Whatever. Bottom line, it got the job done by the deadline. City of Alexandria traffic court gave…read moreme a flyer with scant info, lacking details. 1) An online course is acceptable to the Court, provided it appears on the DMV's approved list, 2) you must submit the completion certificate to the Court, so complete the course at least one week before your deadline, to allow time for out-of-state mailing via FedEx 2-Day, and 3) because there are no proctoring centers in the City of Alexandria, you can take the EXAM online as well, and DMV's normal requirement is dropped, of showing up somewhere in person to take the exam. I wanted an ONLINE "Driver Improvement Course" (not a classroom.) The Yelp link leads to "Driver Improvement Program, Inc." registered at a house in Fairfax County, south of Alexandria. Apparently he does live classes. He is a real human, and he picks up the phone and answers questions. He appears on DMV's list. For the online course, he partners with an out-of-state provider, where I paid and actually completed the course, in about five hours. Twice, during business hours, I called the customer service number of his onilne partner, and after a minute or two on hold, Kellee answered and provided good service. The actual course proceeded smoothly. Unfortunately I procrastinated, and paid extra for FedEx (5pm), and I called and paid more over the phone for an upgrade to FedEx Priority (10:30am.) I suppose I expected sketchy and incompetent and delays, but it all went smoothly. I found this company listed locally, and the rate was only $20 different than the cheapest I had clicked on, so I didn't really shop around much.

I recommend this driving academy if you are concerned with reducing demerit points on your license…read more A few months ago, right before I moved, I received notice by the DMV in Virginia of too many demerit points due to some speeding tickets during 12 months timeframe. It was an option to take a driver improvement course and, upon passing, I would receive 5 points to cancel out demerit points. This driving academy has an online course, which I completed, which can be completed in one day (estimated at 8 hours for completion of the online course, although it took me less than 8 hours). The exam at the end must be completed in-person at the Tysons or Herdon location. I went for the exam in-person in the evening at the Tysons (Vienna) location and there was no one else scheduled so I was able to focus and complete the exam efficiently. The staff confirmed that points post within twentyfour hours and I received a printout of my of course passing score. The online course and final exam is $75 to complete and payable at the time of the in-person exam. For those interested, even without a DMV prompt, you can take a driver improvement course every few years and receive the positive points to your license (assuming you pass the exam).

Kashir was so patient with me and gave me great tips to improve my driving. He also went out of his way to accommodate me in his busy schedule and make sure I felt confident going into my test. Without Afshan and Kashir I would not have been able to obtain my license today. You guys are great, please keep doing what you do!

He had gloves on, and had just wiped the whole interior down with antibacterial cleanser. I felt completely comfortable in terms of covid. We met in Rock Creek Park. He was very friendly, calm, and thorough in his teaching techniques. His overall calmness kept me calm and gave me confidence, while learning such a new skill that ended with me on the road, in real traffic. I took the 4 hour full-course (best way to do it in my opinion). Tovo started with the basics, and didn't move on from one thing that I was learning until I was comfortable with it. We worked on starting out in first gear around the parking lot. Then we worked on second.... then a stop sign, and so on. After a couple of hours of learning, I was on the road, in real traffic. I thought I'd be panicky and scared, but Tovo kept his cool the whole time, which kept me calm and able to focus on what I was doing, and make logical decisions as we went. It was a great experience, and I am now completely able to drive on the road with a manual car. I highly recommend Stick Shift Driving Academy, and I highly recommend Tovo!
