in short notice. The woman who will likely answer the phone is here is Patricia, who is a straight shooter, no nonsense kind of person. She'll give you the low-down on what you'll need and can give you better suggestions than what you might already be thinking. If she doesn't have something that you want, she's more than likely going to know where you can find it. (#2) However, I find that email tends to work best with them. They have tents, tables, foldaway chairs, linens, dishware / china, umbrellas, helium tanks, chafing dishes, and all kinds of party favors. One thing I really appreciate is that they have platforms, like carpet runners, stanchions, and small stage for elevation. They have cotton candy / popcorn machines, and additional room dividers and partitions to help with the party layout. I appreciate that their prices are completely transparent on the website (#3) and self-pick up is free. Delivery is available for additional fees and they're not always on time. I would recommend getting in touch with them early and if delivery is the only way to go is to deliver at least 2 hours prior to event time. A to Z is my go-to vendor for renting linens for my events. I have gone with them many times without any issues. Patricia usually answers my calls or promptly responds to my voicemails. I have always went in to pick up and return my items without any issues. They are closed on Sundays which allows you to pick up on Saturday and return them on Monday. After a busy Saturday event with setup and breakup, I appreciate my rest on Sunday which you can do with A to Z. Their prices are fair; on par and often less than those offered by their competitors. Just wanted to write a quick review for this place. The service was super courtesy and prompt. Patricia was very helpful with my request and the drivers arrived within the time range that they said they would (looking at your Cable Providers!!!). With the pandemic kicking up in full gear and indoor dining done, I wanted to instead bring guests to my place for a nice dinner (10 people max obviously). However, my studio apartment lacks the proper seating and tables for such a large dinner party. In comes AZ party rentals. I saw that they had every type of thing I needed: tables, chairs, linens, and dinnerware, wine glasses, etc. There is a minimum though if you want it delivered. The rental prices are super cheap, and I would definitely go back to them for much larger events since I had such a good experience. Support your local businesses whenever you can! read more

We should've read the reviews on here instead of just rolling with the 4 star rating. A-Z Rental seemed great at first. Patricia was responsive and receptive to our needs. When we visited the business, there were cleaners outside using a power wash on several chairs. We thought that to be a good sign. We booked their services for our FIRST baby shower. We had planned for months, purchasing thousands of dollars in food, drink, and Knick knacks for our guests. Patricia even told us that they were familiar with our venue because they had delivered to that address before. That made us feel comfortable with A-Z. One thing that I regret not paying attention to was that the business was not open on weekends. There should be a service line to deal with concerned clients and customers in case of an emergency. We learned this the hard way. We received no call or notifications on the date of our baby shower (Saturday 10/14). I did not worry at first because Patricia sent an invoice and gave us a two hour window for delivery. Our window was from 4:30-6:30 pm. At 5:30 it was crunch time and the delivery still was not at our venue. At 6 pm I got worried because technically our baby shower had already started. At 6:05 pm we saw the A-Z rental truck bumbling down the street. There were two delivery guys. They didn't say a word to me or any of our guests. I wasn't worried about that because I was relieved they had arrived. Much to my chagrin, we were in for a rude awakening. The 2 delivery guys couldn't open the damn truck! They either packed it too high or something fell on a pulley. They certainly packed it incorrectly. They tried for at least an hour to open the damn truck. I felt like I was in a damn Seinfeld episode. While the two geniuses tried opening the truck, precious time was wasted and dozens of guests began to arrive. (I've included video) Imagine people, many of whom have traveled from as far as Maryland having to stand around with no place to sit. Embarrassing! To add insult to injury, Patricia did not call me. It's now Monday evening and she still hasn't called me since this nightmare. I had to ask one of the movers to call her after 45 minutes of them trying to open the truck. When I got her on the phone, there was no remorse, or empathy. Totally unprofessional. She said the best thing they could do is have the delivery guys travel back to the warehouse, load up a new truck and bring the tables and chairs. She said it would take an hour. It was already 7 pm at that point. We were in Bushwick and the warehouse was in Sunset Park. Luckily my father was able to get tables and chairs from another location. The movers showed up at our venue at 8:35 pm. Our shower was from 6-11 pm. It would take them at least an hour to lay out 15 tables and 95 chairs. I sent them away smh. Complete waste of time. First, 1 Star is far too generous. There are not enough words to describe the disappointment, regret, and embarrassment I feel after renting from this company. We placed an order for 15 tables and 95 chairs for a baby shower that NEVER ARRIVED. The truck arrived 30 min past the 2 hr window, with no way of getting in touch with the company or the drivers to confirm times or ETA. I understand they do not operate fully on weekends, but I'd imagine a majority of their deliveries are done at this time, so someone should be on call. When they finally arrived, they could not open the truck. Not sure if they packed the equipment improperly or their truck was faulty; either way no one could resolve the issue. Now we have guests arriving being forced to stand, wait, and watch the catastrophe unfold. We tried to contact Patricia with no luck. We were only able to speak to her AFTER the drivers contacted her directly. Eventually, the decision was made to return to the warehouse and load new equipment into a new truck, not to mention, different equipment from what we originally ordered. They returned 2 hours later! By that time, family had scrambled across town searching for random tables and chairs. Again, no calls were received for estimation of time and an unapologetic, unsympathetic Patricia. Imagine 70+ guests eating on their laps if they were lucky enough to even have a chair! I refused to spend anymore money or effort on this company and sent them away! No we didn't give any of our money to A-Z, but the time and money we did spend in preparation for the perfect party was wasted and the night was damn near ruined!!! We had a great experience working with Patricia last year (Sunday in Oct 2017). We rented table cloths, plates, spoons, glasses and all other items necessary for a buffet lunch. Patricia even called us to confirm the type of spoons we needed as we had selected something that wouldn't be suitable for chafing dishes. Delivery and pick up was on time and the delivery person was very helpful. We very much appreciated the good and affordable service from this rental agency. This is a review for the service we received on 9/24/17. As you can see in the photos the tent was filthy, they secured the tent with sand filled buckets that were hard to conceal, the chair slips were ill fitting, and the over all customer service was poor. When we called to ask notify them about their product there was no answer or reply. We left several messages which were never returned. Avoid this company!! Do not rent from them. Horrible company. They called me 2 days before my event to tell me that they made a mistake and did not have the 20x20 tent I ordered. I agreed to take a smaller 16x16 tent, because the company offered me a discount on it (which I ended up not receiving the discount as promised). They then delivered a 16x16 tent and platform with no steps (which I ordered); they delivered the steps hours later after me repeatedly having to call them. The tent was dirty and had rips in it that they attempted to tape up (tape was coming off). Three of the wood tables that were delivered were messed up, all chewed up at the edges. Thank God I hired a decorator and she made the best of this mess and my event came out beautiful. It's a shame that people run a company this way. Avoid this company. read more

I was having a small Christmas Eve party at home. Only needed 1 long table to seat 10, 2 linens and 14 white chairs. Everything arrived on time. The table looked very old but 2 linens covered that up. On the other hand the chairs were gross! Do they not wash these chairs, some even had what looked like dry cheese. Needless to say I spent the entire afternoon washing the chairs. First I tried Clorox, that didn't work. I sent my husband to the hardware store and he came back with a white paint pen but the chairs were so scoffed that it was going to take me hours. I had came to this place last year to try and arrange some chair and table rentals for my sister's baby shower. At first I was a bit skeptical, because they don't work with a contract, and then mixed reviews (apparently may have been their competitors?) but me and my sis figured it'd be okay to take the risk for their prices.The baby shower wasn't going to be all that big anyways. I forgot who the girl's name was, but she was very sweet and helpful and went through everything with me. Called for confirmation a day or so before and everything. The day of they came on time, if not a little early to drop the things off. My sister and her husband were definitely satisfied with the service, thought the delivery men were nice. Despite negative reviews I've seen on the internet elsewhere, all the tables and chairs were very clean, all looking new and in good shape. The day after they came, picked up the things, and that was that. Another cool thing about this place was that they gave us the option to pay the day of delivery in cash (I remember they don't accept personal checks or something). Easy, simple, and not at all complicated or confusing. A-Z Party Rentals almost ruined my wedding. They had been very responsive and helpful up until the actual day of the wedding when they never showed up and did not call me or answer their phone. The delivery was meant to be made between 10-11am for a 4:30pm reception. No one showed up, no one answered the phone, no one responded to our emails and no one contacted me. We frantically found another rental company who thank god was available and able to make a last minute delivery. The whole set up time was delayed by several hours because of this. At 12:30pm I get a phone call from the rudest man I have ever spoken to saying that he is from A-Z and can make the delivery by around 1pm. Two hours late. We had already made a deposit with the second company and spent an hour and a half panicking. The man did not give me his name, did not apologize, spoke to me in a very rude manner and gave me a pile of half-assed excuses. No one from the company ever called me to apologize for nearly ruining my wedding day. I have never dealt with such massive unprofessionalism in my life. I'm actually upset that I even have to give this company one star. It was all together a TERRIBLE experience. We rented their services for a baby shower and we were given a window of 4:30-6:30. Of course they came on the tail end of the window (6:05), the event started at 6. Apparently everything was placed completely wrong in the truck, because of that the two drivers were unable to open the door to get the tables and chairs out. They tried some of the most ridiculous techniques that were clearly not going to make the door open. They did this repeatedly, all the while just wasting time. It was obvious that when they packed the truck they stacked everything too high, causing something to be lodged in the door. Needless to say, not having tables and chairs can literally RUIN an event. The drivers were unapologetic & I assume in the phone with their boss who was giving no solution to what was going on. We were told the best they could do was go back and load up a whole new truck. At this point it was after 7pm and a great majority of our guests had arrived. It was obviously embarrassing for us because we'd put so much energy into making sure that everything ran smoothly for the baby shower. No amount of preparation could prepare us for these two idiots not knowing how to load a truck properly. The company showed no regard for the fact that we had to venture out to get random chairs and tables from other places in the meantime. All of this happening in front of all our guests by the way. By the time the drivers actually got back with a new truck it was 9PM!!!!!!!!!! 3 hours after the ordeal began. They arrived as nonchalant as they had previously. This was clearly because whoever was in charge did not care about rectifying the situation and in turn neither did the drivers. If you want your event to run smoothly I advise you to look elsewhere. We had a horrible experience with A-Z party rentals. My husband and I hired A-Z for our wedding rental equipment. We had a delivery time of Saturday for our Sunday wedding. A-Z did not deliver part of our order, a table for our wedding cake! We called 15 times and emailed with no response. Our event coordinator called a driver of A-Z that she is familiar with. Originally, she was told that the table would be delivered later in the day on Saturday. It was not. Our coordinator called again and we were told it would be delivered on Sunday at 9 am. This was stressful but all we could do. At 9:15 they still had not shown up. She called again. They said 10:00. No show yet again. 10:20 comes and we called again. The driver said he was on his way. Our table did not show up until 11:45. 15 minutes before the start of our wedding. All of our guests were there and seated already. It looked absolutely horrible and we had zero time to get the table decorated because we were getting ready to walk down the aisle so it was just a dirty plain table for our photos. I was going to give this company a 5 star rating until i opened up the folded white chairs and laid the white tablecloths on our tables. The chairs were ALL super dirty and five of them, had old dried vomit on them! GROSS! (See the pictures I posted) The tablecloth had marks of foot steps AND stains. The most important thing in the event planning industry is timeliness. Period. You can have the best quality material and the cheapest rates but if you give an hour delivery window and show up a half an hour past that window when all the guests are arriving, you've failed. To put further context in, A-Z Party Rentals is in Brooklyn and about a 15 minute drive from Prospect Park where our event was. I paid an extra $30 just for them to walk it 3 minutes to our spot, which I thought at the time was fine as long as they made it on time. This unfortunately was not the case. I hired them for my engagement party as a surprise for my fiance. They were supposed to show up between 2 and 3 and ended up showing at 3:30 pm forcing me to delay her further. An otherwise amazing day almost ruined by them. Afterwards, they had the nerve to show up a half hour earlier than they said they would to pick up the materials. HIGHLY RECOMMEND I just used A-Z Party Rentals for my wedding. Not only was A-Z the least expensive option, by far, I was instantly and then consistently impressed with their customer service, especially Patricia. For example: -They didn't carry linens in the color I was looking for. Patricia offered to arrange for me to sub-rent linens in that color from one of their contacts, then arranged to have my visit the office to confirm the color in person. Totally seamless. No extra fees or extra efforts on my part. No separate invoicing. She took care of everything. -The contact I sub-rented those linens from didn't carry them in one specific size we needed. Patricia arranged for the purchase of this size linens, but when they came in she realized they were a slightly different color. She called me immediately, sent photos of the difference in color, and made all the necessary adjustments to my order, with no stress for me. -Every single time I called, Patricia answered the phone in person. Every single time I emailed, Patricia personally responded within a couple hours. -My order arrived early in perfect order. The delivery men called to let me know they'd unloaded the truck and asked for setup instructions so we wouldn't experience any holdup. A-Z is a very unprofessional company. One of the worst experience with a vendor. First-time renting tables. We ordered 20 tables. Tables looked like they were tied to the back of the car, dragged a couple miles, and then delivered to us. There were different types of tables at different heights. Some were wood tables with the laminate peeled off. Some tables were so low only kids could sit in them. Even the negotiating process was a hassle. A-Z offered to exchange the tables for something that looked a little better (I would have believed it with a picture). At that point the tables were set-up and we tried to negotiate cloth table covers. The company had the nerve to want to charge us to cover these atrocious tables because they need to pay to have the covers sent to a lady to wash and iron. That just tells you how small the company is if they cannot even afford to save face and remedy bad service. Even the supervisor refused to speak with me and had the poor receptionist do all his dirty work, so a lot of back and forth. When planning an event, the tables should be the least of your worries.
