This review is long overdue. Henry and his crew knocked it out of the park staining my (HUGE) fence. The stain that they used seems to be light years better than what the previous company used on my fence. It has held up for several months perfectly. They did a wonderful job and were mindful of my expensive pavers. I will definitly be using Henry and his crew every few years to keep my fence looking gorgeous. Thanks guys!!! read more

HG Staining - California Redwood Stain color, recommended by Henry. BADASS color!! - Decks & Railing Near Me

The experience from start to finish was great! Henry came out and gave me a quote to stain my fence and pergola. I communicated via text with Maria who worked with me to get on the calendar. We had to move the date once due to rain, but communication is great. Two half days for this job. The first day everything was power washed. The second day, they put plastic up to cover everything surrounding the area to be stained and did the staining. I am very happy with the final outcome. Now I'm ready for spring planting. read more

Fantastic staining job of my fences and deck railing by Henry and his crew! We were very happy with the results and the overall process. It started with communicating with Maria, who was very responsive. Then Henry came to inspect the property, and gave a reasonable quote the next day. Day 1: Henry and his crew carefully wrapped all my plants before pressure washing all the fences. Then put on sample stains to help us determine the right stain color. Day 2: After checking all the wood was dried, they sprayed and backrolled the stain onto the fences. They use TWP, which is one of the highest quality stains on the market. Day 3: Unfortunately there was light rain in the morning. Henry still came later after the rain to see if the conditions allowed them to continue their job. Together, we determined it was best he come back 2 days later to allow for more drying time before further staining. Even though he now had to reschedule other jobs, Henry did the right thing to postpone. Day 5: Henry and his crew came back and finished off the deck railings and rest of the fences. Took a walkthrough with him and settled our payment. Overall, Henry and his team were very professional and efficient. Henry was also communicative and would text me videos and pictures during the day to show progress. You guys will be the first one I call when I eventually need to restain everything. read more

This is such a late review, but I suppose the benefit of doing it after so much time has passed is that I can speak to the durability of the job! Maria & Henry are just absolutely fantastic. We hired them to stain our fence. They came by, measured, sent us sample colors, and gave us an extremely fair rate. The day of, the covered all bushes, walls, nearby cars to make sure no stain landed in the wrong spot. The job was perfectly executed. They also painted our front door so well that is looks powder-coated. Highly recommended!! read more

We had HG Staining build a small composite deck. Henry and Maria were responsive, professional and extremely easy to work with. The work was done quickly, on-budget, and well, and we are extremely happy with the results. This is a personal preference but other places we contacted overcommunicated with lots of messages making, confirming, and soliciting feedback for estimate appointments. We prefer simpler, direct communication and Maria and Henry did exactly that. read more

These guys did a great job building my deck.It wasnt a normal deck. It was 500 sqft wide and at 10ft elevation. Henry and team were meticulous in tearing down the old deck and building the new one as per specification. They kept me informed all along the process and took care of all the inspections till the final permit approval(PS I had to get the permit on my own). They were quick and completed the entire project within a month. Along with the main deck project they also did the staining and my sidewalk. They were pretty reasonable. Id definitely recommend them. read more

We recently had our outdoor redwood decks refinished by HG Staining, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, HG Staining demonstrated remarkable expertise and professionalism. The initial consultation was thorough and informative, with Henry and his wife Maria, taking the time to explain the process, answer all of our questions, and provide a detailed estimate. His knowledge of redwood and the appropriate refinishing techniques was evident, which immediately instilled confidence in his ability to handle the job. Throughout the project, HG Staining displayed impeccable attention to detail. He meticulously prepared the decks, ensuring all surfaces were properly sanded and cleaned before applying the finish. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding, and the final result exceeded our expectations. The decks now look stunning, with a beautiful, rich finish that enhances the natural beauty of the redwood. Communication was seamless throughout the project. Both Henry and Maria kept us informed of progress, adhered to the agreed-upon timeline, and was always punctual. The prep work and the details of covering our windows and furniture etc. so they wouldn't get dusty was amazing! His dedication to delivering high-quality results was evident in every aspect of his work. In addition to his technical skills, HG Staining was a pleasure to work with. He and his team were courteous, respectful of our property, and left the work area clean and tidy at the end of each day. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the service provided by HG Staining. Smoke-em if you got em! This is a long story. I hired Henry to remove and replace the floor of our deck which is elevated 20ft over our backyard. Maria, his wife and business partner, came along to do the initial estimate with Henry. Between the two of them, I found them to be simply good people, with the expertise and a reasonably priced quote to do the work. Well, our deck flooring had pretty bad dry rot, and when we pulled the top layer off, there was dry rot on the support beams as well. *******Now I was in for a big problem; this job just went from any easy retrofit to a full-on permit nightmare. Rules in Belmont, our hometown, say that if you have to replace more than the floorboards, you need to bring the entire structure up to modern code. Now the cost was exploding, and I needed an architect and an engineer to do all the correct calculations for the city permit. I originally had NONE of this, but thanks to Henry, he put me in touch with an architect and an engineer who were both very easy to work with and highly knowledgeable. They were also very quick about turning the plans around. So fast forward to the final project; our one-week project turned into a prolonged 2 1/2-month monster. But the work that Henry and his crew did, which included his sibling, Carlos, did was done quickly and in a very clean manner as soon as the permits were available. He also brought in two other experienced professionals to help with the complexity of the new 20ft support frame, along with a really talented carpenter for some special railing requirements I had. The work was clean and super solid, and what could have been a real mess ended up being a smooth process because of the resources Henry was able to bring in. Thanks Henry and Maria for your work, I have a lot of dryrot in my backyard that has your name on it as soon I can scrape together the money to do so!! read more

This review is late in coming, but Henry and Maria were wonderful to work! Last year, Henry stained the wood trimming on the exterior of our house. Henry used high quality stain (TWP) that has very high reviews and will last a long time. Henry gave very reasonable quotes and patiently answered all my questions. He and his crew did an excellent job. I will be reaching out to them again next time our house needs staining. I'd definitely recommend them! read more

Response was quick, and price is reasonable. More importantly the service is great and professional. They did a fantastic job and result is above my expectation. I agree: should be 10 stars! We used HG staining to refinish an older deck and stairs which in the past I always have done myself. I cannot say enough great things about the experience. Dealing with Maria on the phone was wonderful. She was helpful, always responded quickly, and made the booking process very easy. Henry, her husband, did the estimate and then came himself with one additional worker to do the work. They did a perfect job in powerwashing, sanding, and restaining with two coats. The deck looks awesome. They were careful with adjacent plants and covered everything with plastic to avoid any drips. Cleaned everything up. Their price was very reasonable and they were able to get the work done in time for us to host a dinner on the deck a few days later. We would most certainly use Maria and Henry again. read more

Don't hesitate to work with Henry, Maria and their team. They are responsive, competitive in their pricing, and will point out and deal with 'surprises' that invariably come up and provide options and a fair update to pricing if it's called for. They redid a whole deck for me that hadn't been built right to begin with, it looks much better now and, more importantly based on their approach and materials, will be usable for a very long time. They also diagnosed and provided a fix for some dry rot in some structural support beams not associated with the deck. I was impressed with their can-do attitude and no nonsense approach to getting to the work quickly and providing a solid solution that gives me peace of mind. I'm pleased with the results and happy to have found a team I can rely on when I need wood structural related work done. Highly recommended. read more
