She promptly returned my call and we set up a day and time for her to come to the house. She said her cost was anything up to $300 to freshen it up. I stated it was freshened by Bob but now a chime had fallen. Not expecting $300. She came 8-31 and worked in the clock for a few hours and got it running again. She charged $300- which is more than we paid Bob to overhaul the clock after not running for 20 years. So this was surprising. As she left both her and my husband noted the pendulum was hitting the side but not with every swing. She said to call her back if it got worse. Yes- we had paid her $300 and it was not fixed. By the time I got home it was knocking both sides of the interior of the clock loudly with every swing. I stopped the clock and my husband called her back. She was out of town so we scheduled for today. We called last night to make sure we were all on the same page since she had not confirmed. She came today - this was a call back - and she spent 20 mins here and fixed the pendulum swing. On her way out - she said since it was a call back there was no charge. BUT THEN ASKED FOR GAS MONEY. Really? SHOCKED and just glad to have the clock working - my husband gave it to her. Expertise is costly and we are willing to pay but .......this was just rude and unprofessional. *** 9/14 update - Rachel did contact us after seeing this review and offer to refund our money. We appreciate the gesture but that does not change my review of the customer service. We did not accept her refund. We disagree with her business practices but in the end the clock is working.

Imagine our horror when, after a cross country move to an unfamiliar city, we pulled the clock out of its heavily padded box to find that this priceless reminder of many years of wedded bliss was broken. Attempts at a DIY repair went for naught as I lacked the expertise and tools needed to make the fix. So, I did what any good adulting millennial would do: I went to YELP! to find a clock repair shop. I discovered that Pyle's sits near a well reviewed pizza shop in Avondale. I figured taking a chance on an unknown clock shop might not result in a fixed clock, but it could bring delight to my tummy in the form of a detour to excellent pizza. I drove down to Avondale after work one day and eventually found myself at Pyle's. As I opened the door, I was greeted with floor to ceiling timepieces, each in a varied state of operation. The gentlemen who took care of my clock asked a few questions and immediately got to work on figuring out what was wrong with my gifted clock. Fast-forward 24 hours and less than $15 later and my clock was ready for pick-up fully functional and back to its former glory! While this shop might lack the glitz and glamour of a modern shopping center store front, this guy knows what he is doing. Go here for great service and fair pricing. Oh, and grab a slice of from Post Office Pies while in the area!

The signs on the store and multiple websites state that the store's hours are 9:30 to 5 Mon-Sat. I came by a few months ago around 4 store closed up lights off everyone gone home no sign on door indicating why they closed early. Today on my attempt to shop here I pulled up saw a closed sign and and 3 employees staring out the window at me like I was cuckoo for trying to shop at 4:00. Frustrated, I emailed to the address on their website indicated for feedback to see if they actually stayed open until 5. I received a quick but terse response from the general manager stating that they closed early for "inclement weather" for the safety of the employees and that it had never happened before today without advance notice. First, what they called "inclement weather" I call rain. Traffic was abundant and none of the surrounding businesses were closing early. Secondly, yes it has happened before and stating that it isn't so is an implication that I'm telling a lie. Not a very nice way to treat a potential customer who rarely gets to shop during the bankers hours that this business keeps. If I were a vendor I'd certainly be asking myself if this business is even keeping the paltry hours that they are supposedly open. Or do they just shut it down every time it rains, the wind blows or a bird poops on their windshield? If you're a vendor here and not selling much it may just be because we can't buy your goods through a locked door I do try to support small business but those that keep hours that are unfriendly to folks who work for a living and in essence call me a liar are doing their best to keep myself and other shoppers out. I'll take the hint. Will I try it again? Nope.
