Cozy and bougie tapas restaurant along the Lagos marina. Like most places in Lagos, this is a tourist-centric business with less traditional dishes - but don't let this deter you from a fantastic meal! We stumbled upon this place our first night in Lagos not realizing how popular it really was and were lucky to get a table for two as we arrived near opening time. We were initially told we could only have the table for 1.5 hours since there was a reservation coming in, but in the end stayed for a relaxed, wonderful meal spanning over two hours.
The restaurant exterior itself is very diminutive, located next to a boat yard in at the end of a driveway. There's a small outdoor seating area, but the inside is nautical, elegant, and quaint. The tables are squished quite close together between a long dining sofa along one wall and the bar on the other. The far wall looks out onto the boats of the marina, not quite as scenic as some other restaurants along the actual beach but still plenty of natural light.
Our servers were all multilingual, as are the menus. Each dish was plated beautifully and so well-balanced and we had a hard time stopping ourselves from ordering more (our waitress ultimately wisely put the brakes on our ordering spree). Even things as simple as the Vegetable Soup (soup of the day) and Squid Salad blew us away. We didn't get to try the prosciutto that one of the carvers was diligently working on shaving away throughout dinner service, but would strongly recommend trying anything on the menu. Service is slow and relaxed but still attentive, and we were definitely full with no room for dessert after choosing three tapas, a soup each, and a main dish to split.
Would definitely return on my next visit to Lagos! read more
