The person they sent to provide a bid was exceptionally rude and slightly aggressive. He assumed I couldn't afford the renovation of two apartments. Then he canceled our appointment to view my other rental, despite my scheduling a visit for three properties that needed renovations. He seemed to think I was naive enough to believe it would cost $100k to renovate a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo, when it's clearly an easy $300k job. I had two such units, totaling $600k, plus a deck update at a different rental. Ladies, beware of these men who underestimate us. I already had the approved plans and permit from SF; I just needed to start. What a loss for your company, sending such an unprofessional person. read more

We were very happy with Sean and his team. His estimate was fair and we found him very easy to work with and responsive to our needs and questions. Several things came up that we did not expect, such as having to assemble the vanity, but one of his workers was able to accomplish this and did a good job. Sean had to drive to several different locations to pick up fixtures and supplies but did that willingly. The job was finished in a reasonable time frame and our house and garage were clean and neat when the workers left. We love our new bathroom! read more

Contacted A Tamam for a new roof from an Angies List recommendation. The price quoted was good and the company seemed reputable so Gary and I signed the contract. The crew came out and demo'd the existing roof. After demo (I have no roof) Gary says he made a mistake on the contract and the only way they can reroof is for me to sign a new contract (with what appears to be a non-existant company called dream house construct). The threat of leaving me without a roof worked and, under duress, i signed the new contract. Just after the new roof was put on the attic heater stopped working. They'd left a 2" gap along two sides of my house. Rats had eaten the wiring. I contacted Gary and he said that i'd already had the 2" gap. I told him he's mistaken and sent a before picture with the sealed edge and that's the last i heard from him. He doesn't respond to my messages. The roof was built with just the one shingle type so the top points are rough and edges have shingle overhang. read more

Came out to estimate replacing about 650 sq ft of driveway & walkway with stamped concrete. Prompt and cordial which is the only reason they don't get one star. If you use this company, make sure you have a thorough and detailed written contract that includes everything that the project manager tells you he/she will do including what you want and expect to have done. In our case, we were told that all sheet rock would be taken down to the studs. We were told it would be done but it was not written this way in the contract. The project manager argued with us about the need to do it despite having previously agreed to it. The project manager was told several times during our interview that we wanted insulation in the walls to muffle sounds. This was finally done after having to argue over it. These were just a few of many issues from the start of our small bathroom upgrade. In our contract a shower bench was included but the crew did not put it in. When we asked about it, the shower walls had already been prepped for tile and it was too late to add. Other issues: The crew installed the vanity and toilet before adding the baseboard tile. We had decided to add crown moulding in the entire bathroom including the shower. Rather than installing the crown moulding first as we had requested numerous times, the crew installed the tile all the way to the ceiling which made the moulding installation more time consuming and difficult. We were told by the project manager to get a pre-hung bathroom door. When the door was installed, the new door frame as taken off the new door and thrown away and the existing frame was used. The door did not fit properly. We had to hire a door contractor to come in and install it and the door knob correctly. Many shortcuts were taken. None of this would have been an issue if the project manager had construction experience and clearly communicated with the foreman what was to be done and how to do it. The company's management team was totally cooperative and listened to our issues. They came out several times to inspect the poor quality of the project. Management worked closely with us to come up with a mutually agreeable resolution which was appreciate. read more

Our project included cabinets repainting, backsplash replacement interior wall treatment (wall panel installation and paint).
