My sister and I had a joint appointment. We live 1 hour 30 min. away. My sister tried on about 8-10 wigs, all consultant assisted. When it was my turn, the consultant put one wig on my head and then looked for others, handed them to me to try on and then looked for more wigs, which I had to put on as well. We were given wigs that were not in the color requested, told to imagine what it would look like and then if we thought we would like it to leave a deposit that could only be used for store credit if we did not like the color when it came in. Since we did not purchase a wig, we were charged $55 per person for consultation. Be aware! Ask questions before you go. For 2 senior citizens to spend $55 each to "play dress-up" as it was put, turned out to be an expensive afternoon. We were told we could come back next month and see what they had gotten in. Sorry. No more expensive "dress-up" for me. I can order a wig online and send it back for a full refund and do not have to drive an hour and a half one-way to check it out. read more

I was looking for a salon to get some of my wigs styled. I also was interested in getting a new professionally fitted wig. I found A Special Place online and used their contact page to make an appointment with Jessica. When I arrived, I was escorted to a private fitting room and was greeted by Jessica. She took my measurements, and brought out several wigs based on my preferences. I must have tried on 20 different wigs, and narrowed down to four finalists. Jessica kept switching them for me until I decided on the winner. I plan to visit again soon to purchase the runner-up and to get some styling done on a few wigs. They have a great selection in stock, and are CD friendly. This is indeed a special place. The staff made me feel welcome, and are very professional. After having had a terrible experience at Wig Plus I lucked out and found "A special place". As soon as I walked into the shop, I was warmly greeted. Even though I didn't have an appointment, they served me right away, even though there were several other women there. The shop is clean, well organized and inviting. Everyone was so friendly and kind. They have a great selection of quality wigs, hair pieces and accessories at affordable prices. They have nifty little stations, like a hair salon, with comfortable chairs, mirrors so you can see how your hair looks from all sides. They also have private nooks if you prefer to have some privacy. I have never bought a wig before and didn't really know what to look for or what to ask. The lady who served me ( Melissa) was wonderful! She asked me questions, inquired about my budget, measured my head and educated me on the differences between the types of synthetic hair, human hair, the types of caps and techniques that are used. They have a great selection of wigs to choose from, as well as catalogs, color hair samples you can touch and detailed information on care and styling depending on which material your wig is made from. These ladies Really know their stuff! Melissa was able to pull wigs for me that looked amazing. They know how to match cut and color based on your skin tone and facial shape. The wigs she picked for me looked better than the ones I had chosen. I can't say enough about this shop. They serve women who are dealing with chemotherapy, thinning hair and alopecia as well. Marilyn S. First experience searching for wig. I read a review and chose to come to " A Special Place". Found a wig I liked but did not have anywhere near the attention mentioned by the review I read. Left to my own devises I made my choice. Told them that I needed it by a certain date and was told, "no problem". Two days prior I called and was told it had not come in. On January 11, 2018 was told it was there so I went. When I got there I was told that the wig I ordered was no longer made and they sent one close to what I ordered. It was not close enough. I should have told them I didn't want that one and tried others. But it was somewhat close and decided to take it. Had to sign paper that it could not be returned. I kept trying to make it ok but it wasn't. Came back telling them I was unhappy. Was told they could fix it. It was cut to resemble the one I chose. It did not. I asked if I could please return and choose another. The law does not allow returns, which I understand but I didn't expect them t resell it. I paid a good bit for it and feel cheated. Again it was not the wig I chose and all the fixing won't make it that one. I will say that everyone was pleasant and smiling all the way. read more
