We hired this amiable charlatan...er...ah...salesman (I wonder if the owner is really a contractor)…read moreto create an outside entrance to the second floor of our home, with stairs leading up to it. He would also make a kitchen (except the plumbing), move a doorway, and do several other tasks to help us create a short-term rental apartment. He happily took our 60% down payment of about $17,000.00. Five months after the proposed finish date, the stairs and the doorway still needed to be finished! Communication with him was like dealing with a strikingly cocky adolescent. My wife and I started working inside the house to hurry things along, swearing we would not pay him any more than we already had! After many attempts to work with him, Mr. Clark (The Owner) informed us that "Neighbor's Choice" had gone out of business, but he would not require us to pay the remainder of what we OWED HIM!! Not even half of the work was completed after we paid him more than half the money! We found out from his sub-contractor that Ken gave him the job with very few details and had only paid him $10K! We tried to reason with The Owner to get the other $7K back since the only work he had done on the project was to collect our check. But, pirates never give back the booty! RUN from Neighbor's Choice Remodeling or any business with which The Owner is associated!!!

They did a great job installing my new floor. I would recommend this company!read more

Disturbed by neg comments: Employer stated "This job is beneath me!" Not detail oriented and cuts corners. Contractor in regards to unlevel floor patch with 1/2 gaps on three sides:" I'm putting my foot down! I refuse to sand & level it! It will be covered by carpet (trim or shingles) so doesn't matter! If we wanted it to be level, we should have used a different material!" Eventually calked and sanded to appease. Afraid roof done same way (with large gaps). Two dust barriers in place only four of the eleven days needed. As a result, a thick layer of dust covered everything in the house! Husband removed carpet staples as employee failed to do so. Also removed wood burning stove from the basement and gave away; cleaned up after employees daily. Contractor refused to compensate. In regard to removing the wood burning stove ourselves, contractor stated:" That's money out of my own pocket! I was going to recycle it!" Bid excluded basic items such as handrail brackets, doorknobs, electrical hardware, light fixtures, the painting of four door jams plus two skirtboards, inside closet finishes, wall corner trim, etc. In addition, we had to purchase own carpet as contractor did not include this in his either. Ultimately, we ended up paying an increased contractor fee.

They were had to spend a day grinding it to make it level. The employee worked clean as possible and the downstairs clean when they were done. There price was very fair especially since there was extra work involved. I would highly recommend them for any remodel job you might have
