I've been taking reformer Flow classes here for a few weeks, mostly with Marissa, and whether…read moreyou're just starting Pilates or coming back after a long break like I was this is such a friendly and supportive environment to do it. The studio is clean and comfortable. It gets hot in Tucson in the summer but the AC and fans in here keep it cool enough. The reformers are in great shape as well as all of the equipment. It's very high quality stuff that feels sturdy when you're moving around on it. Marissa is an excellent instructor. She'll kick your butt in the best way. I also appreciate that she provides different levels of modifications depending on what you're comfortable with and there's no shaming if you choose not to do the more challenging version of a move. She's incredibly supportive and her positive energy makes me genuinely look forward to class. Highly recommend In Balance Pilates!!! My only recco is make sure you sign up for classes in advance as they can fill up.

My fitness journey at In balance Pilates started a few months ago when a good friend suggested I…read morejoin her for a class. The experience has been more than I could have asked for. After ACL reconstruction, I've regained full mobility in my knee and, just as importantly, the confidence to trust my stability again. The reformers allow for supported, almost weightless movement that you can gradually build upon as your body is ready. They've also had an incredible effect on my spine, providing a sense of decompression that I haven't experienced anywhere else. Thanks to In Balance, I've found myself back in the gym and feeling confident in my movement again. As an unexpected bonus, the strength and mobility I've developed here have even improved my yoga practice, which had plateaued before joining the studio. The teachers are wonderful at offering both challenges and encouragement. The music is always upbeat, and modifications are intuitively offered so everyone can stay engaged regardless of their experience or ability level. All of the instructors have been stellar, but I especially enjoy Tiana, Katherine, Shawna, and Dana's classes. They do such a great job building community, and I've genuinely come to look forward to wincing through the challenges alongside the variety of people I find myself surrounded by each class. This is an athlete-focused studio that truly meets you where you are. The instructors have extensive training both in and outside of the studio, and it's clear they know their craft and put real thought into their sequences. I also really appreciate the predictable structure of the classes. There's designated focus areas each month (shoulders, abs, booty) allowing me to realize actual improvements in my strength and flexibility as the weeks go by no matter who's class I make it to. I trust the teachers to hold space for whatever level of energy I happen to have that day, while still encouraging me to push myself when I'm capable of more. Thank you to the entire In Balance team for helping me build strength, mobility, and confidence for everyday life--and beyond!

Ever since Pure Barre's grand opening class, I have been addicted! I share a love for Barre3 but my…read morebody craves PB more. I love the flow of each PB class and their localized, core/tuck focused techniques/movements. The warm-up starts with some aerobic class style movements but quickly transitions to challenging core workouts (B3 differs with longer aerobic warm-up). After burning though your core, class transitions to a 'hurts so good' upper body (with light weights) workout. While B3 combines arm weights with lower body movements, I personally prefer PB's localized arm workout. Next, class transitions to the barre; lower body (thighs then seat area) is focused first then class concludes with more core-burning fun (mat under the barre then mat on floor). Aside from the cushy mat, we utilize the PB ball with several leg and core workouts. With all of the burning and shaking movements, the instructor includes refreshing stretches before major transitions. Other differences between PB and Barre3: - PB has a warm/cozy feel with carpeted studio floor whereas B3 is light/airy with hardwood [cork] floor. B3 has a larger location with separate changing areas (PB is limited to 1 bathroom), child care and towels for overly sweaty folks like me. - Barre classes are pricey nationwide and PB rates are higher than B3. Currently, I am taking advantage of the 5 week unlimited class pass (new student special). I am hoping that PB will offer class package sales (like B3's Labor Day sale). 10/22/2014 Update: PB recently added a small changing area and more package specials, including 25 in 30 challenge for $130 and 10% discount for buying a new package before current one expires. They also offer a discount for students and nurses. I recently inquired a discount on behalf of my teacher friends (one of the co-owners stated that this great suggestion would be discussed further). As I've continued to attend classes several times a week, I must add that all of the staff/instructors are super nice and attentive, especially the owners (Briana and Vanessa) and Head Barretender Lillian.

If you've never tried Barre before, Barre3 Tucson Foothills is the perfect place to start!…read more The Signature classes offer a full-body workout that's fun, dancable, and just the right amount of challenging. They've helped me strengthen and stabilize my lower back and core, which is something I really needed as I healed from an injury. The Strength classes are a slower, more intentional burn, using heavier weights to really focus in. What sets B3 apart is their emphasis on listening to your body, no pressure to push through pain, just encouragement to move in a way that supports you. The instructors and staff are all so welcoming and uplifting. Barre3 is the fitness community you never knew you needed. Give it a try. You'll love it!

I used to attend barre classes regularly and more than 80% of the class was at THE BARRE (10% warm-up and 10% abs on the floor). The class I attended here was more of 60%. My friends who had attended a few weeks before said the same thing. This was just one class. Maybe there are others classes or even other instructors that are more barre intensive. But my expectation was not met in that regard especially for a specialty class with that namesake. I would go again to try another class. I did fee like I got a good workout and the instruction was fine overall.
