This course takes considerably more than 4 hours. The text course takes almost the same time because of the pause before going forward. The co tent of the course is good it just takes a lot more time than it says. read more

So I'm embarrassed to publicly announce that I'm a horrible driver. I recently got a speeding ticket and I went into pull panic that my insurance was going to go up and that my points aren't looking too good with the dmv. So I decided to look up driving improvement classes. I came across this driving school and decided to go with them. I took a Sunday class for 8 hours and it was done and easy and it went through to the dmv. I highly recommend this driving school and I also highly recommend for anyone to take a driving improvement class every two years for points because you never know what will come up! read more

Even my son commented on her calm demeanor and her valuable information she provided him as he was getting ready to recieve her permanent Driver license. I was also impressed with how punctual Wafa was. She always communicated clearly about started the session on time. I don't usually leave a yelp review but I am writing to appreciate for the lessons that I got from 1 Safe Driving School and best instructor in town, Islam. I am originally from South Korea and exchanged my Korean driver's license to VA one. So I didn't have driving experience in the states at all and haven't driven for more than 5 years since I got my license in Korea. I wanted to start driving here but I was so nervous and scared. I finally decided to take some driving lessons and contacted almost every single driving schools in Alexandria where I live. None of them answered their phone and replied my email except this 1 Safe Driving School. I went with 10 hours behind wheels lessons and I met my Instructor 5 times on weekend for 2 hours each. They offer pick-up and drop-off service with their practice-car and you will drive that car. I practiced with him from driving around in neighborhood area to how to take a highway including parking lesson. After I finished all the lessons, now I feel more comfortable, confident, and safe while I am driving and I am not scared anymore. So these days, I can drive by my self and I earned a freedom to go wherever I want! Little bit about the instructor whom I practiced with, he was very nice and punctual with our schedule. As I remember, he has more than 8 years experience as a driving school instructor and he knows all most every single road in this area. He can control break while you are practicing even at the passenger sit. I still remember and recall all the advice and lesson he gave me and they are very helpful. (I am still mumbling "look around...look around" when I reverse my car in a parking lot lol) I would recommend this school to my close friends or family. My time and money were worth it. Much better than high chance of getting into an accident which would cost me a lot more. Thanks to Islam again and hope this review is helpful for those who are considering to take this class. Don't bother. They have a nice website a decent Yelp reviews. However, their phone tends to ring to a full inbox. They will call you back (based on seeing your number as a missed call) and Islam seems very nice/knowledgeable by phone. However, they fail to return calls to schedule classes once you register on their website. I left 3 messages and got no response. They did respond to an email that I eventually sent. They reported that an instructor would call to schedule- however, there was again no contact to schedule. So frustrating for my teenager who is ready to get started! I made one call to another company and they scheduled service immediately. We have delayed our Behind the Wheel scheduling and the schedule isn't ideal, but at least it is in process. Definitely call another driving school rather than wasting your time with this one. read more

I did my classes with the lady instructor as Islam had no openings. It was a mistake as there was language barrier. I felt I could not understand a lot of what was required for driving. After 8 hours, I still can't do turns efficiently. After 3 classes, I complained to Islam, I was told changing to another driver is not really allowed and reluctantly agreed to do 1 class. I feel I will need to redo the classes with another company. My advice: Stick to Islam only as most reviewers have good experience with him. Unless you understand and speak the language of the other instructors. Communication issues can make driving lessons very difficult, and unfortunately I realized this after my second class. read more

I have been really scared to drive for a while now..I'm 29, and finally plucked up the courage (and out of necessity) to get my license. I decided to go with 1 Safe Driving School due to the Yelp reviews. The first instructor they assigned me definitely gave me the confidence to drive, and I became comfortable in the car, braking, doing turns, and going up and down hills and with traffic lights. They have a brake on their side but she hardly used it. I requested another driving instructor because I wanted to get more explanation of the driving rules and because there was some miscommunication between the first instructor and me. They were super great about changing my instructor and handled it very professionally. I had 3 lessons with my second driving instructor Islam, who was absolutely AMAZING. Each lesson is two hours (which is fantastic because any shorter and its difficult to learn), and he talks non stop from the beginning to the end all about driving, telling you what to do in various situations. He is so incredibly informative, non controlling, and non panicky that it really helped me become super comfortable on the road. He makes you super comfortable on the road, turns the radio on the entire time and talks the entire time because he wants to get you comfortable with minor distractions which will inevitably happen. Islam is also extremely thorough, and I know I have learned a wealth of information. I asked him a ton of questions and he was able to answer all without brushing me off, looking things up or anything. He definitely knows his stuff which instills a lot of confidence in a student learning to drive. Both instructors were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. They take you on the loop to pass the driving test too. I have to say I was surprised that I could learn to drive so quickly, but after 10 hours of driving (with NO prior experience) I am completely comfortable driving on the road (i need a little more practice on highways) but all other roads I'm okay with. I just drove in rush hour traffic for an hour on the highway, and on super bendy and hilly roads and I feel completely okay. Islam's parking tips were SUPER too and have really helped me park and become more comfortable with reversing! I would definitely say that most of my fears about driving have disappeared and I feel almost completely comfortable on the road. I would STRONGLY recommend this driving school for anyone who really wants to learn how to drive (and not just pass the test), for anyone who has been scared of driving before, and for anyone who wants to get comfortable on the road.
