Don't come here for state inspections. They failed me for a dent + small chip in my car. This is damage I've had for 5 years and I've never failed before. It's definitely visible so they could have at least been honest with me and let me know they'd fail me upon taking even one glance at my car. But they didn't and chose to take my money and fail me instead. There are so many more reputable places around here, like JD Auto in Brookline. Go there instead. These guys are scam artists who hope you'll ask them to fix the problem so they'll pass you. read more

I've been coming here for 15 years. Talk to the manager, Roy! He is great and he always takes the time to make things right. I brought in three of my cars over the years and they have always done a great job painting. And obviously, they're not perfect. Sometimes I get a paint job with a bit of overspray. But Roy always makes sure the customer is happy, so he'll have his detail team remove and buff out imperfections. You'll see in the photos that he's actually outside with a customer, personally restoring the headlights to new condition. Also the front desk lady, Alba, is wonderful. They also do a great job of negotiating with insurance companies and helping you get the most of your money. Very solid people and great auto body shop! read more

Roy and his team are among people who have real spirit of craftsmanship, 5 or 10 starts are not enough to show my respect, appreciation and gratitude. I got an accident and the left mirror fall off with wires still connecting , big scratch on door. The owner of garage near Newton highland pet hospital told me he could do that for $3000+, changing mirror and exterior part of the door. While Roy and his team did an amazing job with half of the cost, fixed the mirror back and polished the scratch , and made it like new. Roy and his team doesn't neglect small work, meanwhile they finished their job with an attitude of perfectionism, yet faster than you expected. Why I'll go back: They did a meticulous job for a decent price and saved me a major hassle Tony's Tip: There's a green line stop right in front of the building, so you don't have to worry about getting into or out of the city on the day your car is being serviced. I actually stumbled upon A-Z while I was researching Groupon. They had made an offer via Groupon that had been extremely popular (something like 75% off a detailing). After nine years of somewhat limited, but daily usage, my Audi had finally started to retain some odors, not to mention many stains on the carpets from spilled coffee, muddy shoes, etc. I had hit my frustration point, but didn't want to even attempt to restore my car to its former glory by myself. So, the idea of bringing it to A-Z sort of fell into my lap. I was sold by the multiple Yelpers raving about the "newness" of their cars after a day with A-Z. So, I felt comfortable taking it in for an interior detailing. To make a long story short, Greg was friendly over the phone, the car was done on time, and it looked fantastic. Not new, mind you. But practically all the stains were gone, the dashboard and trim was no longer dirty or dusty. And for weeks, the car smelled like it had taken a bubble bath. So worth the $99. read more

I won't come here for state inspections. The car had some problems and failed. Asked if they could do a diagnostic test, they said that comes with a fee. I am not used to paying a diagnostic fee. Maybe that's a franchise thing. They did say that they will waive it if I get service from them. I left to get second opinions from other places. They also said if you think they are not giving you a fair price, let us know and we can give you feedback. Since, they were very nice and courteous, I am giving them 3/5. Update- Picked my car up on July 19th after they fixed my fuse that blew. The issue I repeatedly asked them to check? Yeah, my car died less than a month later from that issue. They claim they checked it before and nothing was wrong. I saw the damaged plug myself and was skeptical that the battery fan would still be running but they assured me it was 3 weeks ago. My car died 40 miles out of town, with my 2 and 4 year old inside, during a heat advisory. I was stuck for 2 days waiting on calls back and a Triple A tow. My tow back into the shop was $160 and they refuse to help me with it. They want over $600 for the work on the fan, which is fine, I just wish I had known the first time I was in the shop begging them to check it. The extra $160 and 3 days and counting of no car? Not cool with me. I am taking my car elsewhere for the work. It's one thing to have to nag about an issue, to be told it's fine, then have it fully break weeks later...but not standing behind your word and refusing to help your customer with the towing bill? They got $450 out of me last time, but after I pay the $160 in towing another shop can make the $620 on the fan work. You're only as good as your word, and if you reassure your customer that this part on their car is fine then the car breaks down 3 weeks later, you've lost my trust. read more

Got into a small hit-and-run, worked with my insurance company to find a shop and this one came highly recommended. The adjuster spoke to me and the shop at the same time on a three-way call, they confirmed for me to come in and so I did... Arrived, the toothless guy looked up from his mask less face after sneezing, half falling asleep. He could barely function or much less get a sentence out. Gross. I know 1-star is dramatically low, but I've had nothing but disappointing experiences here. I urge you to look at other options to take your car in the area. I normally give more thorough reviews, but I'm too exhausted with this place. Back in May, I gave them my car while I left the country for 11 days, asking if they'd be able to do a number of repairs: replacing a front engine mount, glueing a flap of upholstery back onto the door panel, an alignment, and replacing the key mechanism in the driver door. If I'd been told that they were too busy, I would have completely understood and searched around for another auto shop in the area. But I was told very confidently that all this would be done in that time frame. I was surprised to receive a call within two days telling me that all the work was finished. It was impressively fast and I had a friend pick it up and park it for me. When I got back to Boston, the car was growling with a shaky-idle, the upholstery job was done but looked terrible (there are glue streaks matting down the mousefur, and the key mechanism was not replaced at all. When I asked Roy what happened, he told me they just forgot to do replace the door lock even though we'd talked at length about the job beforehand and I'd asked multiple times to make sure that they had time to complete that job before I got back to Boston. When I asked about how the car was sounding overamped and shaking, he got defensive and just blamed it on the car. They refunded me for the key mechanism job they hadn't done and refused any responsibility for the poor quality of the rest of the work. Later this summer, I took my car to an amazing shop in Denver and the worker there was shocked that I had not been told about some issues with my alignment when the alignment job was done at A-Z. So I don't know what the people here are trying to do, but it is certainly not a "customer-first" business as they have said on here multiple times. I think the main problem with this place is that they are taking on far too many jobs that they cannot complete with high competency and quality and timeliness. I experienced one of the more rude and incompetent service jobs I have seen yet. I will not be returning. I only hope that some people will read this review and look at other options. As for A-Z Auto Center, please re-evaluate your practices for how you accept jobs and be smarter about accepting every job asked of you. It's setting up way too much room for low quality work and bad customer service. read more

Went on Wednesday to bring my car in for an oil change and tire rotation and they lost my car and said it wasn't there... I should have stopped while I was ahead because when I brought back in on Friday to redo the oil change appointment, they said my brakes needed replacing and it would be $600. Not sure if they saw me coming from a mile away and thought they could take advantage of me but no brakes are $600. But I got my oil changed and tires rotated for $115 and I don't think that's reasonable either. DON'T GO HERE!! read more

This was by far the best car cleaning and detail I've EVER gotten. Hands down. I'm lucky to have A-Z Auto right down the street from me, but had I lived elsewhere I would have come here anyway. The shop is right on the Green Line and even though prices seem high, the work they do is exceptional. 1 stars for the car work 5 stars for Tony I had my back bumper fixed at A-Z after a car accident. They did an OK job fixing the bumper, but I liked working with Tony. I don't know much about cars, but I could tell that there was something off with the car - water was leaking in and accumulating in my right taillight. I brought it back to the shop after 2 weeks, had it fixed.. but water started leaking into the trunk!! I'm a huge service person and I liked working with Tony, whom I didn't get to speak with until the 2nd time. I went back to the shop for the 3rd time a few weeks after because I smell burning rubber every time I drove. I was rude and impatient and blamed on Tony and the body shop for ruining my car. But boy was I wrong. It was a plastic bag stuck under my car. Tony was very nice and patient the entire time. He removed the bag and cleaned the car for me without charge. Very nice guy. Ahhh new car smell.... My poor Corolla is almost 5 years old, it was in pretty rough shape outside and in. I saw a Groupon and thought, PERFECT! I hate detailing my own car, it's such a meticulous job and it takes forever, especially living downtown... I bought the Groupon and made an appointment for later that week. The carpet in my car is extra pilly, it's horrible to vacuum out. Did I mention my car is also the beach car of choice by my roommates. It was gross, I mean gross gross. Sand, old ice cream, koolaid spills, dog drool on the windows. I was actually embarrassed to drive it. NOT ANYMORE. The inside is beautiful and it smells AWESOME, the carpet looks brand new! The outside still has a few scuffs and bumps, but my Car has been through 3 Boston winters and two Canadian... It's going to, I wasn't expecting miracles. However, I got re-ended about two years ago and you could still see the red paint imprint from the license paint of the car that kissed my car. Well that's gone now... So I'm happy... Overall happy with the purchase, will be back, but it may not be for a while as I'm going to do my best to keep it clean. I will however refer A to Z to everyone! read more

Why aren't there 6 stars? I took my dirty, dingy 7 year old Volvo to AZ Center for its first-ever detailing and I can honestly that I was gob-smacked (in a good way) by the results!. Like many of the reviewers I found AZ via Groupon and decided to treat my car to a detailing. I checked in, was welcomed by a friendly worker, and then Tony walked me through the process, inspected the car and pointed me in the direction of the green line. My husband picked up the car a few hours later and every surface was cleaned, shampooed or otherwise cleaned to absolute perfection. There wasn't a speck of dust of dirt to be found! The outside was polished to perfection and the little scratches that has accumulated over 7 years of city living magically disappeared.! read more

I bought a Groupon for complete interior & exterior car detailing , a value that is worth $180 for $45. I was a bit skeptical because this was a stellar deal. It was practically like free! Living in Boston, my car pretty much gets his ass kicked every winter and parking in the streets don't help at all. Um,, yeh someone keyed a huge scratch on the hood of my car and ppl who can't parallel park will scrape my bumper like its a game of tag. And the grime on my windows, yeh when its rains, i am the fool with its windows down cuz I can;t see out! So i make an appt and bring my car in, ugh its raining, i hope this doesnt ruin its wax job. At the end of the day, I go pick up my car and they bring it up front and hand you the keys. I felt like I was driving away in a brand new car. It looked sooo beautiful! the scratch is gone from the hood, the scrapes on my bumper, no where to be seen! amazing!!!! the inside smelled like lemon fresh and my car is clean and vaccummed! Clean, professional, customer-oriented staff provides incredibly high quality, thorough, impressive detailing work. I took my VW Golf 1.8T in here to prep it for sale. I'd been considering more economical detailing shops, with a ballpark price about half of what I ended up paying here at A-Z. I'm really glad that I chose to up the ante, as the car looks better than when I purchased it. These guys were able to fix minor cosmetic issues with the car that every previous place had either ignored or had deemed beyond repair. The work these people do raises the bar: from first point of contact, inspecting the vehicle and creating an estimate with Roy, discussing particular concerns with Tim, through chatting with Lisa in the office, and finally receiving the car back in gorgeous condition, this was an extremely positive customer experience. The one shortcoming was the fact that they kept me waiting for over 2 hours for my vehicle on delivery, even after I left it with them for an extra day. Otherwise, kudos to everyone at A-Z for showing us how high-quality work and customer service should be done! Skip everywhere else and go straight to the people at A-Z! I dropped off my '08 Mazda 3 after it was hit by a fire truck while parked outside of my apartment as well as some out of pocket repairs to be done. The cool thing about the place is that you can track the progress of your car through their website by looking at pictures and viewing messages from your claim concierge. Two weeks later, my car was done. I went in to pick it up and I was blindsided by they attempting to charge me almost double for the out of pocket repairs then they had qutoted me. Apparently the price of the part had gone up, but I was not made aware of this before the repairs were completed. After much discussion, they honored the original quoted price. Much appreciated Tony. I got in my car and to my surprise it had been detailed! The air freshener was a bit much, but the inside looked brand new. The only problem was that they took all my stuff out of my doors, backseat, and pockets and haphazardly threw them in my trunk. Not Cool. There were a pair of sunglasses that are now unwearable. Good Work. Nice surprise with the detailing. Not cool going through my stuff (I'm still missing some things) I'll go back for more body work, but not before I vent my frustrations face to face with them read more

If you watch the US open tennis, during the broadcast they show something called motion tracker which freezes the video when a player plays a shot throughout the course of a point. The end result shows a player's position on the court during the point. Apparently my one year old car's paint has some sort of motion tracker technology too. It captures the swirls on the paint and the end result: eye of the hurricane type swirls all over my car (Category 6 I think). Adding to the misery: the car is black. The Groupon they advertised was heaven sent. Just when I was checking out the places to get my car detailed, I came across their offer; a complete interior and exterior detailing for 89 (50% off the regular price). I called Greg and he was helpful in going about how to setup an appointment. And he sent confirmations and periodical remainders before the appointment. On the day, I drove in early and dropped it off at the service center. Their detailing center is behind the building that houses their office and garage. So make a right turn into the street before the offices and around the small island on the road. Though they said 5 PM as the pick up time, employees were in the office late and I was able to pick up at 6 PM. Mario, who worked on the car, explained all the work that was done; exterior: hand washed, polished and sealant applied interior: leather seats cleaned and conditioned, carpets shampooed, vinyl cleaned and protectant coat applied, glass cleaned, under the hood cleaned as well. I periodically do the interior detailing myself and could really tell the difference between in the quality of the job. A few scrapes and scratches on the outside were wet sanded and buffed out as much as possible which was really nice of him to do. They have a $29 wash and detail(exterior) service which I might go far once the winter is over. The website has a vehicle tracking feature (only for the body shop I believe) where they upload pictures of the work being done on the car. I've had my car two years and I don't think I've cleaned-out the interior once. It was ugly. But the guys at A-Z left my car looking & smelling like new. So I had all the body work done. I left my car there to have the insurance appraisers come look at it; Greg took care of all that, pointing out the problems, and started repairs as soon as the insurance company agreed with the estimate. I got the car back on Tuesday -- it seriously looks like new. The paint job is fantastic and the car is totally polished and shiny. They fixed up my broken front license plate holder and recleaned the interior while they were at it. They even gave me a small bottle of my paint color to do touchups if and when I ever need them. And I have to give them major props for how hard they worked on it. I needed it on Tuesday at 2:30; Tuesday morning while doing final reassembly, they realized that some small clips (~$1 total in parts) had broken during the initial disassembly. Greg was originally worried that the lead time on the parts would mean they couldn't have it done in time, but within a very short time he'd managed to get the parts from a place in Quincy and the car was quickly back together and ready to go. read more

Magic. The folks at A-Z Auto Center are magicians, they transformed my scary 13 year old car into a thing of beauty. I decided to have my car detailed before bringing it to a car dealer to trade in towards a new car. It completely paid off! Not only did they do an amazing job cleaning the car, they also touched up all the scratches and rusty spots. Wow. I almost didn't recognize my old clunker!
